Your friend has behaved with really bad manners, it's up to you whether you let her off for it or not, I can't advise one way or another but she let you down. You say that if you confronted her she would just laugh it off, well she's no right to, are you worried that it could happen again, maybe in some other bar where you're not known? I'd make it clear to her that it's not acceptable, anyway. Awkward situation alright, and not of your making. Maybe have a quiet word with the owner/manager, I'm sure he'll understand the situation and the difficult situation you were in.
The biggest turn off for me would be if she brought her sister or pal with her, for security like...... I would excuse myself to go to the toilet and climb out the window and leg it.
Am reading that at the moment as well, great reserch, keep at it, it gets easier as you go on as it deals with more up to date stuff, people and events that are more well known.
