I think it is really cool that you can meet and chat with people from all over the world online… However, I think this would be taking it a bit to far for me… Maybe a little too much like sitting in a costume at a round table with a bunch of introverts playing Dungeons and Dragons… LOL
If she is an American public school teacher… Unfortunately, you will have to deal with her ignorance all year long and pray that your child gets a more intelligence teacher next year… We get what we pay for!!!

I believe that it does not matter how much baggage you have in your life, rather how you used it to grow as a person… I have found that those who have experienced very little trauma or asperity in their lives lack something in their character. JMO
You should not pass up someone who says they like to travel... People who really can't afford to travel may state that they like it and hope to some day... or the person stating that they like to travel may be loaded and willing to pay your way to travel with them if they like you.... LOL
Anyway... I don't really pay much attention to what someone writes in their profile... Unless it cracks me up... I look at their picture and then accept conversation with them if they are appealing to me... If the conversation does not flow and I don't find them interesting... I move on...
