RE: Is it common - Indian girls dating European guys?

You're not completely wrong but I think if you find her interesting and don’t ask her out then you’d be wrong. You’d be missing out on the opportunity to meet someone that could be very interesting and someone who might help you change your perception of Indian families and their customs; I’m also sure their customs differ demanding on where their roots are in India.

The times are changing and her family like many others may be emancipated and not mind it at all.

Not to mention some Indian families still adhere to old customs even when living in other countries in Europe, America or elsewhere. In 2009 in Canada a young 22 year old Indian (Sikh) woman was killed by her father in law because she was thinking of divorcing her husband which was a fixed and forced marriage and this for another man. The father in law saw this as disrespect for the family and stabbed her to death. It’s known as a cultural honour murder. He was arrested just a few days ago based on new information acquired by the police.

RE: Friend?

In that case how about discussing it with the others and suggesting that you or someone else discuss it with her to get the facts before doing anything about it.

RE: Friend?

You’ve known her for 3 years and now this comes up. If you consider her a close friend why not talk to her about it instead of having everyone discuss it behind her back. Tell her the truth about why you’re asking her the question and if it’s true ask why she did this. She may have good reasons but are they valid, I think she broke the trust but then she maybe someone who lacks self confidence or other and might need help from the rest of the group. That’ll be your call to make.

RE: Hi has anyone else lost their IM? I cant seem to find mine...

Hi, I heard everyone has lost it and CS said we'd be getting it back in a few weeks.

Hi wave and welcome aboard cheers

RE: Hurt Feelings

That was very rude and it just goes to prove you never really know who's in front of that computer. That's why I think all this online stuff, forums included should always be taken with a grain of salt.

RE: Good morning Canada

Hi there,

RE: Who is your favourite male/female singer

I like just about all those you mentioned and I also enjoyed the songs sung by the groups "The Supremes" and "ABBA".
"Stop in the name of love" "Where did our love go" "You can't hurry love" etc.
"The winner takes all" "Take a chance on me" "Dancing Queen" etc.

RE: Being healthy

In my case aiming to be as healthy as possible and maintaining it is good hygiene, eating as well as possible, not abusing alcohol, no smoking and exercising by going for walks or cycling every other day and some gym when I can and it’s available.

RE: Who is More powerful ?

I second that thumbs up professor

RE: That means you are telling a LIE

Yes they certainly exist and they’re not genuine, they’re in hiding, they hide behind a profile that’s how much confidence they have in themselves and though they often think highly of themselves they’re not worth very much.

RE: Over 40 guys dating younger women...

I think you’re being honest and clear as to what your preferences are when it comes to dating women and your preferences are legitimate.
I firmly believe at your age (43) many women between the ages of 25 and 35 would be interested in dating you. You don’t want any more children which is your choice and the women you meet simply have to respect that choice or move on. You’re not forcing anyone to date you and women between the ages of 25 and 35 are smart and mature enough to make decisions based on their own choices.

It’s the same for women, older women or simply women in general who don’t want to have children should be able to date who they want and if the guys they date, no matter what age they are want a family of their own then these guys can make the call as far as dating these women or not or going for a short term rather than long term relationship.

RE: hi, I'm new,

RE: Airport solution

RE: Cell phones

If that was a man I would have said what a dickhead, when it's a woman what should one say dunno laugh

RE: Cell phones

They are often a nuisance when not used correctly and abusively by both men and women.

RE: What makes you feel so blessed?

All the above and for still being around; I’ve seen too many leave too young, two sisters were among them.

RE: "What you talking 'bout, Willis?"

I’d watch Diff’rent Strokes from time to time when younger and he did make me laugh each time I did. I remember reading a few years ago that his father or was it his parents took over a lot of the money he made when a child and he lost out on most of it.

I’m sorry he died so young.

RE: Clean thoroughly....

What happened to the fish dunno

RE: Canada, and being Canadian

I’m with you on that one; Pierre Elliott Trudeau is also my favorite Canadian politician. I had the chance to shake his hand twice. He was brilliant and a devoted politician.

I listed a few things he did while Prime Minister of Canada (April 20-1968-June 03-1979) (March 03-1980-June 30-1984)

Official Languages Act 1969
October Crisis (implementation of War Measures Act) 1970
Appointed Muriel McQueen Fergusson first woman Speaker of the Senate 1972
Page and Price Controls 1975
Leader of the Opposition 1979-1980
Significant role in the victory of the "No" forces in the Quebec Referendum on Sovereignty-Association 1980
Appointed Jeanne Sauvé first woman Speaker of the House of Commons 1980
Canadian Charter of Rights 1982
Constitution Act 1982
Appointed Jeanne Sauvé, Canada's first woman governor general 1984

RE: Canada, and being Canadian

People don’t use the term « distinct society » as much since the two failed accords (Meech Lake Accord & Charlottetown Accord) which took place between 1987/1992 to recognize the province of Quebec as a distinct society.
But in 1995 the Federal government at the time (Liberals under Jean Chretien) did recognize Quebec as a distinct society though this term is not included in the constitution. Nowadays the term “nation” is mostly used and in 2006 the Federal House of Commons voted to recognize Quebecers as a nation within Canada and this mostly because of its laws (civil law-Napoleonic Code instead of common law- British legal system in the rest of Canada), its language, its culture and its religion, mostly Catholic as compared to mostly Protestant in the rest of Canada.

What Quebec has been doing is trying to protect not only the French language but also its people the majority of whom speak and write French so here is some information on the language Bills passed by Quebec’s National Assembly.

First of all as we all know Canada has two official languages; French & English “Official Languages Act” 1969 and amended in 1988 which promotes bilingualism but at the provincial level only New Brunswick is officially bilingual and only Quebec is officially unilingual. In all three of Canada’s Territories French & English are the official languages though in Nunavut Inuktitut is also an official language.

As far as Quebec is concerned before 1974 it had no official language and (Bill 22) “Quebec’s Language Act” was passed and it made French the official language of Quebec, it was then supplanted by (Bill 101) “Charter of the French language” in 1977. Bill 101 was then amended by the “Constitution Act 1982” which defined the educational right of French and English minorities in all provinces under section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms which means an English Canadian coming to Quebec from another province would have the same rights as a French Canadian going to that province as far as educational rights are concerned.

While at it I want to add that many tend to see Quebecers as separatist who want to separate from the rest of Canada but this is false. Quebec has had two referendums (1980 & 1995) during mandates of the Parti Québécois “provincial separatist party” but both times the majority of Quebecers voted (no) to separation.

I'd also like to add that most of this information was googled and I wanted to give a general idea and not go into details.
