Have you noticed anyone missing from our EU Forum postings recently?

Rusty, our dear Rusty, has been told off, shut off from the forums and is currently sitting in the corner with a dunce cap on his head for misbehaving... He once again couldn't stop himself from speaking his mind (which most people round these parts do - that is after all what this place is for), but in this instance overstepped the boundary a bit.

We all know the CS rules, and are to abide by them of course. There are many shrewd, nasty comments and "name calling" that goes on here on the different forums, and not everything gets caught. In this instance one of our most admired and beloved posters made a mistake, and will be greatly missed. I would even go so far as to say that the loss of his postings from now on will have a more detramental effect on this community than the offence his mistake made (Although I do understand the sentiments of the person affected, and I fully understand that you need to keep a nice tone on these forums, but in this case it seems the punishment far outweighs the crime.)

What do you think?

well. name calling is not exactly what I call a nice attitude, it can be done jokingly in a way but when that is done, one has to know 89%for sure the other person is going to take it as a joke, or at least apologise in a private mail for the possible offence.

I apologied to Elley when I started a thread about his picture right after I started the thread because I realised then that I wasn't supposed to name people and that perhaps he wasn't going to welcome the attention, I didn't know him as well as I do now, and all things are relative anyway.

here, we only show what we feel like, depending, I suppose on how we feel that day, well, at least that's what I think.

Rusty has a great sense of humour, a bit weird at times, but there again, who isn't a bit strange at times?

I like weddy, I like many other people too, male and females who I have feelings for, not of love but of love of sorts, well, perhaps it's called a sense of friendship or camaraderie, or forums colleagues, I don't know.

I didn't like the comment on weddy, and I tried to difuse it somehow, Aha, the dragon again, helping people! blimey! I am a boat puller! what are those things called?

You're a tug boat?! rolling on the floor laughing

Well, that was very decent of you, to try and step in. wine And I agree, name-calling is not what we should be engaging here.
But usually I think we all manage to get our views across in a pretty harmless way, don't you think? conversing

Nina3: Hiya Breezee!

I have no idea how it works with the shutting-off of people...

And thanks for the frankness! See - it can be done in a "CS-acceptable way"!

I like Rusty, Nina!wave

......mostly because I remember him on the forums a little before he got so "weird".
I respect his intelligence, his humanity and his humour (when it is in good taste). And I believe you have to look at your experience of a person as a whole. This is not Hollywood, after all!! We are hopefully not judged totally by our regretable moments or our latest performance.......

Having said all that, however, I think it is probably best to avoid responding on a public forum to people you dislike or are experiencing tension with. There is such a thing as control and there are also social rules..... fact of life here...... you don't make an effort to obey them, you suffer consequences.

Sorry again. sad flower

I agree with Jacko, if you don't like what's being said, ignore it.

DF, I think the word could be blatant.

BTW although the joke was part of a conversation with the lovely Dragonfly it was in no way whatsoever a reflection of how I feel towards her. For what it,s worth I think she,s lovely. I agree, Breezee - you have to look at the whole, big picture. And restraint is of course very useful while socializing in this world. Although different folks and different cultures have different boundaries for this. Also, you need to factor in things such as people being in different moods, going through difficult times, etc, and sometimes give them a little leeway. Ultimately, we are of course adults, responsible for our actions.

cheers
