RE: The Nakba

The link claims the British were supporting the Arabs against the Jews. Interesting...

This was on 28 April 1948, just before the invasion by Arab armies. During the six months prior to the outright invasion, fascist Arab forces, secretly backed by Britain,

a) infiltrated Arab troops into the future Israel to terrorize Jews and friendship-minded Arabs and

b) tried to persuade/intimidate Arabs into evacuating the area, thus limiting possible Arab-Jewish unity opposed to the invaders, avoiding the politically harmful spectacle of Arab armies unwittingly slaughtering Arabs, and facilitating the slaughter of the Jews.

RE: BREAKING NEWS: Israel's Attack on Humanitarian Ship to Gaza.

I don't know pat, do you think the ships actually entered Gaza port or were they forced to enter an Israeli port for "inspection" and truck their freight through the overland crossing?

RE: BREAKING NEWS: Israel's Attack on Humanitarian Ship to Gaza.

Israel forces fire Malaysia Gaza aid ship

Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman condemned Israel for preventing the ship from reaching Gaza.

Israeli naval forces fired "warning" shots at a Malaysian aid ship as it approached the Gaza Strip on Monday, forcing the vessel to retreat to Egypt, organisers and the Israeli military said.

An aid flotilla is scheduled to depart for Gaza in the third week of June, about a year after Israeli forces raided a similar flotilla and killed nine people on a Turkish boat, the Mavi Marmara.

The Malaysian group, the Perdana Global Peace Foundation, said its ship was fired at when it tried to reach Gaza.

Perdana Foundation officials said the MV Finch left Greece on May 11, carrying plastic pipes to help restore the devastated sewage system in Gaza.

Gaza's prime minister, Ismail Haniyeh, condemned what he called "Israeli piracy" and urged other flotillas to try to break the Israeli blockade "so Gaza can have freedom of movement to the outside world."

Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman condemned Israel for preventing the ship from reaching Gaza.

"Malaysia strongly condemns the attack by the Israeli naval forces on the humanitarian aid ship," he said, calling on Israel not to take any further drastic and violent military action on the unarmed passengers.

"Malaysia also calls on Israel to ensure a safe passage for the vessel to Gaza to deliver the humanitarian cargo," he added.

Israel has maintained a blockade on the Gaza Strip since 2006.

Israeli military officials have confirmed that preparations are under way to stop any new flotilla.

RE: BREAKING NEWS: Israel's Attack on Humanitarian Ship to Gaza.

Peace should come as soon as possible.

At least someone her posted above one link to the ship's about face under Israeli force this morning. so it escaped the censors. Very good. I can stop searching.

RE: BREAKING NEWS: Israel's Attack on Humanitarian Ship to Gaza.

That's the ship we are talking about, so indeed it exists. Now what happened to it this morning? Why was all reference to it blacked off the internet? Censored???

The 'Rachel Corrie' ship to try to breach Gaza blockade next month

Left-wing groups planning on trying to reach Gaza with 8 ships containing 600 passengers, journalists.
By Yossi Melman

A coalition of left-wing groups are planning on trying to reach the port of Gaza next month with eight ships containing goods and 600 passengers, including journalists, an umbrella association of the groups said.

The flagship, which is to depart from the port of Dundalk, Ireland, is an old Lithuanian ship that has recently been refitted by volunteers from Dundalk and is to be named the Rachel Corrie.

Corrie, a 23-year-old human rights activist, was killed in 2003 by an Israel Defense Forces bulldozer while attempting to block the demolition of a house in Rafah.

The ship was purchased at auction for 70,000 euros by an organization called the Free Gaza Movement.

The organizers say the ship will be loaded with cement, paper, writing implements and medical equipment, which the IDF has prevented from reaching the Strip since the siege was imposed after the Hamas takeover in 2007.

Donated equipment is now coming in from Turkey, Norway, Britain and Ireland.

A coalition spokesman said that while Israel would probably try to stop the ship, out of eight ships that have tried to enter the Gaza port, five have been allowed in, which he said was encouraging.

RE: BREAKING NEWS: Israel's Attack on Humanitarian Ship to Gaza.

