Hire someone to finish the construction project I'm on right now and give them direction via sattelite phone from some secluded beach on an undisclosed island. Then think about what I'm going to do with the rest of my life. I've started from zero a couple of times, so a million should enough for me to retire on somehow.
That's what my brother and his wife said when they lived in Cali and Hawaii. I still think they're nuts. She also missed skiing and the change of seasons. I'll take warm and sunny 365 days a year!
Vancouver never gets cold. It starts getting miserable from the rockies all the way to the middle of Ontario. Most of BC is fairly mild until you go north. Southern Ontario is nice too. I don't know about the maratimes other than they do get a lot of snow. Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are about the worst other than the territories. Extremes from +45c to -45c.
I know the feeling Don. I haven't had much time off this summer and now it's almost over. Construction!!! Getting ready for winter. It's only a few days away now. I can't believe the leaves are already changing colour and almost all the apples have fallen off my tree in the back yard. The wasps have been aggressive for weeks already. Sure signs of snow. It started in late September last year and didn't let up until May this year. That's just toooooo much for me to take anymore. I gotta get outta here for a while this year.
My aunt and uncle used to go there every year for part of the winter. They loved it. The closest I've ever been so far is Missisippi. Even that was nice during the winter comparitivly.
If it were like that only for a couple of months I likely wouldn't mind. Last winter was almost 8 months of frozen hell though. Weeks and months of -30c and colder. Tons of snow. I've lived here my whole life in Canada and I need a break from it. See what winter is like elsewhere. Maybe a Carribean christmas!
You could always chain him up in the cellar and wait to see if someone comes looking for him. Mind you, if he's not married and he doesn't like that sort of thing it might end the relationship.
