As dbert said, there was a time when people had little opportunity to be lonely.

They were living in extended families and working hard for food and shelter.

Now, with travel, the industrial revolution and the quest for filling our pockets with more than the basics, we seem to have less intimacy available.

So we feel alone and have an empty place within ourselves which we try to fill as quickly as we can.

I don't think love and the elusive "soulmate" is the answer for filling the void.

I think the answer is being happy in our own lives and sharing our lives and love with others as best as we can.

We've had three inches of rain fall here in the last 24 hrs.

Getting tired of rain, but at least we are not being flooded out.
