Welcome! This was my first experience with an online dating site too. I have made many friends that I email daily. Beware, this forum can get addicting Best of luck in your search.
Dennoclan, if you download the google toolbar, it has a button you can click and it will check your spelling. This isn't meant in a mean way, I am trying to help. I am sure you meant republican?
I have given my phone number to several people with no ill effects. As far as I know, once you hit the send button, it is gone and no way to get it back. Just be careful and I am sure you will be fine. I don't think meeting people on here is any more dangerous than say, meeting in a bar. Best of luck, who knows, you may have sent your phone number to someone you could spend lots of happy times with!!
YES! Actually I have been thinking of this quite often. I have a lots of extra room (3 bedrooms) and a good job, and lots of love to give. It is just me and my daughter living alone and I have been thinking what a great idea it would be to foster some children. The thing that holds me back from making it happen........ I don't know that I could bring a child into my home, feed them, clothe them, love them, then have to give them up. I logically know this is the ideal situation, have them able to return to parents who have made changes in their lives or whatever, but if they were in a bad enough situation to be taken from parents, I would have a terribly hard time returning them to that.
I work from home so this would be an ideal situation for foster children. If I could just get myself over the block of thinking what happens when they have to leave.
My best friend is now adopting a newborn baby that was born drug-addicted. It has passed through the first court and interstate adoption has been granted. A few more steps and we will have this new baby in our lives :)
Luckily, I live in a very small town. Population of about 6,000. We have maybe two stop lights and one pizza place. There is never any kind of a traffic problem, unless someones cows got out and are standing around on the road. I have never found myself mad enough at a standing cow to want to "tip" her over or anything. Usually a few honks on the horn will make her turn and look at you, then you just drive around haha.
LOL Nope, I am having a great day!! As per usual :) But, why limit our friends? Or people who talk to us. Does this post not give some people fear of reaching out for friendship? Because they aren't the right age? I think that everyone can benefit from friends of any age and if someone takes the time to initiate this we could at least be polite enough for a few minutes of our time and answer them. Starting a thread to say how it makes someone throw up or ewwwwwww seems a tad mean to me. But, I am usually wrong lol.
Why are you on a site to make friends, if that isn't what you want to do, then I can see the puke icon. If someone emails you it is a compliment. If you can't take a couple of minutes out of your day to at least be polite, you aren't looking for friends. I have found both male and female friends here of all ages. You are really limiting yourself if you will only accept friendship from a male who is 19 years old, in med school and has 6 toes on one foot and 4 on the other. Ok, maybe that's a little overboard, but it goes to prove a point. I think the EWWWWWWWW thread is kind of mean. But best of luck to you in finding that ONE person you are looking for.
LOL your reading my mind again!! I try to never flert in public. An out and out flart is totally unexceptable. But, once in awhile, a little flert may escape then you can always blame it on the dog?
Ummm, I guess it all depends on which "team" you play for? Seriously, welcome and I hope you have as much fun and meet as many friends here as I have!!
If you have never had a pet before, I would suggest starting with the fish or maybe a turtle or some other aquarium animal. The mess stays contained. Cats are great, but they own you, not the other way around. The use a litter box, which has to be cleaned almost daily. They claw the furniture, and if you don't get them fixed right away, the males spray the walls to mark territory. If you do get a kitty, just be sure to have it fixed as soon as possible, they are like a gremlin that you water after midnight, one kitty can turn into 20 kitties in no time lol. Let us know how it works out for you
Of course I can only speak for myself, but when filling out my profile, that was one of the blanks. I didn't even carefully consider it, I just plopped in some numbers. I answer every flower and email I get. I would never get mad because someone showed an interest. Heck, it is flattering.
If you are interested in emailing someone, and your interests seem compatible, write to her and ask. The worst that can happen is she says she isn't interested, or ignores the email.
I don't consider age when gathering new friends. Hope you find some great friends here, no matter what age ;)
Although there may be some bad people online, there are bad people everywhere. Being careful is, of course, a very wise decision. But, I don't see that meeting friends online is any more dangerous than meeting them anywhere else. We hear horror stories of online dates gone wrong, but we also hear the stories of what is happening at churches, schools, bars. When you meet someone say in a bar. You are attracted to the persons looks, while online you become attracted to them intellectually. If you meet someone that you seem to be attracted to, and they ask for money........ then you should get a huge red flag. But, that would be the same in a grocery store correct? If the pretty lady ahead of you at the check out stand asked you to pay her grocery bill, you would move to the next line. Do the same here.
I hope you have as good of luck here as I have. I have met some people that I truly consider friends, both male and female. I didn't come here looking for my soul-mate. I came in search of new friends, and I certainly have found that.
RE: Death wish.
WOW........ I can't think of anything else except WOW :(
