How do you view American people in general? Do they have to support America's economic system...capitalism for the most part? And should they respect or at LEAST ignore different races (lifestyles, etc.)if they don't like them... to give them a right to their peace of mind and so they can do what they like without being bothered?handshake

People are people, no real difference.

But cultures have a life and habits of their own.

And the US culture is exceptionally arrogant and self-righteous, leading to all sorts of horrors.

That could also be us Brits in a very slightly different light (We STILL think we have an empire). The iranians today, or the Fijiians in 300 yrs time. It's called being human - not 'American'

Sure - In MANY ways - The USA 'decended' from us (and others - sure) - were controlled by us and have and amended form of our 'belief' structure.

We have had centuries longer than they, to lose our arrogance and, as the foremost power in the world not THAT long ago, influenced wither by education or the edge of a sword, many 'savage' races. We habven't lost that arrogance, our voice has simply become quieter.

We were rich, influential and whilst disliked, could NOT be ignored by our contempories.

USA is a 'baby' still, yet has grown very quickly. TOO quickly, some would say. As a nation it is still learning.

Of course I would compare us! Within this world, each country thinks it is right. Within each country cities are in competition Even in one street you will have factions.

Wer are genetically tribal - just nowadays we call the tribes USA,UK, PAPUA NEW GUINIA or IRAN.

Yes,we're both aware of England's colonial history and the fact that England essentially spawned the U.S.,albeit the difficult birth of an ultimately disobedient(and perhaps more) child.laugh

Being Canadian,I'm from the Commonwealth, and it was the Union Jack that hung on the wall of my school as a child, along with a picture of the H.M.the Queen. But that was the past, wasn't it.As we too become independant by a different road.

The sun HAS set on the British empire and has dawned elsewhere, but the world has also, and, has all so,changed. Are we responsible for that change?Collectively, yes and if we allow ourselves to be dominated by the new powers, then our future is uncertain.
