RE: ARE THERE ANY REAL WOMEN LEFT?

I'll give you a challenge. Who was the best Power Ranger and why?

RE: Encouragement and quote thread to lift up ourselves.

It will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end.

RE: chat up lines!!

I don't do chat up lines because I'm rubbish at them. My worst attempt was when I had wee business cards made up as I had moved house after my separation. I was fairly drunk one night and gave one of them to a random good-looking woman in a pub whom I hadn't even talked to before and said that if she fancied a meal, should could call me.

She must have lost the card, because she hasn't called, and that's been over 6 months.

No, I haven't been in that pub since!

RE: Best concerts you've seen? Yep, I still go to concerts :)

Because I'm an old guy, I tend to see old bands. Recently I've seen:

Wishbone Ash - still giving it big licks and still a good night.

Devo - my 17 year old daughter wanted to see them and none of her pals would go. I saw them about a zillion years ago, and I have to say that their age didn't diminsih what is an outstanding live show.

The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - all the originals but obviously without the late Alex. Great stuff.

The Proclaimers - I'm not a fan, but I went to see them before a big Scotland football match, and the venue was fiull of drunken Scots nutters. The place was mad for them.

And one Scottish band who will be unknown to all of you - the Peatbog Faeries. Make an effort to track down some of their recent stuff. You will not be disappointed. Rock meets bagpipes. Mind-blowing.

RE: I want the impossible

Better - you can hardly see it. Put it in the bin!!! Now I'm starting to sound like my mother.

Best of luck, big fella.

PS - if you do manage to go out with a nurse and she insists on wearing her uniform, I would just go with the flow if I were you!

RE: I want the impossible

Nurses have to deal with people who are not at their best, whether patients or worried relatives, all the time. So maybe they are a bit more receptive to genuine people rather than flash ones. If they see that you obviously care for your mother, then they are likely to see you in a good light. That's a start, eh?

I'll not mention the shirt again, but stop putting yourself down. Been there, done that, and women do not find it an endearing quality.

You're not a porker - you're well rounded!

RE: I want the impossible

I would say that you should be prepared to accept an "imperfect" woman, otherwise you may have a very long wait.

Take your ten "wants" and be prepared to compromise on (say) three of them. You might be surprised that "imperfections" are actually attractive qualities or, when you meet the person, are not really a problem at all. Go to a pub and then head for a stroll on the sands.

Everyone has good and bad characteristics; hopefully the bad ones are not too bad at all.

Can I make another suggestion? Dump the photo with the old polo shirt!!! Definitely keep the smile, but the polo shirt looks very 1970's. Hopefully that's not too personal.

Best of luck ..... and don't give up!!!

RE: Just a little moan...

I have no intention of coming on this site and getting into this sort of nonsense. Ignore me and I'll ignore you. How about that?

RE: Just a little moan...

Well, they can't speak English. Maybe they're asylum seekers.

RE: Just a little moan...

Aye, the nonsense on here is really embarrassing. And do you notice that the worst ranters can't even write in English? What does that say about them and their views?

I feel a bit better now.

Peace and love!

RE: Is this not meant to be a dating site?

Unless the hot date was with Hillary!

If you're reading this, Hillary, I am waiting for your call.

RE: Should we continue with the olympic games in China?

Boycotting the Olympic Games means nothing. It just means that possibly someone other than the best athlete wins a gold medal.

If governments really want to do something about Tibet, they should take action themselves such as impose economic sanctions. However, that is feasible where you target smaller countries like Iran or Cuba who have no real significance in the big picture, but not a super power like China. Why? Because China are too important a trade ally now to the West. Who is going to risk the wrath of big business?

Anyway, there are many more countries who are worthy of condemnation in the world - ask the Palestinians how they are being treated by the Israelis; ask how foreign workers are treated in Dubai; it goes on and on.

Sport is sport - politicians should stay out of it.

Besides, I am a sure thing for the 100 metres this year and I don't want my chances ruined by a boycott.

RE: who knows ATATURK?

My limited knowledge of him is that he is loved in Turkey and widely respected abroad. He saw what he wanted for his country and just got on with the job. One of the great modern world leaders, I would say.

RE: would you spend the night with the one above.

I keep visiting this thread, and each time I get some guy called Tumpa above me! It's just not fair!

PS - it's no, you'll be glad to hear, Tumpa

RE: Who was the best Rocker Guitarist Ever, from the list below!

Jimi!!!!

But I also liked John McLaughlin - he was awesome when I saw him live.

RE: What Are You Listening To?

And which Spice Girl would you like to be?

