Sigh no more, ladies, sigh no more. Men were deceivers ever. One foot in sea and one on shore, to one thing constant never. Then sigh not so but let them go and be you blithe and bonny, converting all your sounds of woe into hey nonny nonny.

France: 2 women arrested protesting new burka ban law
By REUTERS

Women wearing the Muslim nikab or full face veil will be fined 150 euro; law is first of its kind in Europe.

French police arrested two veiled women Monday morning just hours after a new law banning citizens from donning the burka, or full-face veil, in public, the Telegraph reported. The women were arrested along with several others while protesting the new law in front of the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris.

The Telegraph said that journalists at the protest noted that police had moved in to break up the demonstration in front of the cathedral because it was not authorized.

France's ban on full face veils, a first in Europe, went into force on Monday, exposing anyone who wears the Muslim nikab or burka in public to fines of 150 euros ($216).

A Muslim property dealer, who is urging women to keep wearing the veil if they want to, has urged supporters to go to Notre Dame cathedral in central Paris for a silent prayer during the day, and is also offering to help people pay the fines.

France's five-million-strong Muslim minority is Western Europe's largest, but fewer than 2,000 women are believed actually to wear a full face veil.

Many Muslim leaders have said they support neither the veil nor the law banning it.

The timing is all the more sensitive after France's ruling political party, President Nicolas Sarkozy's UMP, called a debate on the place of Islam in France, a move that some say risked stigmatizing a portion of the population.

Police received a guide last week to help implement the ban. It tells them not to remove veils by force. It also notes that the ban does not apply inside private cars but reminds policemen such cases can be dealt with under road safety rules.

Rachid Nekkaz, the man who called for the Notre Dame prayer, said in a webcast that he was putting a property worth around two million euros up for sale to help fund his campaign.

"I am calling on all free women who so wish, to wear the veil in the street and engage in civil disobedience," he said.

French police arrested 59 people on Saturday who turned up for a banned protest over the veil ban, one of them on arrival in France from Britain, according to a police spokesman.

THE WORLD'S FIRST X-RAY VIDEO GLASSES !

Devices currently in use for airport security are able to see through clothing quite well. These are true X-ray devices, using backscatter X-rays. The devices are not portable and use a typical X-ray display screen, not goggles. My objective it to miniaturize the equipment. Available soon! Expensive but very entertaining.

Solutions to the conflict in the Middle East (Israel/Palistine)

Seems there was some friction between the two sides of Hamas afterall. In any event they both have agreed to a truce.

RE: ....."....The full faith and integrity.."....?

"RealFast Cash for Gold" is holding an event today at the King of Prussia Mall here in sunny Pennsylvania.

You take your gold jewelry, class rings, stirling etc and they give you cash. They have a million $$ to give in exchange. Up to $500.00 for a class ring.

These ads are popping up everywhere. I suspect a bubble.

RE: we will have self charging electric car that can go to L.A. to NYC by the year?

The Gulph of California gets narrow up near Hermosillio and then widens. It's the perfect place for a dam.

Here's what you do -

Build dam, locks for shiping, turbines for electric generation.

Let the sun evaporate the "lake" north of the dam.

Open the inlets to the turbines.

Flip the switch.

Simple.

If you let the sea level drop enough before starting the turbines, you might get to reclaim some land too. Just make sure you don't let water flow in faster than the sun can evaporate it.

RE: Prospects for peace in Afganistan

rogerken: it's the same as ours was in the middle ages - remember the spanish inquisition and burning witches? (if you do that's showing your age) christians did all that..God love 'em"

So, you think in a thousand years or two the Taliban will rise to the level of witch burning and give up stoning? Gee, that's progress!

rogerken: "A war only ends after one side totally destroys the other - otherwise it never really ends" - General George S Patton

Wars aren't fought that way anymore. Sometimes it's enough to get one side to the point they lose the will to fight and then make up with them after a generation or two... Vietnam? We don't see any radical Vietnamese blowing themselves up on American soil. That war is over. It really did end.

I have a good book suggestion for you. It's about two giraffes... John & John.

Oh, you read it as a child? ... never mind.doh

RE: Prospects for peace in Afganistan

Colleene1024: I am so seriously confused! i have done alot of research. Some say the Taliban is god fearing, others say they are part of al quadia. Who exactly is the Taliban? Is there really two sides to them?"

Yes, god-fearing and they harbored and protected Al Quedia. They aren't Al Quedia. Though some individuals may be members. A/Q is a relatively small but scattered terrorist group. The Taliban is much larger and is made up of moderates and others (most?) who are more radical.

As to democracy, I would suggest that if you think your religion is "right" and is also the source or foundation of your "government" then there is no room for another view, hence no room for democracy. That's something you often see when a country is ruled by a theocracy.

Good mornin all.

RE: Thank You Italy For Your Hospitality....,This Is How We Say Thank´s

Well that's a source I hadn't considered. Thanks, I will revise teh Pauldi Plan accordingly to include a mix of Leigh's suggestion and yours. I like hers better. The frozen assets belong to Libyans, not the countries that voted for the intervention and caused the unplanned for refugee mess. Leigh thinks they should pay, if I understood her correctly. You two can debate the issue and report back.
