gsmonks: Do you think that on-line dating actually works, or that finding that significant other on-line is pretty much a waste of time?

I think it is really hard to find someone on a dating site... people seem to find it so easy to play with peoples emotions and tend to hide the truth.....

This isnt the first site that ive tried, but the most recent. I have met some really great guys, but they just didnt work out in the end. I kind of compare it to bar hopping. At least im not leaving with some strange dude that NO one knows about. I make sure someone knows where im going(public of course) and the contact info I had for them before I meet them. And of course.. less alcohol involved.. to begin with

The only way I've found to get to know how some people are is by as they call it socializing.
Besides I only come here when I'm bored.At times it's better then watching a soap opera.

Hell yeah... we're like a big family here, fight and kill each other at time , but in the end we get along just fine.... Many have found relationships and remain for the forums and the friends they've made over the years

I have had a few dates and they have all been really nice guys - just not met "The one" yet. I think if you can get to know them via mail, telephone, skype etc you begin to get a picture of the person. I always inform my best friend where I am going, I always go in my own car, meet in a public place. Oh and I also get the car registration of my date and give that to my friend as well as his mobile number.
It took me 18 months on line before I went on my irst date...yes it was a little daunting.....but if I dont go on dates, I won't know the real person....give it a try...just follow the rules....Stay Safe

Well, I can tell you.. I did just that.. I met people on here. got to them them thru socialising on the threads,

I'm already involved with someone whom I met on a non-dating site a few years ago I was referring to at the way things are today.

I have found that online dating sites are just like any where else for meeting people and deciding if you want to date...you have to weed out the ones you know you don't click with, right away and meet up with the ones you think you might click with...and sometimes even that doesn't work out...you just hang in there and keep trying,but extras caution is needed, no matter where you start you looking process...
As for me...I have met a few....One lasted a long time, but in the end it wasn't a lasting relationship....You either quit trying and live alone or you keep going....me, I keep going because I want to, not because I feel I have too.
