blondeozichick: I dont think anyone disagrees that aboriginals are the original australians but we who live here and grew up here and those that were born hear here are also australians .. being a certain colour does not determine if a person is an australian.. my youngest son was born here.. so he is an australian... my oldest son and I have been natralised so we are aussies too...in my opinion.. if you love this country and all its people and its culture then you are an aussie .. regardless of race or colour of your skin
blondeozichick: I know.. that is horrible.. but at the end of the day.. they have a choice.. like anyone else .. they can choose NOT to drink .. so people can blame white influence all they like... but the bottom line is.. they are not forced to drink .. they CHOOSE to
Yes there is. And a lot that are indigenous specific.

Oh and I wouldn't be entirely sure about other black races not being able to be bred out with inter-racial breeding. My unborn baby's father is half black and half white. His mother is half Aboriginal and half African American and his father white Australian. His mother does not really have African American features at all imo. He looks like a very light skinned Aboriginal man, and still no African American features except for his hair which is slightly like African American afro hair. Before me producing a child with him (my mother is also Aboriginal and have a white father), he has had two children with two different white women. His kids are fair skimmed but carry mostly Aboriginal features despite having some African American genes. So looks like African American genes are easily wiped out too, more so than Aboriginal. Will be interesting to see what our child together will look like. My other two children also have an Aboriginal father, both look more Aboriginal than white. So the Aboriginal part of them is not easily wiped out either. Despite my ex's and my father being white.

kizzy27: Being aboriginal is more than a skin colour , thats what alot of people dont understand, There are many differneces The reason that aborigional people are so prone to alocoholism is easily explained and directly coontributed to the european invasion.Europeans have had thousands of years of drinking experiance Our kidneys have evolved to accomadate our alcohol intake , The size of an aborigional adults Kidney is 1 third the size of a european,They simply are not genetically built to take it . Peoples aborigionality should be aplauded , as a race they are still overcoming persecution, finding a place in a world that has been civilized for thousands of years ahead of them.
Applaud you for being educated on this issue. Great to see!

yeah sorry.. mustn't have made myself clear.. by throwbacks with other black races I meant 3 or 4 generations later .. a fair skinned couple can have a dark skinned baby because of some black blood that was in the family say 3 or 4 generations ago.. so that what they mean by it never being totally bred out of the family line
I had lots of aboriginal friends growing up.. they all had different colour skin within their families because their parents were of mixed race .. my best friend when i was in primary school was pretty dark as was her mum.. her dad was more cafe latte kinda colour and each subsequent kid in the family after the oldest girl was lighter and lighter skinned.. the youngest one had blonde hair! no one believed they were related half the time

Yes everyone born here and even those who have made this their home are Australian and I've never said otherwise. I'm only disagreeing with the opinion that has been said in this thread that the 'original boat people' are the original Australians. They're not. I'm glad there are many different nationalities who now call Australia home. Especially the Koreans lol. I love Korean people and their food :p But I live in a very middle eastern area. And I love being in a city like Sydney where there are so many different people. They're still Australians to me.

I highly doubt that when my unborn child and his half brothers (who would be third generation?) have children that may be with someone other than an African American that there will be a throwback there somehow. In this case, the stronger genes have been both the white and Aboriginal. The African American genes were lost with his mother. They can try but they can't wipe us out. We're not going anywhere :)

kittykawaii: And this exactly is the reason i'm against the flag and the union jack. Because under that flag the Australian government tried to wipe an entire race of people out. We're still here because we're survivors. And i'm sorry Ron but I will have to disagree with you on the original Australian thing. 200 something years is barely a blip on the radar compared to the 60,000+ years Aboriginal people have been in Australia. We are the original Australians.
Aboriginal lived in this continent for way more than 200 years, but in no way were they one nation. They were groups classified by family and clan groups and very often only knew the people directly around them. I take nothing away from the story of aboriginal suffering etc, I merely point out that Australia, the nation, has only existed for 200 odd years. 400 years ago there was not one aboriginal living in this land who would have identified as Australian. In fact I would venture to suggest that there were probably some groups who never saw and were unaware of the existence of the oceans that girt (had to put that in) this land, and therefore could not claim ownership of a vast area of the land

Tonight, i was at the Port Adelaide and Enfield council Chambers, where an Australian Citizenship ceremony was taking place, a close friend of mine was receiving her citizenship papers along with 62 other people, and 20 different Nationalities were receiving there citizenship, and to hear them say the pledge, and to end the ceremony, to sing the Anthem was so emotional, and the smiling faces of these people so proud, they were given a small flag, a wonderful book with photos of our landmarks , animals ans fauna, with a badge of Australia, and a pen, it was something i will remember for a while i am proud of Australia and its people and culture, i don,t want to change anything ..

kizzy27: Advance Australias fair ,Love it or hate thats what we have ...currently Theres a poll on yahoo7 if you wanna add your opinion. If it was to be change what song do you suggest or do you think we should write a new one ? Personnally I like I am your are we are Australian.
I'm quite a fan of tradition and I quite like our national anthem. The 'we are Australian' song is really more an anthem for qantas, although I don't mind it. School kids seem to be made to sing it at every school concert ever held.
