Can you imagine if your job was being an alarm clock? If you did your job well, people get angry. If you DIDN'T do your job well they'd get even angrier!
Akron, the Rubber City, used to be a very vibrant town with a lot of good paying jobs with companies like Firestone and Goodyear.
Now it's like a lot of ex-industrial cities. Underemployment (working for significantly less than you're worth) is very high since most of the new jobs fall into the minimum wage category. The local polititcians are making a big deal about how a national sports equipment chain store will be opening here eventually and will create a lot of jobs. Yeah... clerks and stockboys and other high paying jobs such as these.
There used to be basically two kinds of jobs for adults: White collar and blue collar. What I'm seeing these days is a growing third category I call "paper hat."
It originally had a cassette, but I did eventually get a floppy drive for it. It can store a whopping 80k on one disk!! Of course, if it's a bootable disk that gets cut about in half.
What you said was "You're a success in life when you don't give a damn what anybody thinks of you or what anybody says, you're happy and you're free.In other words, you're a success when you wake up to life and reality."
Street people obviously don't care what anyone thinks or says. Many of them are happy, and in many ways freer than most of society. As for reality... I believe people with street smarts know more about reality than just about anyone.
If income is the criteria by which success is measured, then social skills (or lack of them) is by definition irrelevant.
