That must have been frightening at the time, but I am glad you are ok. The shopkeeper is what most of the world is like. We just don't hear about it often enough.
Very hard question to answer...but a great question.
It depends on the person...some people do not want to share their past with you. Reasons? It could be numerous.
It also depends about subject matter. Some people may be embarassed about past relationships. I try to focus on the person today and who they have become. But some problems from the past could affect your relationship, thus the dilemna....
