RE: A stye in my eye! (Ouch)

A stye is similar to a pimple but it is near and around the eyelid, where the skin is much more sensitive and there for more painful than getting a normal pimple. A hot tea bag works because it helps to draw out the 'poison' or puss that makes the stye form. There really is no rhyme or reason why some people get them and others dont. I would say if it happens often then looking into getting an eyelid cleanser (sold at your local pharmacy, usually in same isle as contact solution). The hot wet wash cloth is a great idea as well for the same reason as the tea bag. Some like the tea bag because it seems to stay warm longer. The wash cloth is better because you can reuse it more often. Just be sure that you wash the wash cloth afterwards and don't let anyone else reuse it because you don't want to spread an infection, just in case it could be full conjuctivitis. If you see an eye doc, they will pretty much tell you what i just did. I know because i work for one. Good luck and hope i have helped a bit!

Take care,

RE: No child left behind???

I don't think the 'No child left behind' rule works for all of the same reasons above. I do like the year round school though. I also find it silly that all the children get to play on the teams and that they have done away with so many of the fun games that were played when i was in school. Dodgeball anyone? 'Experts' say that our children are now more obese then they have ever been but they want to take away the games that kids actually WANT to play. How is that for 'expert' parenting? Whats a few bruises to a kid? I bet if you asked a school whether they would rather have less bruises or be able to play dodgeball, i think they majority would pick dodgeball. All because some pansy parent with a pansy child....... frustrated frustrated sigh

RE: someone comes out of the bathroom with

I would tell them! I would also tell someone to wipe their nose if they had a boogie trying to escape or to check their zipper if it was down!
I would want someone to tell me if any of those happened to me. I think it is common courtesy....of course it is not to common but it would still be the right thing to do. scold handshake

RE: HAVE YOU ANY BIG REGRETS ABOUT LIFE ?...DO YOU WISH YOU COULD CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT LIFE ?

My only regret is that I did not take more pictures of my son before he passed at 7 weeks of age. Babies are cute but they don't do more than sleep in those first few weeks so not many pictures are taken. crying crying crying

RE: what song brings a tear to ur eye??

Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler, it was played at a funeral of a person that was very near and dear to my heart.

Who You'd Be Today by Kenny Chesney for the same reason. First time I heard it I had to pull over I was crying so hard. crying

and last but not least......

Missing you Originally done by Sting but I like the hip hop version with P. Diddy and Faith Hill (not the country goddess) Also for the same reasons as above.

The lack of rain! I miss the rain, and the green!

RE: Whats a guy to do to get a girl in az?

Be willing and able to have a conversation via the phone. Girls have to be careful, well anyone should be careful with who they meet off the internet, therefore, a few phone conversations is a personal way to get to know another before going face to face. Depending on the girl and the situation will dictate the length of time that is needed. Be patient, the right girl will pop up when you least expect her to.

I second the having a fun personality! There is more to dating then going to the movies! How do you get to know a person in a quiet theater? Im a big fan of goofy golfing and science musuems. One usually does not lack for conversation in either situation.

Good luck!

RE: PONDERINGS.......

If the airport is so safe why do they call it a terminal?

If the little black box is made of undestructible material, why don't they make the entire plane of the same thing?

Why do we park on a driveway and drive on a parkway?

Why are they called buildings when they are finished, shouldn't they be called builts?

Why are they called apartments when they are so close to one another?

You can tell a person that there are hundreds of thousands of stars in the sky and they will believe you. Tell them there is wet paint on the park bench and they will have to touch it! Why??? confused

If you loan a friend $20 dollars and never see them again, you got away cheap!

RE: How many hours do you sleep ?

I average about 3 hours a night. If i get more than 5 hours in a night, I've slept too much and am cranky the next day. mumbling

RE: I just need advise

My only advice is to do what is in the best of interest of the baby. Being a parent doesn't mean doing what you want. In fact, being a parent often means you will do things you really don't want to do. I have a four year old and I don't want her to go to school. The prospect of putting my darling into public school with all the craziness in the world is a HUGE fear. Besides that, Im that parent who calls the babysitter a few times a day just to check on how things are doing. Im getting better, limiting myself to one call per day now but when she goes to school I won't be able to make ANY calls. Then there are the teachers...I don't get to prescreen the teachers like I did our babysitter. But back to the subject at hand, sorry.... I took my daughter and walked away from her father when she was six months old. It was one of the hardest but best decisions I have ever made. Now, over three years later, he and I have some sort of passable relationship in which we can talk civilly to one another. Also, my daughter has only known us living in seperate houses. Not like daddy just 'went away' one day. I think that helps to keep the abandonment issues that a lot of children that go thru with divorce go thru. I say, as much as it hurts, it could potentially hurt the baby more not to be given the chance to know its father, especially in a case where the dad WANTS to step up to the plate. comfort handshake

Good luck.

