Why olive oil is bad for your stir-fry?

Why olive oil is bad for your stir-fry?
We all know that certain oils are healthier than others, but your oil health goes beyond just the type. The health of your oil can be related to how you use it too.
Each type of oil has what is called a “smoke point.” The smoke point is the specific temperature at which the oil starts to break down…or in more technical terms, its molecular structure begins to change. These molecular changes result in changes in flavor, as well as changes in nutritional value…specifically, the nutritional value of the oil starts to degrade; changing what once may have been considered an especially healthy oil (such as Olive or Flaxseed which is rich in Omega-3s), into one that is unhealthy.

The higher an oil’s smoke point, the higher the temperature the oil can withstand. As a result, each type of oil should be used for the cooking method that is most appropriate to its individual smoke point and heat tolerance. Here is a quick guide for the next time you reach for your favorite oil.

No-Heat: Flaxseed
Low to Moderate: Coconut, Corn, Olive, Sesame, Walnut
Medium Heat: Macadamia Nut,Peanut, Safflower, Canola
High Heat: Avocado,Grapeseed, Sunflower, Soybean

Most oils we buy are refined. Refined oils tend to have much higher smoke points than their unrefined counterparts. They also differ in nutrition and flavor. Unrefined oils are more nutritious (some of oils’ nutrients are removed during the refining process) and they tend to be much richer in flavor. For instance, unrefined peanut oil will smell and taste just like peanuts, while refined peanut oil will have a lighter smell and taste.

When it comes to extremely high heat cooking, always choose oils which are refined. If, however, you are anxious to have a salad with a rich taste, splurge on the unrefined variety if your palate so desires!

RE: Cultural Relations

Thank you Conrad I will prepare the sprouted lentils and I might as well try some other seeds and it is great that they have all essencial aminoacids, wise mother nature!

RE: Cultural Relations

Hello Conradwave
I had to google the pigeonpea and they are very much the same than lentils without considering their botanical species anyway they are tasty, good food around 26 % protein and rather inexpensive here 1 kilo is about 1.3 USD.

"Lentils contain high levels of proteins, including the essential amino acids isoleucine and lysine, and are an essential source of inexpensive protein in many parts of the world for those who adhere to a vegetarian diet. Lentils are deficient in two essential amino acids, methionine and cystine. However, sprouted lentils contain sufficient levels of all essential amino acids, including methionine and cystine.
.....
Health magazine has selected lentils as one of the five healthiest foods. Lentils are often mixed with grains, such as rice, which results in a complete protein dish."

I had not idea about the nutritious value of the sprouted lentils and I have never had them that way.

RE: How do YOU spot a liar?

How to spot a lier? in realf life it is asier that on line but both circumstances can be done and not only for partners but for everyday's people.

In real life:
Intuition
body language (eye movement, hands, etc.)
Unnecesary explanations (said it twice migh be a lie)
mixed up info

On line:
His profile does not match with the way s/he expresses.
Her/his post give a lot of info but I would have some reserves for that.

What i would do if I am interested on someone here I would check his postings and his comments and follow his comments and if i think every thing migh be all right we might start chatting and then it will be easy to make unexpected questions and see his answers, both ways.

RE: Cultural Relations

Lunch

"Enchiladas" (soft taco) with green or red sauce with egg whites.
Refried beans (with little avocado oil)
Fresh Avocado

Dinner
- Chiles rellenos.
(a type of gren peper toasted, skin and seeds out and filled with cheese OR refried beans OR some spicy ground meat. Cooked in a tomato sauce with fresh herbs. I do the light type, in the traditional the filled peppers are covered with beaten eggs and they are deep fried).
- Rice with vegetables
- Tortillas
- Natural fruit drink
(water plus juice and pulp from: orange or lime or pineapple, etc....
with a bit of honey)

why?
Because they are tasty!
Althoug the "chilles rellenos" preparation takes some time but it is worth it.

Buen provecho

RE: THE MOST ROMANTIC FIRST LINE

My darling, my lover, my beautiful one
I see your face when I am dreaming.
Kind, intelligent, loving and hot;is you
Love may be beautiful, love may be bliss,
I thought that I could love no other
Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you.
I want to feel your sweet embrace;
I love your smile, your face, and your eyes
My love, you take my breath away.
My feelings for you no words can tell,
What inspired this amorous rhyme?
Not vodka nor lime.

RE: Women's Liberation....Was it worth the trouble? For the Ladies

My children always had good care and love and I have always worked full time I even manage to take their own food to their schools because of health reasons. Now they are healthy, good persons and happy and both have finished school, my son is working and my daughter getting another degree but I mus tell you that it was not an easy task and I always did the cooking so I had to be up at the leatest at 5 am every day from monday to saturday.
I dare to say I am a succesful career woman but above all I am succesful mother.

And do not forget that many women are taking care of their children by themselves, so working is not an option it is an obligation for them.

RE: Homeless!

In that situation children should care for their parents because of
gratitute, respect and love.
Here it looks more the other way around with children not being able to find jobs and they are living with their parents.
Anyway I live in a extended family culture and it is quite normal that parents take care of children and the other way around which I am gratful to it.
