How many

Do you mean the IT developments, or the newer Quantum knowledge or or both or something else?

RE: Should Gail O Rorke have been acquitted?

Who is that?

RE: Mary Jane Veloso's recruiter surrenders

Would the recruiter have come forward if Indonesia had not acted as if the execution was planned?

Which was a better discovery, round things roll (wheel) or burn means hot (fire)

He can roll there on his wheel and build a fire at the entrance to scare them away. :)

RE: Nepal is dying and Baltimore is burning and nobody is talking about it

You know as well as I do he doesn't get involved for free. One wonders how much his coming is costing MD residents. Noting also we have yet to here the identity of who was printing and distributing the fliers calling for yesterday's riot several days before and where the money to print those fliers came from.

Do you have a two month supply of food and water on hand?

With 300 million other people tromping around in the woods shooting deer and rabbits or whatever moves for food, just how many hours do you expect the deer supply to last? laugh

Do you have a two month supply of food and water on hand?

Okay, latest news is the only airport closed again for resurfacing after this mornings aftershock. Hopefully that won't take long.

Do you have a two month supply of food and water on hand?

They have been non-stop since the airport was pronounced safe again. Also a half dozen other countries. Means nothing though without any open roads or helicopters to deliver the supplies. A mountain of supplies 3 stories tall and no way to distribute it. It is only today maybe 30 hours after the earthquake the first small helicopter reached the city of Pokhara where the hospital itself allegedly had collapsed. The helicopter stayed an hour then left. No news or casualty figures from that area have been announced. As you can see from the aerial photo at
the town of Gorhka is effectively leveled. With two epicenters to deal with and a lack of roads to get to such places what you had in your possession before the earthquake is probably all you will have for weeks to come.

RE: Why are so many Irish men on CS looking for women?

It is probably really just 2 or 3 guys with 1,000 fake profiles each. laugh

Do you have a two month supply of food and water on hand?

Of course it does. Now add a few 1 or 5 pound bags or jars of beans or rice (or both) and maybe a jar or two of honey, some salt, and some canned fish.
Maybe also some one a day with minerals and vitamins.

Those simple acquisitions put you light years ahead of millions of other folks today.

Do you have a two month supply of food and water on hand?

If you wish a what for regarding disaster preparation, look at the Nepal region today.

The only supplies coming in today and probably for the next few days come in by military C-130, thus far feeding the capital will probably be their priority. The roads are simply impassable and the bridges are down. The commercial flights are probably a month from resuming, but even then, the distribution infrastructure has been destroyed.

Yes, in the rural areas some folks will be able to eat what is there. But in the other towns and cities? The food the residents have is all there will be, possibly for weeks to come and the tertiary death toll will possibly be very large a month from now.

RE: Time For Spring Cleaning In The US? Should We Get Our House In Order?

Pass a law, make anything more than two terms of any Federal Seat illegal. Pass a second law and give the appointment of Senators back to the State legislators.

RE: Should Foreigners get U.S. citizenship because they visited Disney World

They ain't gonna change it. They worked too hard to get it passed. That Amendment's history goes back a long time.

RE: Is Death Penalty or Capital punishment a good justice?

I think calling the Death penalty a deterrent or a punishment is a grievous mistake. It is not either one and it should never be viewed as such.

The Death penalty is instead societies Solution for the all important question what can we do to this dangerous person that absolutely, positively ensures this monster will never again harm any other innocent?

There exists only one answer. Death.

RE: MASSIVE ARRIVAL OF IMMIGRANTS, CAN WE ESCAPE FROM THEM ???

A new study released today is alleging that 1) the flow of migrants can only grow, and, 2) the push is not domestic unrest or social issues but instead desertification of the African continent. As more and more farmland dries up, moving to areas that still have water becomes more and more logical. Europe beckons.

RE: If HIllary becomes president

The Uranium story is just the first. A few months ago the Clinton Fund folk were very adamant they had been completely upfront about all foreign contributions. Today they suddenly refiled amended copies of prior years reports because the Post had been investigating that statement and found multiple omissions and some not quite truths.

RE: Want honest comments

I would say that was a good honest answer and commensurate with my own thoughts.

China warns the US has under estimated the number of North Korea nukes.

If launched from 10 feet away, sure. Fact is they have yet to have a good launch and flight of their 1960s type ICBM.

Now their SCUD Ds are nice, but the range isn't quite up to what you claim.

China warns the US has under estimated the number of North Korea nukes.

I have no belief one way or the other, I just copied the lead paragraph of the news story. You will have to read the whole thing, and do your own inquiries to find out if it is true. Please let us know your findings when done.

RE: Is Death Penalty or Capital punishment a good justice?

If, as you write, it is impossible to kill their essence, then taking away their body does them no harm.

If you believe murder is a crime conceived of by religious bigots, then we have a separation here.

Execution here is not a punishment. It is a solution. Society has determined you are a danger and always will be. Execution prevents recidivism beyond any shadow of a doubt. Nothing else can make that claim.

RE: Want honest comments

Here is another issue, which I hadn't picked up till just now, CLIENT.

Did the group bill the client for the trip and the time?

Did the client have to pay extra for the time spent while the employee was shopping? That would clearly justify a firing I think, also an apology to the Client and maybe a redacted bill, which means a dollar loss to the employer caused by the employee actions.

RE: Is Death Penalty or Capital punishment a good justice?

In the US we have learned nothing else so absolutely makes it impossible for a killer to kill again.

In those states where the death penalty was abolished and life imprisonment became the norm there exist individuals who had their death sentence commuted to life imprisonment and continue to kill while in prison, both guards and other inmates. This is of course both unfair to those imprisoned with such people, and also the way it is. Other states simply execute those earning the privilege.

