Its good old fashioned rally of support for someone in need and two cheers for that. It's what's living in a caring community is all about.
Shame on the company which made noise against the initiative when afterall, if I got it right, the PTA members did quite rightly mention that it was not an official school initiative. It could have simply ignored the letter and threw it with the rest of the junk mail.
As for the school and the community it serves, perhaps if all sat down and sought ways to help they would all be richer in the end, and someone would have found the moral support even more uplifting in going through difficult times.
Stem cell research! Just been in the papers too that some quack will be offering a service where parents would be able to choose the physical features of their child.
Well that is until someone says Oooops!! How did that happen?! And it all goes horribly wrong. Then what?
I think there's a limit to how much man can tamper with nature. Personally I think that spiritually proloning a life superficially in this manner is not unlike someone taking his life before his time is up. Perhaps what is needed is a more light hearted look at life and accepting our true mortal nature, and that eventually we have to cross over when our time is up. Accepting this fact leads to a much happier and peaceful existence.
Quite a number of replies talk about one condition or another, however large or small, and not surprisingly, for unconditional love is rather rare in humans cos of our expectations. Unconditional love in loving unconditionally...Period... no matter what there is always forgiveness and the joy of seeing one's love.
Perhaps the closets we get to experience unconditional love is that recieved from a pet dog who is always overjoyed and eager to see you no matter what.
Definetely tissue. Hanky is most unhygenic after first use. Well this is 2009 so now which of the two, a tissue or hanky, is the more environmentally friendly?
Superstituous, no..... belive in psychic phenomena, yes... So for the mirror that is superstition and you should worry no more than falling off the edge of a flat earth......so forget it and buy another.
What works well is brisk exercise. Doesn't have to be for long, even half an hour would do as long as its brisk, raises your pulse rate and gets you out of breath.
All the puffing and wheezing would sober you up to the damage smoking is doing and gives you the required boost to cut down and eventually stop smoking. Cycling did it for me. And the feel good factor after stopping makes you realise the foolishness of smoking. never flashed up another again......
Hi all, I'm new to this forum, and this thread kind of got me going.
Well as shipmaster I've travelled round the world a bit and came across quite a few good places. But the awe inspiring ones are mostly to do with nature or in places and communities unaffected by the rigours of fast paced modern living.
Nowadays its a tiny Pelagic island hideaway close by which I visit every summer. Great small island community, excellent diving, long drinks, no radio or TV (my choice) where I simply relax and recharge with a good book. And where the senses relax so much that panic often strikes on the day I have to travel back to the real world!
