RE: People we can depend on.........

Tchin tchin to you Trish wine

RE: Athiests and christmas

I certainly would not look down on you, you have a great and strong personality and that's what people should look at. Don't bother about the others.
I must admit one of my best friends hates Xmas cards. I (almost) never send one to her. But if I do, by mistake, I certainly won't be frustaded if she doesn't answer laugh

RE: Athiests and christmas

I think most of us on this CS thread are alone today. So don't feel lonely, we are are all there! You've got a new friend in Cyprus too. hug

RE: Athiests and christmas

You certainly are not a bad person and I fully respect your point of view. Now for me, giving presents and wishes is a happiness. Why should I give up this pleasure?
cheers

RE: Athiests and christmas

You are right, it is not a necessity but for me, to give a present is a great pleasure. To receive one too.
I promised I would never sing a song. I have too much respect for music!
I also donate to different associations, but this has nothing to do with my family-friends non-religious Christmas eve.

RE: Athiests and christmas

RE: Athiests and christmas

Don't know why so many of you think a gift must be expensive.
To prove I care about family and friends, I try to find something I'm sure they will like or need. Sometimes, it takes a long time to find what is appropriate, sometimes when I see something that will be appreciated, I buy it even if it's during summer months. It always is a cheap little thing, but given with a lot of love. This year, being with more than 20 persons I never met before, I took the time to find 20 little gifts worth between 1 and 3 €. Things you can always use: a funny pencil, a rubber, a magnet, ... Seemed evebody had fun opening the gift-rapped parcel and enjoied the intention.

RE: Athiests and christmas

Thanks Odessa, you saved my soul laugh cheering

RE: Athiests and christmas

In many countries, Christmas became a family feast with no religious connection. I don't feel forced to celebrate Christmas, it is just folklore and I like to participate in any local customs.
Being a new resident here, I was very happy to be invited to a family dinner. I discovered a Orthodox Christmas, which was new for me. Discovered traditional food, music and made new friends. That was great.
It doesn't prevent me for having more dinners, drinks and fun many other days of the year. And it doesn't prevent me either to attend WW2 Veterans day celebrations in my country, being invited in remembrance of my father.
I'm an Atheist but I respect all other believes or religions, as long as my opinions are respected too.

RE: Is it appropriate

Talk to one of her collegues first and ask if the lady is single, if she's not the Doctor's GF. Tell her you are attracted by her collegue and ash her how she thinks you should act. Ask if she's on duty the next day. Forget your hat in the Dr office, then go back next day to get it.
laugh

RE: what is time?

Have you been stood up?

RE: Why Why Why ?????

Ali, you called women, "jealous, old monkeys, old witches, burn asses, heartless cruel women, ..."
Of course they don't like you.
You are really pathetic.

RE: Smokers!

Then they also should tax overweighted people to compensate their health problems. As well as diabetics. Or anorexy.

RE: Smokers!

I do agree with you that smoking isn't good for my health. So is breathing cars and factories rejections. I tried to stop some 15 years ago and ended in a hospital with a severe nervous breakdawn that last a whole year. I did lose my job.
As I said in a previous post, not smoking didn't avoid my parents and friend to dye very young from cancer. What could I buy with the money I save? All the good tasty things are bad for health! Chocolate? bad for my cholesterol! Alcohol? Marijuana? laugh laugh Just joking!

RE: Smokers!

In our freezing cold, snowy countries, if one smokes in the garden, he'll catch a cold, or flu, or lung deseases. And then they will blame the cigarette! laugh

RE: Smokers!

Evething bad for health is now put on the smokers shoulders. Why don't they ban cars and trucks and busses? Their polution is much worse than a cigarette. Same for industrial factories.
And if cigarettes are such a danger for people health, why is it still allowed to sell them? Why do governments impose taxes on them and make a very big profit?

RE: Smokers!

I forgot to say I'm still a chain-smoker and am not willing to quit. It's one of my pleasures in life.
Also have to add my mother got throat cancer at the age of 40. She never smoked in her life. My father died at the age of 44. He didn't smoke. My best friend died from lung cancer at 52. She didn't smoke.
Well, .... I'm proud that I reach the age of 64 in good health.
banana

RE: Smokers!

Well, when I started smoking, it wasn't bad for the health and it didn't bother anybody.
For to-days young people, I would say they start smoking because they are pissed off by all the politically correct advices, announcements, threats, councils, medical informations, bad looks, that invades them. Too much is too much. And teens always liked to upset their parents and teachers.
To ban smoking in every public place is the best way to give them the desire to smoke.
Like alcohol had a huge success during prohibition.

wink

RE: Why Why Why ?????

I would say YOU have problems. blah blah

RE: Why Why Why ?????

RE: Why Why Why ?????

Oh, you are really a kind man!
rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Why Why Why ?????

Do you really believe this will make women like you???violin thumbs down

RE: Why Why Why ?????

Ali, stop this stupid game. You just try to copy Robert and you hope to have as many friends as he has. Unfortunately, you are wrong.

If some girls don't like you, may be it's because you are mean to them, don't respect them. You are not a kind heart man. You like to create confusion and divid people.

Another reason why some people don't like is that you are boring.
Here are some quotes from Ali:

God doesnt brainwash,God loves us more than our parents ,blievers's Mind are open and bright,I am trying help my athiest friends to come to the right way as they can be out from darkness

there is no God but Allah(God)Only

These are ur Qualities and the reliogion says to do that also ,The only thing u need is to blieve in God and u will be perfect and God likes it

Our Journey will over oneday and than we will have need of our Lord's mercy.the angels will ask us about our Lord, our prophet and our chracter ,what we will answer them, this is the matter of after life and now in this world.
I think u have listen this idiom" AS YOU SOW SO SHALL YOU REAP"
this is showing us the judgment of God ,if we hurt someone We must be hurted someday.who is doing that? Definatly God,He has the power to do that,

But these are not the words of God But Quran and Bible are God's book, there is no capacity of doubt in Quran and Bible

Yes,There is only One God ,The Only creator of Universe,Quran tells us and there is trustful evidence in the world than Quran ,
I know u will ask Evidence,i know u will ask a scientific evidence,so answer in advance.

Just read the quran and u will find all science in it,Quran is God's Book it is 1500 years old and telling us about the latest/modern inventions, who can do that ? the answer is there is no one but god

RE: Santa and......

Santa promotes obesity, speeding and drink-driving.

Santa should slim down by ditching the cookies, mince pies and milk, and instead snacking on his reindeers' carrots and celery sticks. Santa also should trade in the sleigh for a bike or throw his sack over his shoulder and hit the global road on foot.

And the brandy should definitely be banished, because of its pound-piling potential.

It could also put Santa at risk of drink-driving, given that he visits billions of houses and takes a tipple at each.

His reckless behaviour could also encourage extreme sports such as roof surfing and chimney jumping - not to mention speeding.
At the very least he should buckle up or don a helmet.

Santa also has the potential to spread infectious diseases.
If he sneezes or coughs around 10 times a day, all the children who sit on his lap may end up with swine flu.

RE: On the 1st Date, who should pay?

rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing laugh laugh laugh

In all close countries, Dutch people are known to be miser. They for sure won't pay even half the bill.
It is known that a Dutch family of 4 will order only 1 menu: one plate for each.
On holidays abroad, they bring their own food and eat it in the car on a parking lot. In a hotel, I've seen people bringing their own eggs to be prepared for the next breakfast!

I think English should find another name for sharing the expense!