RE: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE?

Beauty and the Beast

Favorite 'feel good movie' is Evolution

Spiderman!!! He is my favorite superhero! Also liked the second and third of those movies.

The first and second Pirates of the Caribbean rate high on my list.

Pride and Prejudice and Ever After.

Almost forgot....Count of Monte Cristo!

I can (and do, on what is probably a sad regular basis to some) watch thses movies over and over and over and over again!

RE: What Is So Wrong With Going To A Bar??

I don't think there is anything wrong with going out to a bar. I do think that it is not for everyone (me for instance) and that it is not exactly a place to meet and get to know someone. How do you have a conversation when you have to shout at the other person? I am all for going to the bar with a group of friends to drink, relax and dance but everyone is different. I personally would choose to do something different with my time. cheers

RE: Weird Dreams

I had the same dream twice from two different perspectives. confused In the first version I was a girl with a group of friends being chased by an alligator thru the woods. I woke up after I had locked myself in some basement like place that was filled with knee deep water. Then when I went back to sleep I had the same dream only this time I was the alligator doing the chasing. It was so real, I could feel the blood coursing through me and was able to taste the murky water in my mouth!

Not the first time or last time I have dreamed I was an animal. Though it always seems to reptiles. Had a dream in which I was a dinosaur once.

Last night, crying I had a sad dream that my roommates snake tried to eat my pet rats! Lucky for me, the snake didn't get my babies! dancing

RE: Home Schooling V constant battles with Teachers.....

I was part of a home school group when I was in high school. Being an overachiever, it gave me the chance to attend college classes while still earning high school credits. Bonus, it was a program the state paid for. I even had a friend that was home school (in this particular group) that graduated from high school with an AA degree from college at the same time. Anyways what I am getting at, is that it was a home school GROUP. There were several different families across the state that all home schooled their children and we would get together for different activities depending on the age and that helped with social experience. We even had a prom! We brought our own dates that may not have been home schooled but it was still our own prom! The older kids could earn 'volunteering' extra credit for helping to supervise when the younger groups got together. There was even a principal. That may be something you could look into if you are concerned about the lack of socializing your child may be exposed to. There were a couple of children in our group that had autism. It worked well because they got to go at their own place but still got to do things in groups such as going to the zoo to help teach them interaction.

My mom turned EVERYTHING into a lesson. When we went shopping we had to keep track of all the prices as we went along and have the total with and without tax ready before we got to the check out. Made shopping last longer but taught me to value my money and how better to manage it. In public school you rarely learn something like that.

RE: What would your "Dream" job be?

RE: Cooking for Yourself

Chef Boyardee is the greatest! I believe you can google simple recipes. My friend takes bread, cuts off the crust then uses a rolling pin (we actually use a glass because we don't have a rolling pin) to flatten it out, then she adds normal sandwich fixings. Its a nice change over the normal sandwich. Her boys especially love them and we find that while the rolls look smaller than a regular sandwich they seem to be more filling. Go figure. Only word of caution...jelly doesn't do to well in them. Usually squishes out when you try to roll it up. :D

RE: Cooking for Yourself

Try to have 'dinner parties'. You can cook for a small gathering of friends or family. Make a bit extra for left overs. It appeases your need to try something a bit more than the usual, and keeps you from giving in to the already prepared frozen foods. Though I will totally admit that we are a big fan of spaghetti Os in my house. If they are Dora shaped my pookiebear will most likely eat them! Score! dancing comfort

RE: Being Single in AZ......

Well i am not from AZ originally but i do live here now and would have to say for me i would rather go to a museum or goofy golfing or to the zoo as a first date. Goofy golfing is just silly and that is a great ice breaker. At a museum or a zoo there would be several things that could help to keep the conversation flowing smoothly. Besides that, im a hyper person and tend to fidget when nervous so going somewhere that i could walk around i like to think keeps my date from being overly weirded out by my constant state of motion. wave

RE: Yull know shes the right one when you first meet her

I love Waffle House!!! When I drove here from FL I made it a point to stop at a Waffle House in nearly every state I drove through! Im a dork, its okay i know! banana
