RE: Gun Control in the USA?

Well, I can tell you this. once I was mistaken for somebody and beaten half to death by a group of people, got skull fractures and an orbital blowout. Another time I was coming home late from a shutdown and saw a vehicle pulled oer and a commotion, it was a deserted stretch of road at about 3am. So when I pulled u turn and came back around. Saw a guy beating this woman and heard crying in the woods. He started walking towards me and right about then I stepped out of my vehicle. Before I could level my handgun at him he tuned and ran. The cryinlg was the toddler he kicked into the woods. The woman was black and blue and bloody, but ok. I waite for her family to pick her up for an hour and was real glad I had that gun should he turn around and come back our way.

So twice in my life I have needed a gun and have been on both sides as victim or person with gun. If nothing ever happens again in my life it will still be worth it to keep 26oz of metal in my pants.

Crime only exists because we have created a culture of cowardice and outsourced our personal safety to corrupt and inefficient government agents. Personally I think we should fine any unarmed crime victim the cost of the investigation, their neglect endangers not only themselves but their fellow citizens.

RE: Do you like Glen Beck?

Waaaa. Im sure it pales in comparison to a childhood in the eastern block in those days. Cry me a friggin riverbarf

RE: I read "20 minutes with the President" by Charlie Sheen ,Do you think 9/11 was an inside job

The months of preparation are to reduce dust and debris and collateral damage. Placing a few cutting charges on some main beams to help an already weakened building come down could easily be done by a night janitor(s) or maintenence man/men in a few evenings.

RE: I read "20 minutes with the President" by Charlie Sheen ,Do you think 9/11 was an inside job

Quoting the governments investigation of itself proves nothing. If those who believe it was a surprise and bush knew nothing would answer the charges against the official theory in a methodical and thorough manner it would be helpful. The popular mechanics examination for example ignores a few of the major claims.

RE: who likes obama ?

How is it you did 22yrs in the army, woked for kbr in a warzone I think you said...but are so scared of a little race war. Youre white, you really think that black dudes with poorly maintained jennings .25's are going to overtake a skilled operator such as yourself? You could empty the jacksonville ghetto in front of my place and they wouldnt clear the fence..and I aint exactly ft knox. You bring this up alot, I cant get why you are so scared of it to move to a country where the phones are bugged and russia might roll tanks in or cut off your oil at any moment.

RE: Where we created by Religion or Evolution

No way, he had 12 armed dudes he rode around with stirring up rebellion against the government. They caried swords, remember I think it was peter..started takng hacks at the pharasees when the apprehended jesus?....well the main military weapon of the day was the sword. Jesus today would be most like a militia, 13 guys with assault rifles traveling around in secret stirring up a revolution of freedom against overly rigid laws and corupt governments. He even attacked the bankers! Remember, he bullwhipped the money changers and toppled their tables? He was way more militia dude than some hippy.

On a side note, whether all matter was compressed into a pinhead and exploded, nothing exploded into everyhing, or God exists and the big bang was "let there be light", can we all agree they are all equally implausible if we apply any amount of logic to them? Thats my onl axe to grind is that some try and make it as if only the religious folks believe in some fantastic theory that cant be proven.

RE: Are you bothered by extra religious people?

They dont bother me, I used to invite the mormons inside and debate biblical stuff while drinking beer. As long as they can tolerate me I can tolerate them. The less popular the religion is the cooler they are in my experience.

RE: I read "20 minutes with the President" by Charlie Sheen ,Do you think 9/11 was an inside job

You touch on the main reason I do not summarily dismiss the 911 conspiracies. Unfortunately all the evidence is from the group accused of perpetrating the crime. Popular Mechanics did not get to investigate a secure crime scene personally. If I was trying a mobster and all the evidence came from a discovery I filed to the defense I would not likely have any smoking guns. For this reason I am sure well never really know, but given the lusitania lies, forewarning of pearl harbor, likely staging of the gulf of tinkinincident, its more likely the government was somehow involved than not.

It works both ways though. I gave king george the same benefit of the doubt on this one as well. We rattled sabers and built up for 14 months. If some guy was growing weed and the sheriff was in the paper every day for 14mo before he executed the warant, what are the odds youd find even a seed or lightbulb in the place? Especially if the place was a giant friggin desert.

