Oh very clever Sail, yes this country does touch the arctic circle and the seasons are traditionally 'the cold, dark one' and the 'warm, light one'.
Yesterday was Sumardagurinn Fyrsti the first day of the Icelandic summer. Traditionaly Iceland follows the Norse calendar and celebrates the two changes of the season with a bank holiday and plenty of festivity.
It's the first day of summer and as always it's a bank holiday and a time to celebrate the changing of the seasons. I'm told it's quite cold and it's been snowing this week, which is a good sign as when the two seasons merge it is suppose to bring a good summer
In this country with a population less than Cardiff there are however only two seasons, winter and summer. So the question I would like to ask is, does anybody know which country this is?
A man received a parrot for his birthday. This parrot was fully-grown with a bad attitude and worse vocabulary. Every other word was an expletive. Those that weren't expletives were, to say the least, extremely rude
The man tried hard to change the bird's attitude and was constantly saying polite words, playing soft music, anything that came to mind.
Nothing worked. He yelled at the bird, the bird got worse.
He shook the bird and the bird got more angry and exceedingly rude.
Finally, in a moment of desperation, he put the parrot in the freezer.
For a few moments he heard the bird squawking, kicking and screaming and then, suddenly, all was quiet.
The man was frightened that he might have actually hurt the bird and quickly opened the freezer door. The parrot calmly stepped out onto the man's extended arm and said: "I'm sorry that I offended you with my language and actions. I ask for your forgiveness. I will try to improve my behavior."
The man was astounded at the bird's change in attitude and was about to ask what changed him when the parrot continued, "...May I ask what the chicken did?"
I have already been told that my hat would be insufficient for the Aussie climate, apparently it would not protect my ears from the sun. However I am absolutely certain I will not be caught dead wearing any cowboy hat with with corks hanging from the brim. No offence to the sweet Aussie lady.
