RE: Latest news in Iran

Mousavi said yesterday he was going to fight on. But cards seem to be all held by Pres. A. though a former Iranian President said the election was bad.

Pres. Obama seemed to walk the fence line on it. Not supporting
Pres. A or supporting Mousavi. But like all fences, they come to an end.....then when you jump off there is some time a big mud puddle waiting for you.

With the Guardian Council recount supporting Pres. A and the Iranian
being silenced, cleric threats of death on arrested protesters, and the Basij Militia in control of the Tehran streets. Not much room for Mousavi to operate.

Some are calling for Mousavi arrest to his inciting the protesters.

One thing is for sure....when the Supreme Leaders says...."Iranians are of one fabric" it is either fabric that is unraveling or tearing at the seams.

RE: Obama Rocks ! Today ! The most serious attempt against more Wars !

Talking Health Care here....

According TO Newt Grinrich, President Obama made the following comment

To save on health care cost on surgical procedures for the dieing and terminally ill "evidence shows that they not necessarily will
going to improve the care for sick and dieing. Maybe you are better
off not having the surgery, but taking the painkiller."

In other words.....just let the elderly and terminally ill die with medication. Skip the surgeries and the other expensive medical treatments to sustain life.

Anyone want to President Obama bed side and making a life or death decision to their elderly grandparent or parent? With national health program, he will be. Not him personally, but those Washington DC beuacratic that will be trying to interpret the massive legislation to see if they qualify for a surgery or medical treatment.

They will be taking a tone in making these decisions from the Chief Administrator.....that would be the President.

Pretty easy to sooth ones conscience on denying a claim for terminally ill elderly patients heart transplant.... when it
not going to improve live". Pretty easy to say no to a elderly person costly medical treatment plan, when they can be placed on some meds and given that long silent slumber without much pain.

My Dad is 84. At 78 he had a heart attack. I agree his last 6 year have not been quality years. But who is any one to take those away? He has kept old friendship alive, made a pest of himself around the house, saw his three grand children graduate from High School and Colleges.

At 78 with this heart condition, under the Obama plan...maybe all that would have been done....is some pain killing med....not the triple by pass that saved his life.

Everyone gets old.....if this administration begins to halt life saving medical services at 75.....then who to say the next administration (to save a little more money) will not make it 70....then 65.....then 60.

Grinirch even said that it will not be administratered "fairly"...meaning some 75 will get the medical procedures and others will not. That is not fair, that is being exclusive to a group or a segment of society.

RE: States Tax us to Death !

State of CA Senate just shut down for the day. It could not come with a solution to the IUO program to help cover the state's $24.5b
debt. So decided to call it day.

Actually it not a bad idea to getting gov't spending slowed down some. Just shut the Senate and REP bodies down for a time. Let the
Governor take a out of country vacation....Argentina any one???

When they come back....have the doors of their office lock with new locks and chains around the gates of the Governor's House.:-)

RE: Latest news in Iran

The Guardian Councial ( a group of 12 clerics) in Iran, approve the
Pres. A election win. They selected randomly 4m votes and did a
recount. It showed some 'irregularities' but not enough to change
the results.

I wonder if they have a paper trail?

I bet not.

I also wonder how the votes were stored and secured since the election.

When asked if the US would know accept the result, Hilliary Clinton
said..."we are taking this one day at a time." Meaning?

I was shot at in Bosnia and near became was the DEM canidate for President in 2008. Such a diplomatic doulbe talk reply basically says nothing.

Russia and China have both accepted the results. So pressure on the US and west will mount to accept them as well.

The way I see this.

Heck we (the US) have not accepted or recognized the Iranian regime since the embassy take over in the late 70s. Why change now? Just because they ran an election.

So let them sit on it.

A little more. 5 of the 8 UK Embassy employees were released.

The US Force in Iraq left the cities to return to bases in rural areas. Many Iraqi cities had fireworks displays. Iraqi cities security is now the Iraqi gov't and its security forces.
Glad the Iraqi decided to have fireworks displays. When they do traditional gunfire celebrations in the past.... accidental shooting have occurred.

