I worked out in the yard all day. This evening I was burning and I fell and hurt my arm. I now have a big "ALWEE" on my arm. It was a beautiful day, though.
I try not to be bitter, because that gives him control and being bitter does nothing good for me. But, for some reason, the sight and sound of him totally repulses me. It's nothing I can control.
If I see him again and actually do throw up, I'll be sure to aim well.
I know what you are saying. With your line of work you probably have become desensitized to handle the situation at that time. It doesn't mean that you don't care or have feelings. It is just what it takes to get the job done. If you didn't respond that way you would probably be breaking down and crying all the time.
I personally did not get to watch the coverage. I heard about the accident on the radio.
Can anyone say what kind of comments that he made? Snowbunnie, what made you feel that his comments were not heartfelt? I just wanted to know, because I didn't get to see the coverage.
I will say this, when someone is as busy as the president is, they probably do not feel or absorb the intensity of the situation until they have had some time to get off to themselves and think. Maybe he had a lot going on and was just responding to the situation at the time. I don't know....just a suggestion.
I'm not a big Obama fan, but I know how I can be sometimes. I can get some really bad news and it doesn't sink in until later when I've gotten off to myself and really thought about it.
We don't do that in our area. We just get together with family and eat, then hide eggs for the kids. Trick-or-treating isn't as common anymore, either.
I like all kinds of animals, but dogs are my favorite. I love my pets. They have such personalities and are great company. When I'm outside working they run and play around me. I think they think they are human.
I used to work in a restaurant when I was in my teens. On Friday and Saturday nights of a Nascar race weekend, the owner would close off the back room and all the race officials, race car drivers....everybody crowded in that back room and ate and drank to all hours of the night.
I was able to meet Darrell Waltrip and several other drivers.
I also used to live about three houses down from Jimmy Hensley.
Overall I had a good day, but I got some disturbing news this evening. A friend of mine's horse died. It had given birth to a filly a few days ago and died from an infection today.
I feel so sad for the mare. She was a very good horse and really too old to be having a baby. The person was going to get rid of her after the filly was old enough to wean from her. I had asked for her and had planned to have her finish out her days feeling loved and appreciated. I'm just really sad about things turning out the way they did.
There is actually a movie called "Jeremiah Johnson". If I recall correctly, he was a hunter that hunt bear in the wilderness. I wonder if there is a connection?
I remember not too long ago when, I believe, it was a woman that come on here smearing a man's name. As we all found out later, there is always two sides to the story. Her accusations were unfounded and she was just mad at the guy and taking it out on him in the forum.
Now, imagine if that happened to you. I think that I can safely say that nobody would appreciate their name being smeared in the forums, legit or not.
The mods have a procedure for dealing with scammers. The procedure should be followed. It's there for a reason.
I've heard many good arguments for and against gun control. All that I can tell or share with you is what I observe in my area.
Guns are not used so much as protection against people as they are for wildlife. I live in a rural area with lots of farms. There are a lot of hunters in this area. You have to keep in mind that a major source of food for these people are the wildlife in which they hunt.
People here are passionate about their guns because guns are their source of food. They hunt during hunting season and stock pile their freezers. This food is what they eat on for the rest of the year. During a time when so many people are unemployed and money is extremely tight, the wildlife and their gardens are how they survive.
Also, the farmers use guns to keep the wildlife, such as coyotes, away from their livestock. Can you picture a farmer out in the middle of the night trying to mace a coyote so it won't kill his calf?
Also, as far as hunting is concerned, we have to keep our deer population under control here. If people do not hunt and keep the population under control, you are sure to hit one everyday with your car (I hit 4 on the way to work one morning). Some people may say, "Let game conservation keep them under control." Not happening....budgets cuts are taking away all the extra help. Our game conservation officers do not have time to go out and kill a bunch of deer.
As for me, I feel much better with a pistol on my side while I'm out hiking. I hike in some remote areas, usually by myself, because I have no one else to go with me. At any time, I can encounter a pack of wild dogs (which are extremely common for this area) mountain lions, bear, what have you....I feel so much safer having that pistol on my side. It gives me a chance if I do encounter a bad situation.
So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that guns are a way of survival for all of us around here. Not so much for protection against other people, but our environment.
If someone broke into my home I'm not going to have time to retrieve my gun. I'd have a better chance of retrieving the mace from the top of the frig.
Go into the nearest city from here and you encounter a totally different situation regarding guns.
I have come to accept the fact that the person I fell in love with no longer exists. His body is still there, but the personality and lovable person I fell in love with disappeared.
I believe that he still loves me, but I know I have changed as well. Let's just say that we treat each other with reasonable respect since we share a child together.
RE: How was your day?
Oh....How Sweet! Chuckie might get jealous though.
