Ah yes, so much easier to denigrate the person than to argue the point. The irony of this post, which of course is lost on the poster, is that it reeks of prejudice, prejudice against those living in 'the back of beyond' or those without children.
You couldn't make it up! thanks for the unintended laugh.
If they break the law yes, and we'll need more prisons as there isn't enough room in the ones we already have. It's not right that people should walk free because there isn't enough space for them.
All you've done is put forward piety after piety, you've condemned my views but haven't actually said why you disagree with them. So much easier to play the man and not the ball isn't it?
That might not be a bad idea, maybe worth considering. As regards prison I'd stop all visits so that the drugs couldn't get in. Only recently have they put a net over Mountjoy yard to stop drugs being thrown in, so the approach to drugs there must have been extremely amature.
But cigarette withdrawal won't make someone rob an old lady of her handbag, the hold is not that strong, but with heroin they will do anything to get the money.
No problem, your a nice guy and your reaction to the junkie reflects well on you but don't forget that for every junkie there's one or more - probably several - victims of their robbery and burglary, you don't notice them as they're not visible but they are there.
The reason we have this problem is because of lack of judgement in the first place. Judgement is now a dirty word, all sorts of behaviour and life-choices are accepted because people are afraid to judge. We must get back to the notion of individual responsibility. By excusing the junkies you're adding to the problem, you're saying that their lifestyle is acceptable. Bad behaviour needs punishment to stop it.
