Wore contacts when I was 18 and had a very bad infection which almost made me lose the sight from my right eye, so decided that no contacts for me, take it or leave it.

There was this bird (which was not a chicken) that laid an egg, and when the egg hatched the bird freaked out because its chick did not exactly look like it should be, that is, it did not look like its parent bird. A mutation had occurred and the first chicken was born.
First I was dying to finish my high school and start college. And then I was dying to finish college and start working. Then I was dying to find love, marry and have children; and then I was dying for my children to grow old enough so I could go back to work. Then i was dying to retire. Now I am dying and suddenly I realised I forgot to live.
Please don't let this happen to you. Appreciate your current situation and enjoy every day!
Honesty is always paramount, not only at the start of any potential relationship, but in life in general.
Having said that, you should ask yourself, why was the question posed in the first place and perhaps revert back the question to the person who put it forward in the first place.
Do you consider your past as a hurdle to starting something with someone you really like. Doesn't everybody have a past!
I have learnt that past is past, it has nurtured me into who I am today, into what I want and need in my present and future. And, if my past influences somebody's opinion about me in a negative way, then that is really not my problem but his or hers.
I really hope this is not your case and I do wish you luck, because at the end of day, it is what you are today that matters, and that is how others should see you!
It is the personality that really matters, looks are important only up to a certain extent, after all nobody is perfect.
A picture can only say a little about a person, it gives an impression of how a person looks in a certain situation, a particular moment or posture. Its an instant in the person's life.
I tend to joke about all my imperfections, nobody has ever seen nostrils my size, you could stick an entire hand in each one!
Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.
John Wooden (1910-, American basketball coach )
A healthy attitude is contagious but don't wait to catch it from others. Be a carrier.

What happens is not as important as how you react to what happens.

If there is something to gain and nothing to lose by asking, by all means ask!
W. Clement Stone (1902-2002, American businessman, author, founder of Combined Insurance Companies )
Don't be afraid of showing affection. Be warm and tender, thoughtful and affectionate. Humans are more helped by sympathy than by service. Love is more than money, and a kind word will give more pleasure than a present.
Sir John Lubbock (1834-1913, British statesman, banker, naturalist)
The quality, not the longevity, of one's life is what is important.
Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968, American Civil Rights leader, Nobel Prize winner, 1964
Whatever you do may seem insignificant, but it is most important that you do it.
