Guardian Of The Environment

Hi Red

Hope you are keeping well and enjoying your home by the sea!
Thanks for your comment. I agree with you that the planet is kicking up fuss already.
I am glad to see that more people are becoming aware of the situation, as you said, and are taking action to deal with it.

Guardian Of The Environment

Hi bhadra

Welcome to my blog!
"who doesn't want to live such way. whether one knows or does not know, s/he always lives in harmony with nature."

What is your perception of living in harmony with nature especially with regard to human actions in relation to the environment?

Guardian Of The Environment

Hi Johnny

Thanks for your realistic assessment of the situation from a modern day perspective.
For the overall benefit of mankind, let us hope that more persons will become "guardians of the environment".
I think the Native Americans incorporated caring for the environment in their spirituality.

I am posting this to complement your blog "Back To The Indian". I wanted to post it as a comment on your blog. However, when I attempted to do so, I saw that you had closed of all comments so I am posting this separately as I think your blog has an important message.
I agree with your position re the 1st comment which I read. It is unfortunate.
(Please note that I am not trying to steal your thunder).
Please feel free to respond to any comments on the topic by others.

Dumb Blonde Stereotype

Correction in previous comment:

"Does this suggest that a person, with a natural non-blond hair colour, who may not be perceived as dumb initially, will be perceived as dumb after dying her hair?"
should be:

Does this suggest that a person, with a natural non-blond hair colour, who may not be perceived as dumb initially, will be perceived as dumb after dying her hair blond?

Dumb Blonde Stereotype

zman

With reference to your statement "the stereotype of blondes being dumb does not leave out those with dyed hair":
Does this suggest that a person, with a natural non-blond hair colour, who may not be perceived as dumb initially, will be perceived as dumb after dying her hair?
(Would you perceive such a person as being dumb?)
If this is true, it just shows how ridiculous the "dumb blonde stereotype" really is.

However, the focus of this article is on the perception of dumbness in relation to genetic blondes as expressed in the "dumb blonde stereotype". Its conclusion is based on biological evidence.

Your statement requires a separate research study, which by its nature, will be based on social research, examining people's perceptions. I think it would be interesting to include my question in such a study.

Of course, you are entitled to your own way of thinking.

Enjoy your natural hair colour.
I can understand that you had many boyfriends.
I am glad you found the blog enlightening.

Judging from your profile, I certainly do not think you are of low intelligence.
Enjoy your natural hair colour. It is what God gave you.

Dumb Blonde Stereotype

jac
With reference to the contents of the blog, what cause and correlation are you referring to?

Dumb Blonde Stereotype

zman
This blog deals with "genetic" blondes as defined in an earlier comment.
I think the research was on target in disproving the "dumb blonde stereotype".

Dumb Blonde Stereotype

The blondes to which this stereotype refers are "natural blondes", that is, those who are born with blond hair, which is inherited genetically.

The research found that a switch of a single letter of the genetic code is responsible for lighter hair: An A (adenine) is changed to a G (guanine) on a region of human chromosome 12. The team says that because this specific genetic change only affects the hair follicle, other cell types — especially, say, brain cells — are not affected. This means that blond hair really is “only skin deep.”

Those who have dyed their hair blond are not viewed as blond in this research, since they are not genetically blond as defined in the previous paragraph.

I was very moved by the two cases of your interaction with autistic children that you described, and how heart wrenching the first experience must have been for you. I think that because of their "odd" behaviour and mannerisms, some persons may be inclined to think that such autistic children not be very sensitive when it comes to experiencing human emotions but perhaps they can feel things more deeply than most of us.

I am also amazed at how a young ten year old boy could capture the details of your face simply by feeling it with his hands and then reproducing those details in his drawing sketch.

You must have some special quality to evoke such responses in those children and I commend you for that.

As you said, the guy you mentioned possesses exceptional skill in fixing technological items such as computers, cars, etc. but seems to have trouble in making decisions with aesthetic matters such as interior decoration of his own house. I suppose he has no traits of autistic behaviour otherwise.
Perhaps there are several "normal" persons like that who perform exceptionally well in some areas and poorly in others.

