How are you? How is your Dad? Hope things are going well with both of you.
I am glad to see you have a companion. From your photos, it looks like a wonderful little animal. He seems to adore you. The poor thing must have had a difficult time before you rescued him. You are a kind-hearted person.
Concerning the matter of Religion being a demon and its relationship to Science that you raised, I would prefer to discuss this with you in a CS email since it is not directly related to the topic of this blog, in keeping with Blog Rule 4.
Please send me an email outlining your views on the matter.
I agree that there is evidence to show that SOME MUSLIMS have engaged in “cutting off heads & blowing people up” as you have stated. However, they are a minority.
ALL MUSLIMS do not engage in or support such actions and it is very unfair to associate such actions with ALL muslims, and to stereotype them.
Perhaps religion may be a demon to you, but one cannot deny that it provides valuable “psychological security” that helps others to cope with their daily lives.
Thanks for your very open-minded and balanced comment, especially for your words of wisdom:
"As humans, no matter what your religion is, we all share this tiny planet and it is imperative we preserve humanity and the environment as a whole. If not, chaos will surely ensue."
I agree with your comment. Whereas women tend to discuss and share their problems with girlfriends, etc., as you have stated, men tend to keep things bottled up inside, and that may be detrimental to their health.
If I understand you correctly, in saying “till death do us part” during the wedding vows, women set a goal to delay the parting for quite a long time. Do men set similar goals?
Even though I quoted Descartes's famous statement:
"Cogito, Ergo Sum" "I think, therefore I am",
I personally do not agree with it 100%.
"Am" is the present tense of the verb "to be". Thus, the statement is a confirmation of his "being" based on his ability to think. However, what about animals? Do they think? Certainly, they "are", in the sense of confirmation of their being.
Or what about inanimate objects, like a stone? If you stub your toe on it, that would confirm its being. Yet, can a stone think?
This raises the larger question: Is thinking a requirement of being?
“dreams I reckon are a distortion all be it slight of thoughts. They could be thoughts when reading a book not necessary a real life happening. So sometimes dreamland can be more exciting than real life.”
I am not sure if dreams are a distortion of thoughts.
The content of dreams has always been fascinating to human beings, starting from our early ancestors. As Johnny mentioned, no doubt it is tied in with our personal life experiences. Some see it as messages from another dimension or world. The religious-minded view some dreams as messages from God.
“Consciousness is the awareness that you exist. Thought is the process with which you assimilate stimulation and everything around you.”
If I understand you correctly, thought is a process directed at everything around yourself whereas consciousness is directed towards yourself, more specifically, your existence.
If I do understand you correctly ,this raises the question: Can a person think of his/her existence? In other words, can one be aware of one's existence through thought?
Remember Descartes famous statement: “Cogito Ergo Sum” “I think therefore I am”
Dealing with the second one first, I think you will find the answer in a basic Chemistry course, which you have probably done.
The first one is much more complex. Different persons may have different views on the answer. Since our friend, Obstinance_Works, introduced the term into the discussion, I wish to invite him to give his answer.
“Thought is self-aware and conscious. Mind is instinctive and subconscious.”
Based on the distinction you have made above, how would you classify “dreaming activity”?
Does the answer lie in your second comment:
“Mind and thought inform one another using the methods of thought and mind. Meaning that you may or may not consciously realise when this happens.” ?
Your statement:
“Thought and mind, the conscious and the subconscious, are together dwarfed by the majesty of all creation. The things we know and the things we dream are less than what is.”
reminds me of a statement by Albert Einstein:
“To know that which is impenetrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty.”
“44, I disagree that it is the limitations of math.”
You disagree with my reference to the limitations of mathematics, yet in your previous comment you stated:
“Math makes reality not real.”
Isn't that a glaring contradiction? How can reality not be real?
You also stated:
“In my world the numbers don't lie. I trust the numbers over my senses”
Consider any two numbers, “a” and “b”. Say “a” = 8, and “b” = 4 Dividing “a” by “b”, we get 8/4 = 2 Cross multiplying, we get 4 x 2 = 8 which is correct
Now, let us divide two different numbers by the number “0”.
According to mathematics, dividing a number by 0 gives the answer “infinity” e.g, 3/0 = “infinity”(normally represented by the number 8 rotated through 90 degrees)
Choosing “1” and “2” as the two numbers, we get 1/0 = infinity, 2/0 = infinity
Thus, when we divide both numbers by the same number, that is, “0”, we obtain the same answer.
Does that mean that the two different numbers, “1” and “2” are equal? In other words, is “1” = “2”?
“Thought is something we do consciously when awake.”
I assume this may be termed “conscious thought”.
What about the activity of “dreaming”? Most people are able to recall, at least some of their dreams in their thoughts when they awake. Can dreaming be considered “unconscious thought” activity? What happens during “dreaming”?
“Consciousness is Awareness, also when we are awake but it is a state of mind.”
Isn't thinking activity or thought associated with a state of mind also?
“Meditation is deep deep awareness of shutting out everything until you are not aware of thought or consciousness, a blending I call it with the universe. very very hard to do but extreme peace will follow. Its healing without meds “
With regard to your statement:
“thought is what I do with information received when awake I think.”
Is thought an activity associated with the waking state only? What about when we are sleeping and dreaming? Can dreaming be considered a type of “thought activity also”?
You make some interesting observations about thought:
“Thought is happening all the time even when we are asleep.”
In your daily activity, you “try hold on to the frist thought that comes in my head at the start of the day and make it positive” but “In meditation I dont hold on to thoughts that flows in and out of consciousness then I am an observer og thoughts.”
I think you have made a useful distinction with regard to thought in your ordinary daily activities versus in meditation: In meditation, you do not try to control thought but allow it to flow freely.

However, I am certain that eventually there will be acceptance, and not dominance worldwide.
Only time will tell!