RE: who likes obama ?

I think you answered your own question.

Percentage of open minds..

Thanks. Forunately or unfortunately...depending on who..lol..I have to go back to work after my knee surgery, but you guys sure helped me pass some time while immobilebeer

RE: who likes obama ?

Whoops.

The people voted out lying liberals, just so happened a bunch were republican.

RE: who likes obama ?

Percentage of open minds..

I think that open mindedness does not mean you would consider anything. For example I am rather closed minded to arguments that water is not wet, or that any form of marxism can improve a society.

I hold many of my opinions strongly, but my method was very open minded. I read bastiat and marx, mein kampf and atlas shrugged, the full range of philosophy on a given subject.

My approach to politics is to learn the underlying ideology first. Then I look at the different manifestations of it to compare the theory to how it is practiced.

That is why I may appear closed minded about say, socialism, but it is a conclusion reached after many years of study and contemplation.

I have yet to meet an obama supporter that knows who bastiat is or can even articulate the fundamentals of the austrian school of economics, yet they will rabidly defend the man. To be fair the same is true of ardent bush supporters as well, they were too ignorant to see that bush was no conservative, an the founders would have challenged him to a duel had he been around back then.

RE: Do you see any of these types as un-American?

What horrors do you refer to? Please elaborate.

RE: who likes obama ?

Who likes obama?

The ignorant and/or gullible.

RE: The Liberals Have Won.... Your First Amandment is Lost

McCarthy has been totally indicated by history first of all.

This is a bold step and I wish it was the fist one. I think he will follow in his predecessors footsteps and aid or cause a catastrophic event and declare martial law prior to he election so he can remain in power. I think if hes bold enough to eliminate one of the bill of rights in his first year he is bold enough to come out of the dictator closet.

RE: I read "20 minutes with the President" by Charlie Sheen ,Do you think 9/11 was an inside job

Actually both events were remarkably similar. In both cases the US had a goal of entering a war but needed a catalyst to overcome public opinion. FDR during his campaign peomised not to send us into a foreign war. In addition there was a warning called in to washington a day or two before that was forwarded to Hawaii. That message was ignored and they attempted to cover it up. This is a time honored tactic, it was also used during ww-1. I recently saw a special on history where they dove to the wreckage. Sure enough the lusitania's cargo hold was full of artillery shells and other weapon material. In addition the germans placed ads in english in the NY papers warning people not to sail into that zone as civilian ships were crying war material and subject to sinking.

In the case of 911, at the very least we allowed it to happen to capitalize on it for our geopolitical goals, and especially the collapse of building 7 suggests there may have been charges set to facilitate the collapse. I tend to believe the firefighters who were in the basement and witnessed these explosions over the bush administration.

Below is a link to an article about the foia request that finally uncovered the truth about pearl harbor.

RE: Ahmadinejad says Holocaust was a “lie”

Alright ladies lets trash each others belief system, not each other.professor

I agree in a few grey areas, but I believe that moral relativism is a cultural disease. Often things are portrayed as grey that are quite black and white. In fact I find there are ultimately very few grey areas in matters of any real importance. Our culture has a moral code that goes along with it that should ring as true regardless of religion.

RE: Suspected flag burner pilloried

Well arson IS felony and he did not deny it, he was offered his choice for a trial. Think what you want but local justice is a tradition here and looking at the south vs say, california or the northeast, I think southern folks have a much better handle on crime.

Percentage of open minds..

The problem is when peoples own thoughts contradict. Somebody is right and it may take an article from somewhere to explain that.

I believe statistics can be twisted, in fact I have pointed out some examples here recently. However they are a valid part of a debate. For example cost estimates of government programs. Info from crime reports, or whatever. In an age where many common beliefs in society are based on nonsense, it is important to counter the propaganda. Sometimes that means a dull article, I mean, whats fun about taxes or economics?

RE: Suspected flag burner pilloried

Grabbing him is legal as citizens can make arrests and what he did was a crime. He was offered the choice of being turned over to the police for a trial, so I dont see where his rights were violated. He chose public humiliation to having a criminal charge on his record. Sounds like a smart fellow. I dont have a problem with this at all.

