The best snow in the country is not in CA...it is in Utah and Northern CO.
Shucks the slopes in CA have been so groomed they look like a raw recruit's bald head after he went the barber's shop in basic training. Now.....try Alta...or Steamboat....or Snowmass...you got snow up to your neck. And small snow covered fir trees passing between your legs.
Adding a certain amount thrill to the entire skiing day.....
