doesn't matter if people were 'duped' into a cause or a war, it's the fact that religion can be used to 'dupe' people in, shows the real nature of things...
but sure pointless debating with ya really.. you know the answers anyway...
6 million jews would beg to differ on your opinion.... so would the hundreds of thousands of catholics and protestants killed in numerous wars throughut europe over the past 800 years. Isreal and Hezbolah! Hutu's and Tutsi's the Shia and the Kurds The indegenious peoples of South America by the religious spanish and porteguese.
I could go on!!! I never claimed every war was religiously motivated. And even if people were 'duped' into believing they were doing it for a religious cause it doesn't make it any less valid that religion can and has been used to murder people. Suicide bombers and their Jihad are a perfect example in todays climate. Religiously motivated murder.
never said wars weren't fought over other things!! but you're wrong to say it's a myth that religion wasn't the cause of death and destruction... the crusades being one example, but hey.. doesn't matter.. you seem to know it all already!
here you go... it hasn't be offically 'discovered' just yet, they have seen proof of it's existence and upon running more tests, the will have 'standard scientific evidence' for its existence.
well if you understood the scientific process then you would know not to discount something, or call it irrational, until there is evidence to suggest otherwise.. all science begins as a theory... look at the higgs particle.. completely theory for the las 50 yrs, but they reckon they have viewed now at CERN.... many scientists have called that theory 'irrational' over the last 50 yrs because it tied things together too nicely... yet now, it seems, it has been viewed at CERN!!!!
science is and always will be 'irrational'.... if we don't seek out answers or throw theories away because they seem too far fetched, we'd still be in the stone age
and 'irrational belief'.... we are but a drop inside a drop of water in the ocean that is the universe... it is completley rational that in a universe so large, that if evolution can produce us over a couple of billion years, then it's equally possible to happen elsewhere
a new teacher starts school. she goes around the class asking the little boys and girls their names. first she asks a cute little blonde girl with her hair tied up with yellow ribbons.
'what's your name sweetheart?' 'My name is apple blossom' 'oh that's a lovely name' says the teacher. 'how did you get that name?' 'well, when i was in my mammys tummy she was sitting under an apple tree when an apple blossom fell on her tummy.' 'oh, how lovely,' says teacher
she asks a second girl with her hair tied up in pink ribbons 'what's your name?' 'my name is rose blossom.' 'oh that's lovely how did you get that name?' 'well when i was in my mammys tummy she was sitting near a rose bush when a rose blossom fell on her tummy.'
next she comes to a funny looking boy down the back of the class who is picking his nose and looking out the window, seemingly laughing at nothing. 'excuse me,' says the teacher, 'what's your name?' the young boy turns around and says.....
ok, so you're on another dating site... someone mails you (on the other dating site) tellin you they recgonise you from CS... then, naturally, you ask who they are on CS and they won't tell ya..
I firmly believe in a 'life' after death. I'm not religious in any way, shape or form, but I do believe in a 'God'.
It doesn't matter what I perceive this afterlife to be, because it's my own personal belief and it only matters to me. Whether or not there is an afterlife or not doesn't matter but the conviction with which you perceive it to be or not be (if it's important enough to the individual) is all that really matters.
it was never going to be a popular budget but the fact that social welfare payments did not decrease and income tax did not rise, plus the USC has been removed from those part time and seasonal workers who earn only 10k a year, some credit has to be given for cutting the few billion from the govt expenditure without touching any of those thing.
