Check out "Fields of Gold" written by Sting but performed by Eva Cassidy. Much better than the Sting version. She died without getting the commercial success she deserved. Gone far too soon.
So many, too many to number, of Freddie Mercury's vocal performances in the last five years of his life. From "The Miracle" to "Im Going Slightly Mad" to "Breakthru" to "Headlong". Just one great performance after the other.
Gentle Giant are vastly underrated. As long as they stayed "progressive" and didnt go in for straight pop, like they did towards the end of their career.
Tehnicaally , because it's in Englash, it's not a spanish song. But, "Linda Paloma" by Jackson Browne is a great song. The vocal; is a bit weak in spots, ill bet someone out there could do a great cover version of that song.
Johnny Cash could do more, and did do more,, on that song just singing out of the side of his mouth. I dont know if he had a stroke or something prior to recording it. But, he sure had a lifetime of experience to draw upon.
The live portion of the album, with the songs that you mentioned, is pretty good. But, the studio portion of the album is uneven at best. "Gratchester Meadows"is OK, but goes on far too long. The same goes for "Sisyphus". "The Grand VIziers Garden Party" is a complete waste of space, that would only appeal to someone who is too stoned to get up and change the record. "The Narrow Way" is alright, i guess, but lyrically weak. In fact, this was the star of Roger Waters taking over the band lyrically.
There are so many obscure Dylan songs, that to choose just one is almost impossible. "Seven Days" by Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones, and "I'll Keep It With Mine" by Fairpory Convention".
American Rose by Karen Abbott. It's about Gypsy Rose Lee who was like the Paris Hilton of her day. No discernible talent, and she had a stage mom-from-hell to boot.
Just got back from a long vacation living in a cave and am looking for new music mostly. Thanks[/quote Anything by Anton Barbeau. He's a local (Sacramento) singer/songwriter. He plays a hybrid Beatles (British Invasion), Captain Beefheart/psychedelic mix of music
He falls into the category of "he could sing the phone book, and make it sound good." Check out his "version" of Mary Had a Little Lamb as proof of this
The music on this album is horrible but Ummagumma by Pink Floyd. It's basically a picture within a picture until the picture gets smaller and smaller. Pretty trippy stuff. Check it out!
Six plus years ago, sirus and XM 9before the merger) were faced with the conundrum: How to get people to paay for something they had previously gotten free-of-charge. The answer was Howard Stern. And it seems to have payed off. He was faced with the roadblocks. 1) How to get people, as i already mentioned, to pay for radio, 2) To convince people that the programming on XM sucks (when it doesnt), 3) That Hd radio, apart from the obvious content restrictions on language and commercial load, has nothing to offer (which isnt true, by the way. The bottom line is that he is a great salesman and could sell ice to an eskimo.
RE: femail singers..