Second Magma chamber found under Yellowstone

Deep beneath Yellowstone National Park, one of the world's most dynamic volcanic systems, lies an enormous, previously unknown reservoir of hot, partly molten rock big enough to fill up the Grand Canyon 11 times, scientists say.

China warns the US has under estimated the number of North Korea nukes.

US intelligence experts had estimated this year that North Korea may have between ten to fifteen nuclear warheads by now.

Seoul (AFP) - Chinese nuclear experts believe North Korea may already have a nuclear arsenal of 20 warheads and the uranium enrichment capacity to double that figure by next year, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

RE: Want honest comments

Laws vary from place to place. Private employers are not government agencies and the rules are different. Here, any person may be fired at any time for ANY reason whatsoever. Generally speaking here, if it is a firing, you get no unemployment check. If it was really a lay off, then it is up to you to prove that in a hearing. Many fail to do so. This keeps costs low for both the State and the employer who has to contribute money if someone is laid off.

Also as someone else points out above, sometimes a boss just gets tired of seeing you then finds a technical reason (in states that require such) to fire you. Ten seconds late on returning from lunch one day six months ago. That works. The US Post office once fired a worker for using a paper towel in the Post Office bathroom to clean their eyeglasses. Reason for dismissal? Misappropriation of Govt. Property. Paper towels had been placed there to dry hands with, not clean personally owned eyeglasses. Merit Systems Protection Board agreed the firing was justified and case law was established.

Do you have a two month supply of food and water on hand?

Well you have to decide in advance how, within what the law and reality allows, you will react when not friendly mobs or thieves come looking for the food you set aside for your children and yourself.

Run away and yield it all to them? Battle their guns with your kitchen knife? Or meet their force with equal or greater force?

Some decide option one is better than violence and maybe the Lord will feed their children anyway. Others believe if they don't own guns, the thieves will respect that and not have any of their own. Some go with option three when it is permissible.

In the US, do you support 420 being made a national holiday?

Marijuana (along with most other drugs) used to be legal choices to purchase and use as you pleased. Not written into many movie plots, but in the Old West and early 20th century America has just as many addicts as today, maybe even more if we go by percentage of population. Prescriptions were not a requirement. You just went to the chemist and purchased as much Opium or Cocaine as you wanted. Marijuana was a common weed growing almost everywhere. The stalk was used to make a rope (hemp) many still find superior to the synthetic ropes.

Allegedly (and they may be correct) the original ban on Marijuana was rascially motivated. Controlling the behavior of non-whites was the original goal. See

The 'War against Drugs' in America has never had as it's primary emphasis 'do not get high.' Simply put, there would be no profit in that. Nancy Regan's 'Just say no.' was made a mantra, but primary money allocation was for increased policing and expansion of jails. Along with confiscation of any personal assets linked in any way to someone using illegal drugs or smoking pot. Although some news stories surface from time to time about SWAT teams seizing large acerages, or million dollar mansions in marijuana raids, most law enforcement emphasis against marijuana possession remains in the inner city minority occupied areas. SWAT attacks on upper crust neighborhoods whose residents use marijuana are rare. Currently the Federal government rewards police departments that make lots of drug arrests with financial grants to hire more officers, buy newer equipment, etc. Likewise under our Title 21 Drug Laws, the asset forfeiture process provides for the agency doing the most work on the case to be the recipient of the money received when the property is seized and sold by the US Marshals service. If multiple agencies are involved the US Attorney distributes the money to the departments based on the percentage of work done. This has been the primary financial motivation for joining and participatingn in inter-agency task forces. Whatever money is seized by raiding a bank account or seizing cars, or houses is then evenly devided by simple participation in the task force.

Regarding the question of how the changing drug laws impact the states, clearly the money going to the police has dropped, but the taxation of the sales has given a huge boost to Colorado's economy. People come from all over the US to buy some (authorities wait at the borders for them to exit). Naturally many Americans who like smoking a joint at the end of the day have begun to move to that state.

Do you have a two month supply of food and water on hand?

Interesting. In America it is part and parcel of our Federal Emergency Management Agencie's (FEMA) advice for all Americans.

As jokingly suggested by a former FEMA head, 'everyone should be individually prepared for a zombie apocalypse and to hunker down through it.'

Disaster preparation is called Disaster Mitigation, which ranges all the way from stockpiling supplies, a plan for obtaining and cleaning water, extra blankets, fuel for an emergency generator, planning and discussing rendezvous points with family members, identifying the direction of possible threats (tsunamis, nuclear plant disasters, etc.) and pre-planning your best 3 evacuation routes (again thought to rendezvous points for other family members traveling other routes), possible discussion of cooperative plans with trustworthy neighbors, etc.

After the Regional Disasters of Hurricanes Katrina, and Sandy the value of pre-planning and mitigation proved it's worth in gold for some families. No one needed 2 months worth of food, but for that first week as many bridges were closed and nothing came into the damaged stores, knowing your own family had food and other supplies made things a lot easier for some.

One can go high dollar if they wish, pre bagged, precooked individual meals, or one can go low tech, low dollar. A few extra bags of rice and dried beans, maybe some dried fish or meat supplemented by a bottle or three of vitamins with minerals, and an ability to filter and boil water.

It is important to remember that while it is all very nice to imagine that the Government will shelter and provide for me and my children, and while the Government before the disaster hits may actually wish to do so, in reality.. Sometimes the disaster is big enough that your own local Government may need the help of other external Governments just to climb back onto it's feet before even being capable of thinking about anyone else. That can add days or weeks to government response. Again in such times, having predetermined plans and some measure of self sufficiency is nice.
