Just clicked into this thread with great interest as I am going on a first date tomorrow..thanks to all who contributed even thought wasnt actually meant for me
This post i can also relate to, my daughter has a learning disability, and while I have to be realistic, I do try and focus on her abilities and encourage her to do what she can while passing little comment about things she cant do.
Couldnt agree with you more, I was in a similar relationship and had very low self esteem at the end of it (14 years) I remember going shopping with my sister about a year after we split up and ran into my ex sister in law, she commented on how much I had changed in the year but my sister pointed out that no I hadnt changed but the real me was back.
