Stony, Yes the pilot did what he was taught to do in flight school . Depending on the airplane you have a certain amount of time to search for a landing spot in an emergency . The 170 series Cesnas as well as the other high wing personall craft have a high L/D ratio ( they glide well ). what this means is that you can remain airbore longer and search for a sutable place to land . Now as for the prop coming off ! I wonder if the maintainence person ever heard of safty wire ! If this was not the case and it was metal fatiuge , then the log book should have regestered the hours of operation and replacement should have been in order . Checking the torque on props is not part of the standard preflight ritual but a quick look for nicks or deep scratches is . It is also a good idea to grab it by your hand and turn it a little to check it's connection . All this is taught in flight school before you even get in the plane . Almost all incidents are a failure to heed the basic preflight . That is what they mean by " pilot error " .

Dear Yourtheone, I have seen this behaviour before . All of the furry creatures run for there burrows when this hapens . I've also noticed that with all the fetilizer and hot air flying everywhere the crops seem to multply more durring election years . I don't think it is a coincidence . .

Gosh Stony, What a lucky break for you ! I also gat a lucky letter from a woman who lost all her family in the wars there in Adrica . She can't get at her parents fortune becaus of political problems, but just as soon as I send her my savings account number she can transfer the money ! Oh boy ! I can hardly wait .
