RE: is british ladies more intelligent????

After almost 400 years, Americans have their own English language. It's different than the British brand of English. If you're talking about proper grammar, you're right, at least concerning this generation of young people that have "graduated" high school. Many have trouble reading and writing. Wonderful educational system that allows that.

RE: Free at last.

I would hope after 10 years(assuming that's when you were divorced)you wouldn't have that backlash or feelings coming to the surface. I'm 3 years in and still grieve over the loss of a 35 year marriage

RE: Please help me understand what I did wrong !

Question. If you didn't want to date someone who smoked, why did you try to start a relationship with this guy. Him saying that he was "trying" to quit meant nothing at all. You shouldn't have compromised.
P.S. I smoke and know what "trying" to quit means.

I'm not trying to blame you for all that happened. Just trying to answer the question,
"Please help me understand what I did wrong!"

RE: Is anyone

I used to cry daily three years ago after my divorce from a 35 year marriage. Not so much anymore, although there are still times like during the Christmas season.
For the last three Christmas's, I've tried to treat is as just another day, but it's difficult at best.
Even though I have two married daughters, nine grandchildren and a 12 year old son, I'm without a "soul-mate", and that means to me personally, that Christmas is for unbroken families. I have no money for presents and that does play into it as well. It's most definitely the worst time of year for me. Every memory I have from the last 35 years is tied to my ex-wife, and is tainted now with grief.
Last word:
How do you forget the past(ex-wife)when the past(ex-wife)is what made you?

RE: Soul Mates

If you're being serious, I can say that I had my soulmate for 34 of 35 years. She followed my dreams and ambitions. She stood by my side through the difficult times, and when she left I was ripped apart.

RE: WHAT WILL YOU SAY WHEN YOU MEET GOD ??

Thanks so much Father God. For not answering one prayer that I prayed unselfishly for my congregation when I was a pastor. I'm supposed to be faithful but you don't have to.
Send me to hell.

RE: Who is best nation in the world ?

I'm an American, but I hardly think that America is the best nation in the world. That's just propaganda that's been inculcated into us since the beginning. Far too much nanny government and it's getting much worse. I look for a country that has true "freedom" and I haven't found one yet.

RE: Funny thread

You're absolutely beautiful, not that I'm coming on to you, cuz I'm way too old for you and not looking for a relationship anyway. Of course that doesn't make me blind and dumb.heart beating

RE: Forgive & forget?

There are people that never forget which means they never forgive. You can't have one without the other. If you think you can, then you're just deceiving yourself. Forgiveness is supposed to wipe the slate clean, and not holding the "trespass" against the perpetrator, so please don't deceive yourself.
You can remember the hurt and even what said person did, but the difference is that you remember it without the anger and bitterness that it can cause. If you can't do that, then you never truly forgave. If you say you forgive someone's actions that hurt you, and then throw it back in their face at a later date, that's not forgiveness. Better to not even say it.
I'm not saying that there are things that you just can't forget without the negative emotions. I'm saying better to not say you forgive when you really haven't.
We should all know that anger, bitterness, hatred, etc, causes stress and damage to our mind, emotions and physical body, while it has little to no effect on the one that "hurt", etc, us. Am I able to "forgive and forget?". Yes, in some cases, but not all. It would be healthier for me to do so, but just like some of you, I'm not perfect.

This post is only valid in a "perfect world".

RE: sadness

Not everyone is "happy" with settling for a good relationship with yourself. I've been divorced for a year and a half from a 35 year marriage and I'm really not interested in finding a new relationship. Even though my ex-wife said some horrible things about me and to other people, I still love her for the person she was for the first 34 years.(she developed a relationship with another man before the divorce) I lost my wife, my life and my leg, all in the matter of 4 months.
I live in a small town where there's not much in the way of social connections except in bars and I'm not interested in those. So, what's to be content with? As far as I'm concerned, I have no hope for anything in the future because of my age and disability. Life really does suck for me. I'd love to go to sleep one night and just not wake up. That would be the most merciful thing that could happen to me. If you want to call this whining, then go right ahead, but you don't know me, and you have no right to try to put your mindset on me.(speaking to no one specifically)

RE: IF YOU COULD BE ANYBODY ELSE IN THE WORLD APART FROM YOURSELF WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO BE ? AND WHY ?

That's what I said.doh

RE: IF YOU COULD BE ANYBODY ELSE IN THE WORLD APART FROM YOURSELF WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO BE ? AND WHY ?

I would be my ex-wife who would divorce my present husband and fall back in love with my first husband, but if I was her first husband, how could I be her and be me?dunno

RE: First days of your broken heart

Yeah, it's been a year and a half since my wife divorced me after 35 years. I'm not too sure that I'll ever recover. Too long of a time and I'm too old to care. I'm only here for the forums and not interested in finding someone new. I'm really not datable material anyway.

