Probably Texasville by Larry McMurtry. No matter what is going on it always puts my life back in perspective.
I love to read and have many 'favorite' books. {I love books until it's time to move anyway, then I've been known to curse the dozens of boxes of books I end up with!}
Happy Reading!
For something different find a collection of Louis Lamore that aren't westerns. He was a sailor and a boxer, too and wrote about those times in his life. Good reads.
I stepped in here an while I am not on speaking terms with the Christian 'God', I do have my beliefs. Religion and 'God' are not the same thing.
I think it's funny that I just finished watching Dogma. A movie that was well researched despite its foul language and humor content.
No one can force you to believe in anything. That is our gift from those/ him/ her/ etc. above. We don't have to.
I saw Einstien mentioned inhere and wanted to add this. He was a brilliant man who while not devout, had his beliefs.
"I can't answer with a simple yes or no. I'm not an atheist and I don't think I can call myself a pantheist. We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many different languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangement of the books but doesn't know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God. We see a universe marvellously arranged and obeying certain laws, but only dimly understand these laws. Our limited minds cannot grasp the mysterious force that moves the constellations. I am fascinated by Spinoza's pantheism, but admire even more his contributions to modern thought because he is the first philosopher to deal with the soul and the body as one, not two separate things." Albert Einstien
There are many sites that detail his personal views on 'God'.
While I am not surprised by the comments made here so far, I am disappointed.
Sorry to hear your were mistreated. I may not agree with you, but as a voter, you have my permission (Not that you ever need it of course) to complain! At least you did stand up for what you believed when it mattered.
And if you ever waqnt to see something fun, go sit outside an airforce base late at night and look up. Especially in Missouri, Nevada, Arizona, West Texas, and anywhere else there is a sparse popluation.
I had a full copy of project blue book at one time, an Air Force copy. While most of the 'UFO' sightings were credited to something, about 15% were not.
While I cannot claim to know who or what is out there, I have my own opinions.
While I do not fully agree with Hennery on this, it does pay to look up once in awhile. Might be surprised at what you see.
I'll behave and put some jeans on. And a snappy front shirt. Still trying to figure out what to do tonight. I don't want to go out, but can't bear to stay in.
If given the choice, I'd date someone who was wealthy and famous because we cared about each other, the rest would be a bonus!
Only had the chance for awhile, and I loved it. You have to have someone to whom money is not an issue though. Especially if you're just a poor ranching kid.
You have to be a decent person about it too. I used to drive a '64 chevy to school and she'd come pick me up at lunch in her Jag. She thought my old heap was just as fun, because it was mine.
Their friends and family make a big difference, too. her dad liked me because I was hard working and well mannered. her mom hated me because I was poor. Her friends liked me, but some made it clear I didn't belong.
Money isn't everything, but it is a very important factor in a relationship. Most of my serious relationships ended because she found someone who treated her worse, but was able to spend more on her.
I'm looking forward to seeing what others have to say!
Mad Max Trilogy. (In fact, nearly all Gibson Movies.) The Alamo- All of them, the one with Billy bob Thorton is the best, though. Serenity Labrynth Roman Holiday Secondhand Lions (Most of this kid's movie's too, like Pay it Forward.) Red Dawn Tombstone A Smile Like Yours Dark Crystal
Butler- until I was about 7 mainly because it was all I knew how to do. Paleontologist- until I was twelve and realized I'd never be able to go to afford college. Mortician- I likedthe thought of a quiet workplace. Rancher- I got to do this and will again. Phychiatrist- this was about the time I realized my family was insane and I thought I might be able to help. Border Patrol Agent- I really wanted to do some good. Architect- I like to design homes, this is my current educational goal, has been for about 6 years.
And throughout it all, Writer, Father, and just be successful.
Robert Earl Keen said it best in It's the little things...
It's the way you stroke my hair while I am sleepin' It's the way you tell me things I don't know It's the way you remember I came home late for dinner Eleven months and fourteen days ago
CHORUS
It's the little things the little bitty things Like the way that you remind me I've been growin soft It's the little things the itty bitty things It's the little things That piss me off
It's the note that you leave on the breakfast table With a list of things to help me plan my day It's the way you say we could have If you'd done the things you should have It's the little things Darlin that make me feel this way
CHORUS
It's the little things the little bitty things like the way that you remind me I've been growin soft It's the little things the itty bitty things It's the little things That piss me off
