What's there to do in Dayton, Ohio?

Gotta go to Dayton on a business trip. Will only be there one night. Any suggestions on what to do when I am not working? Nice place to eat? Any piano bars? Help!

RE: the babbling brook of senseless jabber (psycho babble reborn)

Skittles are Willy Wonka's rainbow and it is still cloudy out.

My Home's in Alabama.....

LOL! We never had to do washing in a pot, but....red mud abounds. When my son played little league, it was always a challenge to keep the white part of the uniform white. Between the red mud and the grass stains, I used a lot of Shout.....and not all of it came from a spray bottle. (Out, damn spot!)

Raynew,

Yes, we do have a wide fluctuation in temperatures here. Today, it is in the low 90's. Not much of a breeze. Thunderstoms expected later in the day. I like the wide range in temperatures, but summer is my favorite season. I don't like the cold.

I just might have to find me a tour guide named James and go for a visit.

Roy,

I never know when you are serious or when you are just poking fun. I remember coming home from a date one evening and smelling booze in the air. My date asked if my Daddy had thrown a drunk. We found out later that the revenoors (Spell?) had blown up a still on some land behind our house. We never knew it was there until it wasn't.

For me, Alabama is a warm and friendly place (not because everyone stays drunk). If people bump into you on the street, they turn and say "Excuse me", then end up talking to you like you were an old friend.

I love to visit other places, but I always come home. Maybe you should, too.

Hmmmmm. I just might have to make plans to visit. Sounds nice. And, I'll bet the accents are quite different, too. Love to hear different dialects and accents. Sights, sounds and smells of a place never visited!

Don't know about Miss Mel. Hopefully, she found her Prince Charming.

Utto, there must be a lot of Yankees on this site today. No responses! What type of bait must I dangle in order to get anyone to take a bite on this subject?

Yes, I am Southern born and Southern bred. Love this state with its mountains, lakes and sandy beaches. Have you ever visited this state? What did you like or not like about it? What is special about where you live? I need some new ideas for places to visit. Talk me into it!

RE: I love it when you.......

When you sneak up behind me, wrap your arms around my waist and softly kiss the nape of my neck.

RE: If you was going to make the perfect sandwich?

My favorite perfect sandwich is toasted white bread, laviously smeared with mayo on both sides, mayo salted and peppered (lots of black pepper), one side topped with crispy iceberg lettuce leaves, a thick slice of a big, red juicy tomato and then 4 slices of crunchy bacon. Yumm!

RE: Labor Day Weekend

The BEACH!!! My family (son, daughter-in-law, sister # 1 + husband, daughter, son-in-laws, 9 month old twins & sister, son & daughter-in-law, baby sister + husband and 16 year old son & 10 year old daughter and Mother) are all staying in a house right on the beach in Gulf Shores, AL. Family gets along great. Enough cars to get away if anyone starts getting on the nerves, but mostly, sun, sand and Margaritas!

RE: New Orleans

Cafe Dumonde...chickory coffee thick as mud and beignets....powdered sugar blowing in the wind if you sit outside.

RE: New Orleans

Mother's Restaurant on Poydras. Go through the line for breakfast, but you better not take long to decide what you want. The folks behind the food want you to yell it out and move along. Same thing @ lunch. Po boys! In the area where all of the attorneys downtown eat. (They have their runners go pick up lunch when they are having meetings in the office.)

Michaul's..locals eat and enjoy free Cajun dance lessons. Try a little alligator appetizer! Yum! Right on St. Charles.

The list could go on and on.....

RE: Strange Emails from Stranger People

Naw, the ex doesn't have a creative bone in his body. Wait, I take that back.....maybe one...but I digress!

RE: Strange Emails from Stranger People

Joanne,

I, too, have received several really strange emails from guys on some "other" free sites. The weirdest, I think, was one telling me all about the wonderful world of colonic cleansing and asking me to join him. It was one of the first emails I had received since my divorce. I almost decided to give up and join a convent!

Well, at least I can't say he was full of $h!+. (LOL)

RE: In a new relationship, what's "your" biggest peev?

Longest date......easy. Lunch w/this guy from another site. He was a salesman who had to tell me everything he had ever done in his life. Finally, it began to sound like something out of Charlie Brown....blah, blah, blah, blah.......... By the time that hour was over, I felt like I had lost a decade!

RE: Why don't women mean what they say?

I believe there are some women who have been taught, from childhood, to say what they think you want to hear. Not a good thing, but a possible explanation to your question.

RE: Why do younger women prefer older men

I was a younger woman........once....a long, long time ago. (LOL) I married a younger man. Stayed married for 22 years. It is difficult for me to think about being with someone a good bit older than I. I am still, more often than not, attracted to a younger man. Now, don't get me wrong! I am not talking about jail bait! I mean someone in their mid to late 40's. And then, I wouldn't rule out someone older. I just want to meet someone who is still full of life and a little daring. I want to find someone who is willing to step outside his comfort zone and get a little adrenalin pumping. For some reason, I have always assumed he would have to be younger. Bad assumption, huh?

RE: Favorites from the 80's...

My son becoming a teenager.

Heather Locklear posters on his wall.

Motley Crue music blaring from his bedroom.

Being the mother of a teenager during that decade took up most of my time. Can't remember much else. (Thank God, they grow up and move out on their own!)

RE: make me smile, i was dumped 2 days ago.

Tender,

You need to be kind to yourself, first. Until you learn to nurture yourself, others will just take advantage of you. You have a wonderful smile and you need to be happy. Only YOU can make you happy. Then, you can be happy with someone else. (I speak from experience. It has taken me over 50 years to learn that I have to be good to me. Now, I am waiting for the rest to fall into place.)

Hang in there! The right lady will come along. She will be lucky, too.

RE: Oh, wow, that is amazing!

RainbowSlider,

I think I have given up on the "perfect" match. Thought I had that once.....no, twice. No such thing. Right now, I would just settle for a handful of friends who like to cut up and joke around...even from a distance.

Keep posting in the forums. You are bound to find someone who strikes your fancy. And, even if you don't, you will usually find some stimulating conversation. Beats the heck out of watching TV!

RE: I have read that wisdom comes with age.

Old and Wise are not synonymous. Chronologically, I am old (or at least older than most on this site). However, I learn everyday that I am fallible. Hopefully, each mistake I make gives me the wisdom to refrain from repeating it. Maybe it is the knowledge that one still has much to learn that makes one wise? What 'ya think?

Work with me on this one, please!

OK, that was 5 lines. Time to start a new limerick. Please step up to the plate and start one. (But...don't use the old "There once was a girl from Nantucket!)

Work with me on this one, please!

And you might as well go ahead and pee.

But, all humanity is more than two and that much bare flesh means STDs.
