You said this perfectly!! We do need someone to concentrate on our nation and to get the economy back to where it should be. I have not had a raise in over five years.
hotburninluv: Even Obama's supporters are frustrated. He hasn't closed Gitmo. He hasn't gotten us out of Iraq. Most IMPORTANTLY: They have not realized a boost in their own economic circumstances. Obama just says, "You know, I understand your frustration."
I would love for his family to live on what my family lives on for one month. I can almost bet that his car payment is more than my monthly paycheck. There are four in my house and we live sparingly.
jvaski: OK, but was he better or worse than BUSH ?
Good question. Well we've never had a misery index higher than when peanut man carter was president. miser index = inflation rate + unemployment rate. carter = 16.6 g w bush = 8.1 Woebama = 10.28 (presently)
Hi Galrads! I was just saying that any president who allows and says "take funds from education" did not have an education himself. If he had an education, and had to pay student loans, he would not be so quick to take away from those who are trying to make a decent living.
I have students who have made more in 3 months than I make all year and they went through the program that I teach. Does this sound like education is getting a fair shake?
Education is my life. I am currently enrolled in classes trying to make myself better. In the last five years there has not been a raise for teachers, the budgets have been cut and cut and cut. I am doing the job of three instructors but get paid the wages of a secretary.
Oops! Wait! Some of the secretaries where I work get paid more, and I have more education. When the president of the country cuts educational funds for the teachers, the colleges, the public school system, then complains that our children are not getting the education they deserve, needs to point the finger in his direction as that is where the directive came.

And he has another year in office. Unemployment rate in Georgia, and particularly where I live was in the 13% - 15% in the last quarter of last year. There are very few businesses left in this little town.

You should see cities like Zanesville, Ohio. It's like a ghost town there. Only things operating are two restaurants, public parking lots, the courthouse, jail, the sherrif and a couple of other government offices. Oh, not to forget, the local union chapter HQ still thrives there.
time4fun4u: I personally couldnt give a toss who you have as president. When all said and done, you havnt had that many good ones, have you. All i am saying is,i would suspect that majority of Americans are more concerned about the problems within, than whether Iran,Korea or Russia dont like you. A President who concentrates on thier nation, who ever they may be,surley is what is needed. Ps....World war 2 ended quite a while ago.its history.
Amen but u know these Repub, and how they like to intimidate...throw their weight around....Ironically, most that would rather fight, have never served in the Armed Forces...never sent a child out to fight...Freedom is worth fighting for, but what has bullying ever got anyone? I am sick to death of ANGRY PEEPS THINKING THE ANSWER TO EVERYTHING IS INTIMIDATION.

I have a lot of compassion for the "good" teachers. As far as their being able to do a good and better job, IMO, they are fighting an uphill battle... which starts with my belief that parents just aren't engaged like they have been and should be. Even if both parents work they should be able to prioritize things in their lives where they keep up with their children's educations and get involved.

Republicans don't intimidate but conquistadors certainly do. WOW You're asking someone in Spain about intimidation when their country's history is based on that and their conquests Oh, the poor Incas, Aztecs, Mayans lost cultures etc.

Uhhhhhhh.......let's not forget Palin's bulls-eye targets on her map .....
harris34: I WANT TO KNOW WHAT PEOPLE THINK ABOUT THESE TWO presidents
I think by far Obama has already accomplished more in his three-quarter period in office than Bush did in two terms. Iam a christian and understand perfectly the position of isreal in the christian faith.I also know that the bible says God bleses those who bless isreal and curses those who do otherwise. However, there can never be peace if ther are no hard nosed compromises. Thus i support the presidents peace plan. I think Isreal is only paranoid about being left defenceless because they are looking at the prevailing animosity towards them and not at the situation that would exist, were a peace deal to be reached. No peace deal can ever be reached as long as we have a president in the white house who wants to do business as usual..like predecessors. Obama is clearly trying to deviate from the same old story of appeasement, kid gloving and avoiding hard issues. For the first time, there is a light at the end of the tunnel for the Isreali's and palestinians, Bravo president

Wow! Sounds like my town. Blink your eyes twice and it is gone. It is five miles from one side of two to the other, and that is mostly housing complexes. We have Walmart and one other grocery store, banks like crazy (some say millionaires live here ), a new hospital, doctors springing up and around, CVS, Walgreens, and Kmart, plus the technical college.
We have the prerequisite courthouse and courts, lawyers (not too many he he), jail, sheriff and city police, and Rayonier. The only thing holding this town alive. If Rayonier closes, the town will fall.

I agree. But what happens when they become adults and have to really learn how to survive in the world. Most public school teachers take it one day at a time, take the kids out of the classes, put them in alternative school, etc. They don't care and these are people in GA that is getting $50K+ a year -- and they do what?
Where I work is totally different. Technical colleges are for the adults, or for those who really want to learn something. I have great students, but when there are no raises, and you are to bare bones, something has to give. I really love my job. I love to see those who want to excel in what they do. It makes me happy to see them doing so well and I know that I am doing my job. Most of my people are over the age of 25 who have found that live is not handed to you on a silver platter and they need to have the education to go with experience to be able to get a decent job.

I know my history, and that is just what it is...History, the past...It's a pity that U live in the past and can't make it here in the real world in real time, and don't use our history to avoid making the same mistakes repeatedly.

What has Spains ancient history got to do with me? Americans intimidated the native American, stole thier land, but that was many, many years ago,so what has that got to do with this thread?
Ccincy: Hi galrads,Yes I am.Anymore of this wet stuff and we'll need rowboats.
WE get all the run off of water whenever it rains cause our backyard butts up to a hillside.
We are never happy with the weather. Right now, over 1/2 of Georgia has burned in the last 3 months. The Okefenokee Swamp is so on fire (figure that one out -- it is a swamp ). There was over 70 fires at one time in the surrounding counties that burned over 5000 acres. So far the Okefenokee fire has burned almost 200,000 acres and has crossed into Florida.
Currently we are getting the pop up lightning storms because it has been at or around 100 degrees for the last week. Last night we had eraser size hail at my home. I don't want to rain like you have Ccincy, as the creek would be under my house and I have no where to go. But we would survive as we always do.

Hi GaCaryptic,The other night we ended up with 2 servere thunderstorms and and hail about nickel size. Then the next day after that it rained again. The backyard was all soggy and water puddles at the back of my b/f's mother's house.Hopefully we won't get anymore wet stuff until the ground dries out.
I was hanging clothes out on the line the other day and I could feel the yard was all mushy while walking on it.
harris34: I WANT TO KNOW WHAT PEOPLE THINK ABOUT THESE TWO presidents
doesnt matter what people think......people after a while get bored with their elected leaders and avoid admiting they voted for them..............it takes communities to run a country
harris34: I WANT TO KNOW WHAT PEOPLE THINK ABOUT THESE TWO presidents
It is too early to know that. The problem there each face were different. The only way to be able to get a answer on that is a at the end of there term. I think the question should be if you think he is doing a good job. It takes many years to get anything done within politics.
Ccincy: I was hanging clothes out on the line the other day and I could feel the yard was all mushy while walking on it.
Wow! You mean you still have a clothes line! I remember those and what fun they were to try to hang a quilt that was bigger than the line without touching the ground with it!
Mushy! Squishy! Soggy ground -- not a good way to walk. Unless of course, you have a boat, and can Row Your way around

I get very creative when the need arises.LOL
I ran two lines from the corner of our garage to the zezebo. When I hang big quilts/blankets up I hang one half them on one line and the other half on the 2nd line.
I love hanging clothes outside cause it saves on electricity.
