gardenhackle: I'd ask a question or two to see just how deep the insanity goes, but I wouldn't probe too much. It would just be a short date a permanent goodbye.

I don't talk politics or reglion because no one ever seems to be able to agree on the subjects.I am not sure that we get to choose who we fall in love with?We can choose who we date, but i think love has a mind of its own.
Can't beleive this is you spouting all this rubbish gardenhackle, I always thought you to be an open minded caring chap We would be a world of if we did not think differently its when we can not agree to differ when problems occur, or lack of respect for tree huggers

Not rubbish, Redex. I couldn't engage in a long-term relationship with an animal rights activist, an anarchist or amy other militant political fireball. Nor could I tolerate someone that takes every opportunity to denigrate my country. It just wouldn't work out. Tree huggers have a right to their opinion just like everyone else. I just don't want to live with someone that's over-the-top with that sort of rhetoric day in and day out.

Come on Demonfairy.....when ladies got the right to vote....they also got the right to argue politics.

I am bummed beyond belief. I can't even elaborate on it.

I would concur. That's why Emmiline (sp?) and I never hit it off )
gardenhackle: You meet someone realy nice, good looking and with adequate means but you find out very quickly that they're the polar opposite if you politically. Would that stop you from wanting a second date?
Depends on if they are fanatical about their political views. It would be interesting to be able to discuss differing views without resulting to smacking each other upside the head with frying pans; would be better than being with someone who had no views whatsoever and who never voted.
heavensmile: what is the connection between love and politic? are there politic in love?
Politics affects each and every one of us in our everyday life. if you're a logger and your potential love is a tree-hugger, you're going to have some serious crossed purposes.
When what one person needs to be happy is exactly what would keep someone else from being happy, you've got a fatal flaw in the relationship.

The way to resolve that is he cuts em' down and she plants new ones behind him.

I think both need to be on the same page, Spiritually, and politically, to a simular degree..If they want it to thrive

tomcatwarne: Why GB, at least you would have something constructive to argue about, and make up afterwards
That's one of the tickets!
To tell the truth, the gals I been out with have had different views on politics than I. Noe of them were ranting types but rather well founded beliefs which we discussed over time in various related and non related ways. it was hardly like a forum where you have one person who is convinced of one thing and another who is the opposite with none willing to compromise or listen so, in reality, politics in a relationship is nowhere near what it is on the street - or on a forum.
