I must say the nicest thing is to see an old aged couple holding hands walking stooped down the street. Not all old generations were unhappy, my grandparents knew each other three days when he proposed and they were blissful until the end. I think we have too many expectations nowadays and it has become a disaposable society, throw it in the too hard basket when it gets hard going.

We're all terminally ill. Personally no, life is not a certainty for anyone but I would rather not limit the odds. Its a tough road loving someone going through so many changes physically and emotionally and unless the relationship was a long standing one I would not choose to go down that road.

On a whole no, its not really my business but there is a difference between what is appropriate behaviour and what isn't. If the lady in question had become the bicycle for an entire platoon I don't think I would be offering a date. It is not really a question I would ask unless they volunteered the information, preferably not on the first date.

I just joke about it and say straight up, 'is this one of those awkward silent moments?' usually breaks the ice and works well. If you can't think of anything to say just ask them about their family or take on pets.