The reports I read spoke of a shipment of PVC pipe to repair the sewage systems in Gaza. I'm sure I read that this morning, remembering how clever it was to say it was plastic pipe, not the type used to make pipe bombs. i wonder why Israel is preventing PVC pipes?

RE: The Nakba

The Israelies demolished their settlements before they left. The Palestinians did not. Looking at both sides I'm sure you'll spot the difference.

Your second paragraph is gramattically flawed. I don't think anyone can understand your point there. Try again.confused

The conquest of lands by war is illegal under the UN Charter and that was passed and agreed to by all members of the UN long before 1967.

RE: BREAKING NEWS: Israel's Attack on Humanitarian Ship to Gaza.

I saw the early reports myself on the news sites I visit. I don't understand why they were pulled. It's my understanding the ship turned around and went back to el Arish. But the links this morning on the Israeli news sites are now missing. Censored? Hush hush?

RE: The Nakba

Was that the actual murder weapon? The view looks pretty open toward the front, where the blade is.

RE: The Nakba

thumbs up

A lot of former Palestinian towns don't exist in Israel any more. The names were changed or the homes destroyed and turned into farm land. Sad

RE: The Nakba

That's a good question. Why do you bother? If you really want to be true to your word, then you would not engage him, or me, or anyone who disagrees with you, like the chap from Jordan.

RE: The Nakba

MY g/f's mom was forced to flee Germany in 1938. Now, thanks to the generosity of Germany she (an American Citicizen) has the right to obtain German citizenship. Perhaps the Jews forced out of those Arab lands should seek it as well? Seems fair. But how many would go back?

RE: The Nakba

Propaganda. You should thank me for giving you the pretext to post it. Everyone can arm themselves and has a right to defense. Some ascribe to pre-emptive attack as a form of self defence.

RE: The Nakba

There was an article about that and seemed totally sane.

How does it feel to have who back, you? I;m not too pleased to tell you the truth.

The sad fred sad is rubbish though, very rude, not that you care.

RE: The Nakba

I america we all celebrate Martin Luther King Day. But in Israel Nekba rememberence is already illegal or they are trying to make it so.

RE: The Nakba

Sure, and he also said death to traffic, death to dropped cell phone calls, death to runny eggs, death to rainy days. Your point?

It's an expression of frustration, not a literal declaration to commit genocide - unless he really does want to kill eggs, clouds, cell phone providers, General Motors and Toyota.

RE: The Nakba

A cross post off topic here, and your post is unclear to me. Try to tighten up your questions instead of being obscure and hoping others figure it out after pages and pages of guessing.

RE: The Nakba

I think the op may object to going off topic in a big way.Start a thread on the topic if you wish.

No spiking the football! We need to remain civilized here. Take the high ground and carpe diem, so to speak, but don't brag about it!laugh

RE: The Nakba

Hi mate... nice to see someone from Jordan here posting. I thought folk from that country were blocked.cheers

RE: How did you come up with your CS name

Paldi = Pa for my state of residence + Audi for the car I used to drive.

RE: The Nakba

It's a colloquial expression there. They also say "death to traffic" etc. Not serious threat.

RE: burial at sea "demeans family"

Well you are right, there was no subject line. The link went to every name in my contact list... many of whom have deleted email accounts so those bounced back as undeliverable mail. I also got some email replies from friends asking WTF was I sending them?

Fortunately the link was benign:

RE: burial at sea "demeans family"

I wonder if you can explain the hack attack on my computer Friday night? A lot of folk got links sent to them from my computer (but not by me). Everyone in my contact list actually. You're really into this stuff, being in that branch of the military... Not accusing you, old man, since reading your strongly versed repeated denile but seeking you help in ferreting out the apparent hacker!

RE: I thought two coffee breaks a day were a great thing!

OK Merri.. but if the shoe was on the other foot and they discovered men who also need hourly relief from that curel pain what would that thread look like? More than just jokes?

RE: I thought two coffee breaks a day were a great thing!

Well, as a serious thread it sucks. Can you say lobotomy? confused
