It's not about pecking order but from a personal selfish point of view. You stated that YOU are grieving, but you also have to consider the many people who are grieving as a result of losing a loved one. The pain & suffering of losing a close family member. Many people lives will never be the same and a father or child can never be replaced, unlike a pet.
I've also lost pets.. tragic as it was and I did shed many tears, losing a father & more recently, a brother & watching him suffer bravely to his last breath & seeing his 3 daughters fatherless cannot even compare to losing a pet.
Dogs are loyal to anyone who feeds them.. they love their owners because they rely on them to survive. It's a well known fact that dogs will be loyal to anyone who feeds them.
I'm no spring chicken myself! Im 53, like most people my age, but that doesn't deter me from having a full and active life. It just takes a little longer to get there.
