Ocee35: If I had to pick one, Norah Jones would be very high on my list....As for standing the test of time, no discussion of that type
should ever occur without the inclusion of Etta James. In my opinion.
Yeah, Etta James, a phenomenal talent.
My own favorite would be Annie Haslam of Renaissance:
Shame Youtube has nothing from her one solo album, Annie in Wonderland. The wordless track "Rockalise" is maybe the most astonishing vocal performance by anyone of either gender that I've ever heard.
StillOfTheNight: Sarah Brightman is awesome, hey :)
To be honest, this is the first time I've heard her but now that you've shared that song, I'm going to check out more of her songs!! Thank you so much hun

I like all of the singers listed on here most of whom are phenonmenal. My choices would be, in addition to the ones mentioned,
Amy Lee of Evanescence Patty Loveless Alison Krauss Brenda Lee Terri Clark Patsy Kline June Christy Ella Fitzgerald Joni Mitchell Emmy Lou Harris - - - as far as singers with a history
somewhat more recent choices - who I think will become time honored - Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Sarah Evans, Avril Lavigne