And the Mynmar gov't has said that they will search the NKorean ship if stops there. A pretty common thing done when a ships stops
in port to off load. In Japan two Japanese and two Mynmar were arrested for trying to smuggle a magnetic measuring device out of Japan to Mymnar. Such devices are used to make rockets.:-)

You got to love em....just like the Jones that have the newest and biggest car on the block.....the Smiths need one that bigger and better.

RE: Sarkozy bans burqa wearing.

This is for everyone that thinks face covering and hiding of identities don't matter.

Remember the name Lynndie England?

Lynndie Egland was the Army Reservist that was photo in the Abu Grial prison scandles. According to her....only a 'moment in time'...and she was acting for her 'boyfriend and father of her child'. He also a member of the unit.

But her face in those pics did make a big impact around the world.

She was released from jail two years ago.

Since then she has not been able to get work. Has had vile letters sent to her family and mother. One restraunt she applied at, when the other employees learned that she had applied....all threatened to quit....if hired. She lives as a recluse and is ostracised from American society.

So let us compare how England has been treated to how 'masked AlQeada terrorist have been treated once released in Suadi from GITMO?

They get a house, a car, a wife(s), employment, psychological treatment for their various anti west. They photos of them coming from a Suadi gov't 747 in al-Jazzerra. They treated as royalty all for wearing a mask and hating the west for a few years. For doing the bidding of bin Laden for a few years....gives them a life long income and security in Saudi.

Lynnedie England....for raising her hand, taking an oath to defend the country of the United States...did some very dishonorable things in that occupation. Her punishment will be life long treatment of American turning their back to her. But she did not do it wish a mask on to hide her identity.

Masked AlQeada terrorist....can hide behind a mask....kill captured Americans that are both civilian and military.....and get warm and friendly receptions in thier home countries. And 10% of them will return to the fight.

RE: Sarkozy bans burqa wearing.

Voyager,

You mean the way the 18 9/11 attackers were 'just and honest' in their attack?...By using fake passports, by pretending to
being students in college, by smuggling weapons onto the planes?

As long Islam can make such men.....because surely it did....as
all were Muslim in faith.....and they used lies and deception to kill 1000s.

Then western countries are going to use security system, methods
and other means to protect their 'unjust and untruethful' people that happen to be the targets of such 'just' attacks (in Islamic views).

RE: Well done USA

There is growing movement in the youth soccer today in the US.....for 'non competitive' soccer.

Basically the kids play.....but no score is kept...e.g. no winner or loser. Now we are not talking really young kids...like U-6 , U-7 and U-8....but U-12, U-14, U-16, and U-18s.

I have been sitting here thinking to myself...after hearing one of their commercials for non competitive sports earlier today....."Dang, guess they never saw a U-16 in Europe being signed to a professional contract. Bet that pro team wants a player with fire in his heart to win to pay that signing bonus."

Or now that for majority of players by the time they are 22 in age....they have either made it or have not. To make it you need to have some real game experience of both sides donw by a goal and up by a goal....like the American gained today....in the 3-2 lose.

They will remember now how to win from a lead. To slow the play and control the time better. To eek out a second half win against a good side. But without the score in the match....how can that be done?

Why would a American college coach.....take a player that is coming from a non competitive league on his team?? His job depends each year to the number of games he wins by that scores his team posts. When I select players for a team, I want players that know how to win. You don't get that in non competitive play.

Can you imagine telling the English youth leagues officials.....we will bring US non competitive team over....and just play for fun? They will look at you and think "blimey that is daft".

This non competitive thing has been around in the states since 1989. I don't mind it for young players, no big deal. But a player over 10....hey play to win.

What they said in the commercial was competitive sports are unrealistic to the civil values of society. That they teach aggressive behaviors. So take the winning and losing from it.

I am thinking.....hey winning and losing occurs in society. So think that non competitive sports...is just teaching participation sports..but not sports excellence.

RE: Well done USA

Pele is a class act. No doubt that. Saw him play a few times here in the US. Even with old legs, he was a player.