RE: Barack "Fidel" Obama!

We know we are not free, why do you criticize us for rising up against our dictator?

I still would rather have to argue my opinions peacefully with my neighbors than live in a place where everything is bugged and you have to pretend you are in another country to post here and even then have to be careful.

Percentage of open minds..

So Ive been stuck at home due to knee surgery for a little while and arguing politics on this and a couple other message boards. It seems alot of people just shrug off any fact you post that contradicts their opinion. I have been thinking it must be that alot of people are closed minded and probably dont realize it.

I wonder what your best guesses are on the percentage of people who actually may reconsider a position, even long held.

Like when someone is saying not to legalize pot because it will be carnage on the highway. Nevermind everybody is already smoking it and then you post the NHTSA studies that show it doesnt affect reaction times like alcohol or cause the reckless driving, etc. Do they actually go..."hmmm, maybe I had this all wrong..." I get the impression most people ignore it and continue in their rut, regardless of how bogus it is.

I dont know, just wondered if any of you had pondered this at all. Its got big implications as far as politics goes.

RE: Do you like Glen Beck?

I dont know what is funny 6 or 9 dollars a litre. Laugh away. Well continue to drive to the mountains or grand canyon or wherever we want for cheap in our big vehicles with all out equipment on board and our guns under the seat.

RE: Where we created by Religion or Evolution

Man I cant wait until jesus comes back down here and kicks all your asses.

RE: Where we created by Religion or Evolution

Essentially that is exactly what the theory says. It lends itself to debate such as this:

Q)
If the Big Bang exploded matter out Was the dark container of space always there to receive the matter or was the vacuum of dark empty space created as the matter expanded into it?

A)
That's a very good question, and the truthful answer is "Nobody knows for sure".

Many have said, however, that the universe was very likely created as the energy and mass expanded. So the "dark, empty void" that is the fabric of space was actually created as the energy from the Big Bang moved outwards. Beyond the edges of the universe is... well, nothing. Perhaps another universe, although several have proposed the "no edges" idea. That is, much like a video game, if you pass through the "edge" of the universe on one side, you wind up on the other side. In other words, if you keep moving in a straight line across the universe, you will eventually get back to your own starting position, but you would never know that you had deviated from your path (because, in fact, you didn't). Think Pac-Man.

That's the best theory we can present at the current time.

One on the best books elaborating on the Big Bang Theory in an understandable format is Bill Bryson's "A Short History Of Nearly Everything". It explains that space was never there, but actually was created as the singularity that contained all the matter in the universe exploded and expanded. This singularity was so small that it had LITERALLY no dimensions, and took up absolutely no space, yet contained untold billions of tons of material all compacted together. As this singularity expanded, it expanded at just the right speed as to create all the forces in the universe, like gravity, inertia, and all those. If it expanded faster, the universe would have collapsed in on itself long ago, and the creation material would have been so far spread that nothing would have been made. Had it expanded slower, then everything would still be too compacted and close together, so that nothing would've been created. There is also a theory that, at some point, the universe will not be able to expand any further, and the theory also includes that the universe is still expanding. But at any rate, the theory goes that the universe will reach a point where it cannot expand any farther, and then it will slowly creep back into a singularity. And the process will start over again. This, however, cannot be proven, and is only one of several theories.

As I said, neither idea is more ridiculous than the other, now go back and read my post.

RE: Ahmadinejad says Holocaust was a “lie”

This is one of my pet peeves, even representatives and senators talk of "our democracy". Democracy is a vile form of government that always devolves into tyranny of the majority.
Think of it like this:

In a democracy, two wolves and a sheep take a majority vote on what’s for supper, while in a constitutional republic, the wolves are forbidden on voting on what’s for supper and the sheep are well armed.

Thomas Jefferson:

"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine."

Good article on the subject here:

RE: Do you like Glen Beck?

Rush criticizes repubs about 1/10th the time of beck, and about 10times what people give him credit for.

So what makes beck an a**hole? Rush is an a**hole for being against medical marijuana while illegally obtaining hillbilly heroin.