I remember sitting through the Spice Girl film with my wee girl at the cinema nightmare!), and learning the moves to "Stop Right There" to dance about the living room with her. Halcyon days!!!

PS I quite fancied Sporty, but graduated onto Ginger. Neither of them answered my letters. Women!

RE: SHOULD ZIMBAWAE NOW GIVE THE LAND BACK THAT IT TOOK FROM THE WHITE FARMERS ?

Me, garbled, lofty? No, I don't think so.

Ok - a few questions. Pre-Mugabe, how many large farms were owned by black farmers? Pre-Mugabe - how able were black Africans to take out loans "to partake of the richness of the land"? How many black Africans were there in Ian Smith's government?

I fully accept that the white farmers were the bedrock of the Rhodesian / Zimbabwean economy and worked very hard to make a success of their enterprises, but was the old Rhodesia under Ian Smith a happy-go-lucky utopia if you were black? Better than now, obviously, but how many of the really poor under Ian Smith were white?

Everyone knows that the people who were given the farms were the wrong people - it was just a stunt by Mugabe which has cost the country dear.

Give me credit for the criticism I make of Mugabe and his cronies. As I said, he should be strung up.

Anyway, this is all empty talk as the fact is, the guy has ruined a country and will be allowed to walk off into an idyllic old age with his pockets full.

RE: SHOULD ZIMBAWAE NOW GIVE THE LAND BACK THAT IT TOOK FROM THE WHITE FARMERS ?

Would any of them want to go back? Mugabe and his cronies have destroyed Zimbabwe. Any semblance of order, democracy and justice has gone. Hopefully the country will be able to get back on its feet, but you wouldn't want to bet on it.

Answering the question....where did the white farmers get the land from in the first place? That said, whilst the old Rhodesia was a totally unjust place (rich whites and poor blacks), the new Zimbabwe is undoubtedly a much worse place for everyone....except if you are a pal of Mugabe. The man should be strung up.

RE: worst possible names for you children

The other Geldof brat is called Pixie.

Get a grip, Bob! And you want people to take you seriously......!!!

RE: worst possible names for you children

Bob Geldof and Paula Wilcox did a great job for their kids: Fifi Trixibelle, Peaches (although I actually like that one) and ...what is the other one? Moon Unit / Dweezil Zappa!!

And what about idiots who name their kids to make them sound like a product or place:

Carling Bassett - is she named after the brewery, or is the brewery named after her?

Paris Hilton

There is a girl in Glasgow whose first two names are Porsche Carrera and, honestly, there is a guy here called Elvis Pressley (two "s"s).

RE: Bipolar disorder

I know someone who has a daughter with this, but I haven't a clue about it apart from the effects. Is it a physical condition?

RE: The Fortune Cookie Game....

I can just about remember when my favourite things happened...in bed!!

RE: what would you do on your's first date !!!!! tell us .

A lot of listening.

RE: Stop the game lades ,what do you realy want from us guys ?

I feel that my life has meaning again.

RE: Stop the game lades ,what do you realy want from us guys ?

Then again...if I looked that good naked, I'd be wanting to show it off!!

RE: Stop the game lades ,what do you realy want from us guys ?

My suggestion, for what it is worth, would be to change your picture, Charlie. Put a bloody shirt on! You're a good looking guy, but maybe the sight of all that naked flesh is a bit much to be showing with your first message.

RE: I'm bored !! So Why Do You think????????

Anyone old enough to remember the Banana Splits? I loved that. Maybe that's what Gooper and co. do now - dance about on your PC. What a sad end, eh?

RE: Multi-National Musical Fusion

Well, it's always bloody raining here, so that rules out Weather Report.

I saw the Mahavishnu Orchestra a few times in Glasgow....eh, quite a few years ago. Outstanding, apart from all the religious tosh that they went in for. Is John McLaughlan still on the go? Absolutely amazing guitarist, and I think I saw him with Carlos Santana once - what a combination.

RE: proud to be brithish

Cheers...or slainte!

Unfortunately we are not all as "Scottish" as we should be. There are many up here who have been born in Scotland who see themselves as Irish or British, rather than Scots. That said, I do feel that immigrants here do try to integrate themselves fairly well.

As for the clan thing, that just isn't a problem at all.

RE: proud to be brithish

I think most people would agree that political correctness has gone too far. It's as if those in power feel that they have to be seen to be bending over backwards to counteract the actions and views of the intolerant and bigoted minority in the population.

We've got a fairly mixed population up here and I haven't heard of any of the minorities themselves trying to change traditional customs. Maybe we don't have quite so many problems as in England because we've got lots of Protestants and Catholics obsessed with hating each other up here. They keep their focus on hating the other side of the religious divide.