One of our coaches in the US...compared the practice time of Brazilian playing sand soccer on the beaches of Rio to the practice time of Americans in organized soccer.

Our kids get 2-4 hours a week practice time and a couple of matches. Brazilian youth spend 8-10 hours a day on the beach playing. The ratio is 1 hour (US) to 10 hours (BR).

I was invited to attend the Brazilian Soccer Academy one time. And to bring a select U-19 team down for a serise of games. I remember the practice ratio.....all I could think of double digit to nil waxing........LOL.....not conductive the positive self image of a coach.

RE: Well done USA

Bummer.....2 nil at half. And we give up three in the second. Including a disputed goal.

But this side is shaping up nicely for the World Cup. It take a solid team to stay on the field with Brazil's best.....

It would have been something to hold that 2-0 half time lead.

And with that little bit of experience can go a long way in the
world cup. Holding the lead is part of the game, we American seldom get a chance to practice at.....LOL......make that almost never get
a chance to practice at.:-)

RE: Obama Rocks ! Today ! The most serious attempt against more Wars !

Iran has detained (arrested) 8 of the civilian embassy workers of the UK Tehran Embassy. They are charged with being liaison for
the British to the protesters of the election. That they acted as
the British agents...to promote the post election violence.

The British deny the charges. Did not say how many of its 70 civilian employees were detained.

The Brits employ 70 Iranians at the embassy. So the Iranian did not
arrest them all. But certainly have pressured a way to keep them for acting to support the protest.

So?

Did not these 8 have the right to talk or meet protesters, or to even protest the election themselves under Pres.A's Iran? All this could be pretty innocent stuff. One of the first civil liberties to go in a crack down is the right to assemble.

There was a horrible time in American modern history during the McCarthy period. When mere association to any communist or communist organization could land you in jail, in a Senate Investigation Hearing, black balled from work, and made in the country to seem unpatriotic and traitorous.

That was in the early 1950s. Today's Iran, is doing the same. Arresting people for political associations. Making them appear traitorous and unIranian. Investigating them because of their work associates.

Those arrested in this supression of the protesters and now
thier associates. Will be given a cleric show trial of a few hours....and then...if the clerics is a hard line radical....the death sentence. Pres. A wants the world to respect him and Iran. The world should do just the opposite. Turn its back on this kind of Iranian justice and political repression.

Iran, that country that wants to have a right of nuclear material processing and their use for peaceful purposes, cannot even get the right of assembly and free speech right. If a country cannot show me that it cannot honor one of the most basic human rights, why in the world would I want it to have nuclear material rights????

RE: Michael Jackson died.

9 words, Indy. You are getting long winded.....:-)

RE: Sarkozy bans burqa wearing.

I have to admit you got me there. But how about this....a weapon is smuggled onboard via the Bhurka wearing woman....and she hands it off to a man blended into the society he is intents to destory

Several of the 1970s-80s aircraft hi jackings occurred when women accomplist would smuggle the weapons onboard in bags, clothings, etc.

We can debate this for more pixtels than CS has. But a woman wearing a Bhurka.....how harmed can she be when asked to wear western clothing in France or some other western society? Million's of other women do it with out any great ill effect.

But it seems to me....one of society security or the choice of dress of a individual.Individual benefit or society's safety? Society wins.

Anyways....nite all.

RE: Sarkozy bans burqa wearing.

So a anti bhruka position is a dislike of Islam? And a that caused by a fear behavior of west because it like to have security at airport and in society?

Sojourner, each country has the right to issue its own passport, visa, and entry requirements, yes? So if one choose to ban the burka, it is still that countries right to as a entry requirement.

Gee maybe it because we don't like having airplanes fly into building. Which yes is very fear causing.

RE: Sarkozy bans burqa wearing.

They don't have advanced x-ray at all small airport, Magenta.

The terms Sarkozy used were to be more politically correct.
Since only a few week earlier, it was made a no no to use the
word 'terrorism' here in the US. Had he menioned the secureity threat as a reason.....President Obama would not have liked it.

Also he wanted to cause several nights of blogging here at CS on the subject....:-)