RE: Disaster

So much for the "theory" that people can be attracted to the personality over their looks. That's what I hear from mainly women on different forums.(many are overweight which makes them unattractive to some men) There generally has to be a physical attraction to initiate contact. At least that's my opinion/a**hole.dunno

RE: Why do we shout in anger ?

Cuz I was raised in a traditional Italian home. In the blood. Really. Married for 35 years and no matter how hard I planned on not raising my voice in an argument, when the heat was on, I reverted back. Sad really.blues

RE: Describe yourself...

Uninteresting, old, onelegged.

RE: REPUBLICAN RULE NO MORE

There's been no time in our nations history where our Constitution and way of life(freedom) have been compromised and demolished more then in the Bush years. Policies were implemented by Bush and his cronies to place restrictions on Americans, nullify areas of our Constitution and alienate our allies all over the world. Plus Bush went to Iraq instead of going to Syria, who was much more of a supporter of terrorism then Hussein.(there were no weapons of mass destruction, just an excuse by Bush and Cheney) Too bad they didn't have the sense to finish the job in Afghanistan, but Bush was determined to defend his "daddy" whom Hussein threatened. Obama hasn't even come close to that, as yet.

You really need to stop listening to Rush and become informed by an unbiased non-political source.

I'm am/was a loyal conservative but Bush & Co changed all that.confused

RE: whats worse?

I've been laid off a couple of times and divorced once. Losing your spouse is much worse then losing a job. I'd like to try to say something witty but I'm still in the recovery stage. It sucks.

RE: Iraq Held Elections

In my opinion, there will never be peace in Iraq. Their infighting has gone on for decades and even centuries. Many of them are a peace hating people.
As far as I'm concerned we wasted our time and our troops going to Iraq. If we were going to take out other countries because of their support for terrorism,(which was supposed to be our agenda)Syria should have been the target after we finished the job in Afghanistan, which we didn't and still haven't.
By the way, I'm more of a conservative then not.

RE: YOUR DREAMS, Tell us about your best dream or one that haunts you over and over

I dream almost every night about my ex-wife. Good dreams(we're together) and bad dreams(arguing) They tend to make my day a living hell and it's hard to break the "mood". It's been a year and a half since our divorce and I wonder if I'll ever be able to heal and recover. I know, a real downer.

RE: WHAT WILL YOU SAY WHEN YOU MEET GOD ??

I won't meet God..........................or the Devil.
Very simple. Hell is nothing more then the grave, which is the total absence of God and all that he created.
That means no life.
Nothing to say, nothing to be worried about. That's my opinion. scold

RE: obedience....get a dog.....

I used to be a pastor and to be honest, the words in that vow mean nothing at all. If the vow did mean anything, there wouldn't be the amount of divorces that there are, not that I care anymore.professor

RE: Why is it illegal to have more then one wife but you can have as many girlfriends and a wife?

Because governments (politicians) think we're all too stupid to know any better so we need to have a nanny to show us the way, thanks to the "church". Of course, according to the Bible, the "church" wasn't there to judge sinners, it was there to judge the works of those that would call themselves Christians.

RE: Do you believe in true love?

Yes, but apparently for only 35 years.

RE: Am I the granny of the site?

If you're the granny, I'm the grandpa.

RE: what is most important for you

Money, of which I have none.dunno

RE: what is your biggest fear?

Having my other leg amputated. That would take away my freedom and put me in an "Assisted Living Center",(nursing home)which I won't do. I'd take the other option.doh

RE: What do you think of car Dealerships and how they do business.

Yes, I've gotten ripped off in my earlier days. However, I now go to a particular dealer in the small town I live in and have purchased lease returns at a fixed price which is always considerably less then the blue book retail price.
I think it's fair to say though, that most dealers, whether used cars or dealerships, rip people off. I think that women are discriminated against the most, but that's just my ignorant guess.

RE: How do you like your toilet paper to come off the roll...

When I was first starting out, I worked for a janitorial company. I was told to always put the toilet paper over the top which would give the "illusion" that people had more in their hand, rather then less under because they couldn't see the end.confused

RE: Question for Men Only-status: divorced after 15+ years

I don't know why I think this would help, but my ex-wife married a man who was previously married for 30 some years. He purportedly loves her but when I went to their home on Christmas, he had pictures of he and his former wife(who died) all over the house. I know that my wife told my daughters that it doesn't bother her, but being married to her for 35 years, I know that it must drive her crazy. Did he have the kind of baggage you were talking about? Oh yeh. Will it have an effect on their marriage. Anyone's guess.
I suppose it depends on the person whether it'll work or not.

Not very helpful, I suppose.
