I thought this one merited a bump based on the 76 hits. Besides it's Sunday and I missed Church again....let's see:that makes about 1923 Sundies in a row, give or take.... Who can finish this verse?
"There were ninety and nine that safely lay, in the shelter of the fold...."
For the Sassy and the Kitty and the Muddy..... Plenty of warm red wine and a picnic hamper.... And wonder-working out back on the beach... You,Desmond must stay behind and man the bar.... Snicker...chortle...snort...
My first strip -club was a Tent-Show at the County Fair.I was Red in the neck but Oh,oh so green otherwise....About 16.. The Barker gave me a large cigar and a book of matches and sent me down front... Bill Clinton's must've been to the same Carnival. The President of these United States has got nothin' on me...
"On the banks of Cosby's Creek, by the sparkling mountain waters, There the wrinkled, wise old Granny-- --daughter of the ages Granny-- Taught the little Wonderworker "
With all apologies to H.W.Longfellow{the only suitable name for a Dachshund]
Keep your filthy hands off my Granny. On second thought...well it's really up to her.You could be step-gramps and buy me a little blue sportscar for my sixth graduation.
Y'know,I think that's what Granny was about... She made 96.You would of like her.She had seen everything and pulled no punches... And she showed many Wonders....
"The past is not nor never dead.Sometimes it is not even past" William Faulkner
I was Wondering...... From time-to-time I seem to encounter good people dying in the past.Or more accurately, choking on it.This is nothing new. Lately I've been noticing a prevailing philosophical emphasis on the present, the moment or the currently popular condensation:THE NOW. Yet I am reminded that Now has no duration.Right? Am I not correct by definition? Or do we push Now in front of us? Time... What do You think of it?
Thanks Outrageous.I will examine your link tomorrow with a clear head. For now I will listen and learn. There is no greater Epiphany. I have never practiced ANY religion as an adult yet I am often mistaken for a religious or spiritual man.... It has occured to me that I may have "tripped over" a mind-set which enables Peace. In my case vicarious suffering may have factored but "my case is not relevent. Thanks to you and the O.P.for this thread. It represents as effective a presentation as I have heard to date...
Thank you Outrageous.I have barely explored the subject but have often thought I may have been a Buddhist all my life without knowing what to call it...Given that,I still relie on the Empiricle method of inquiry. Does that pose a conflict with the Mystic?
How is the Invocation developed and what is the basis of it's efficacy in Medicine or Psychology? Is it purely Mystic or based on private experience? For present purposes consider me a benign skeptic.
When I was growing up in the Southern Baptist faith the singing was all that made attending church services bearable. I still like it despite the associated horror show. My favorites: ANGEL BAND AN OLD ACCOUNT SETTLED THE NINETY AND NINE I'LL FLY AWAY MUST JESUS BEAR THE CROSS ALONE........
Such was my point....That Melchisadec may have been ancestral to all western religion as it is now.
That concept raises new questions There is a current thread on the origins of religion, mostly focused on how old Religion might be. Is it older than Humanity?
We might also ask if religion pre-dates Humanity--by that I mean Homo Sapiens. Did Homo Erectus practice Religion? As I recall He made tools,or at least used them. Could he talk? Exactly what sort of artifacts are demonstative of Religion? Is a Wasp's nest a temple? What are the implications of howling at the moon?I do it all the time but for my own reasons and I know I didn't invent the practice.
The scale is not 70--100.It is 0--00.That is important I think. The "experiencable"incarnations are much like the imaginable incarnations which take place over the same scale in your head. Just a thought.
I respecfully disagree BigJohn. Bashing is more often hostility than banter. Noone will bash my Sweetheart without answering for it.....Myself most of all. Think about it.That did not sound like you.
Thanks Sassy. Trout Fishers know how to cut grass and change oil....we just don't have much interest in it.... Not when The Muse beckons. Did you know Rivers can talk?