LOVE

Your comment had me puzzled. I had to investigate it. Here is what I found:

"Love is like a Ice Cube,
the Harder you Hold on to it, D faster It’ll disappear.
All u’ll have in your hand will Be Tears of Crushed Love…"

If that is what your comment refers to, I think it is in full agreement with Kahlil Gibran's writing, especially when he says:

Love one another
but make not a bond of love

Very Interesting Topic!

2 Corinthians 6:14 (NKJV)
Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

During my teenage years, in the 1960s, I was a member of a Christian Full Gospel Church. The minister was a White Canadian. One Sunday night, he preached a sermon that virtually advised that persons should marry within their own race. I was curious if he would support this position biblically.

He quoted the above-stated verse in delivering his sermon.
I should mention that he had two teenage daughters. One of them was often seen in the company of a young Christian black man who was a member of the same church.

Anyway, based upon the quoted verse, it seems that the Christian Bible discourages marriage between Christians and Non-Christians.

Be Your Own Guru

Hi Bspoken4

Thanks for your comment.

Be Your Own Guru

Hi Redex

Thanks for your comment.

I get you 100% re your statement:
"walking in Nature alone with her gives me all the guru I need "
for that has been my spiritual path also as expressed in several of my poems on Poetry Corner.

Be Your Own Guru

Identifying False Gurus and Spiritual Teachers

1. Charging Large Amounts of Money

2. Giving Themselves Fancy Titles

3. Inability to Take Criticism

4. Overly Focused on the End Goal

5. Behaving Hypocritically

6. Focusing on Fulfilling Egocentric Desires

7. Displaying Spiritual Materialism

8. Behaving Selfishly

9. Promising a Fast Path to Self-Realization

In closing…

These are several ways in which you can spot a false guru, spiritual teacher, or other peddler of faux spirituality. In this day and age where there are thousands of so-called gurus, we have to be careful who we choose to listen, to because if we make the mistake of following someone who is ego-centered in their true intentions, then we will lose time, money, and opportunity costs (among other things).

I invite others to do a google search on:
"fraudulent gurus"
to learn more on the subject.

Be Your Own Guru

Hi Minerva

Thank you for your comment and for sharing with us.

My experience has also been similar in my search where initially I sought spiritual guidance from others, mainly through reading, but have come to rely more on my own insight into so-called "spiritual matters".

Thank you also for your lovely comment regarding myself.
I can only state what I believe and feel. I make no claim to it being "the truth".

Be Your Own Guru

Hi usha

Thanks for your comment.
I am happy that the blog has given you food for thought.

Be Your Own Guru

Hi Johnny

Thanks for your comment.
The term "guru" normally refers to a spiritual teacher, especially in the Hindu tradition. In this article, I think it applies to someone who may help you in your spiritual development. Traditionally , the term "spiritual" has been linked with religion, but many persons view them as being different, even right here at CS where several persons are listed as being spiritual but not religious.

The more we explore the spiritual path, the more we discover the core truth that the highest answers needed for our lives are within us right now.
There is so much wisdom with-in you. Can you imagine turning to this wisdom within and thinking of yourself as your own guru?

This wisdom is innate, and it may be viewed as our own individual inner guru, and we can discover and realize it through our own intuition and insight.

No one knows your life, motives, and longings better than you. No one can surpass your own inner voice as the highest resource you have. You already have within you the solution and divine guidance you will need for the rest of your life. You have great ability to manifest as a resource to yourself.

Being your own guru means releasing personal attachments to someone else telling you what to do or how to proceed. What a wonderful path to discover these very answers lie within us!
The last statement quoted from the article is in full agreement with your statement that "we need to break free from the perceptions that people who know us...have of us".

8 False Animal Facts Most People Think Are True

Hi Minerva
Thanks for your correction.
Actually, the article I quoted, and for which I have attached the link, showed a picture of the bullfighter of the last bullfight in Catalonia saying it was before the government prohibition of bullfighting took place in 2011. I did not realize it was still taking place in parts of Spain at present.

I did a google search on:
"bullfighting ban in spain eu membership".
It shows that the matter is still very controversial.
Perhaps, you can do a blog on it for us.

Very simple and very profound message!
However, the main problem is doing so, as ekself explained, in today's world.
