I think it is a good thing that the US is now allied with Iraq, and we can keep a few armored divisions right across the border from these guys to give them something to ponder.
I think I know now why Iran's corrupt government is Hell bent on developing a nuclear weapon.
“The very existence of the Zionist regime is an insult to the dignity of humanity,” said Ahmadinejad."The life of this regime has come to an end,” Ahmadinejad said, adding: “We will certainly be witness to the destruction of this regime.”
"the Holocaust was a “myth” and calling for Israel to be “wiped off the map”."
A lesson Iran has yet to learn can be summed up in 1 simple sentence. "Never bring a knife to a gunfight."
A knife? you must be thinking that the Asyrian empire is still at office over there.
Ahmadinejad spouts the same populist BS that Bush did. Can't take it serious, but on the world stage, it certainly gives Israel a lot of political ammo and that's not exactly good either.
Antjo39: A knife? you must be thinking that the Asyrian empire is still at office over there.
I think you missed the point of that old saying in this context.
It means Iran would be totally outgunned if they ever tried to wipe Israel out with their nuclear arsenal which if they ever develope it will be no match for what Israel can bring to the party right now. Israel has enough of a nuclear arsenal to turn Iran into a radioactive wasteland.

YUP, his rhetoric is nearly as scarey as George W's.

Too much propaganda about Iran . Sad . where in the world we got an Idea about the "currupt" Iranina goverment ? . Why we are not seeing the "currupt" Afgan govermetn who rigged the poll ? Why we are not seeing a more corrupt nuclear Pakistani govemrnet who hate Israel more that Arabs do ? Why we choose to Ignore the biggest lie "WMD" that killed millions in Iraq ? .Iran has all the right to develop a nuclear weapon to use as a detterent and nobody can stop that espescially most of its regional players have got it .Israel,Pakistan,China ,russia and India, West cannot expect Iran to fight with Knife whe they got all the guns .
In international diplomacy, the job of translation is always the job of the speaker's own team of translators, never the translators of other nations.
Those nations might have their own translators, but only the speaker's own translators can be trusted to faithfully interpret what the speaker says.
So when Ahmadinejad speaks, the only valid translation to English is that effected by his own translators. But Ooby_Dooby has quoted translations that came from Haeretz, an Israeli news agency with ties to the Israeli government.
Could we trust Iran to translate speeches by the Israeli Prime Minister into English? No, of course not.
And by the same token we can't trust Israel's translation of the Iranian president's speeches.
For example: We have often heard that Ahmadinejad called for Israel to be wiped of the face of the map.
But he never said anything like that.
What he said, in a speech to Iranian youth was a direct quote from the late Ayatollah Khoumeini:
" ???? ?? ???? ?????? ??? ??? "
"The Imam said that this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time"
So there was absolutely no threat of violence or war. Just a citation from Khoumeini wishing for the eventual end of the Zionist occupational régime.
I echo that wish.
It's nothing but hypocrisy to accuse Iran of agressive intent on the basis of such seriously twisted translations.
What country on earth has invaded or orchestrated coups in more foreign nations than any other nation in history?
Not Iran.
What nations occupy the territory of other nations at this moment?
Not Iran.
What countries have huge stocpiles of nuclear weapoons?

The difference between Iran and Pakistan, Russia, China, and India is they don't want to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. In my opinion Iran doesn't want to develope a nuclear weapon as a deterant but as a first strike weapon, against Israel. Afghanistan is corrupt and so is Pakistan. That the government of Iran is corrupt was made so obvious in the last election by the fact that it was not possibly to count millions of paper ballots from all over the country and have a result in such a short amount of time it was IMPOSSIBLE!!!! No question about it! I'm curious about something, I thought Georgia was an ally of the United States, am I wrong about this?

I already showed in a post above that Ahmadinejad never made that statement or anything like it. It was a false translation by Haeretz that put those words in his mouth.
The Bush League and Israel have mounted a big campaign to twist Ahmadinejad's words and pretend that he threatened war against Israel when he never did.
They can't tell the truth because it would be too lame.
What if Bush had told the truth:
"The Iranian president has quoted Ayatollah Khomeini, who died seventeen years ago, as saying 'the occupation regime over Jerusalem must be erased from the page of time?'" Pretty lame, huh?
Or if Bush had said the truth about Iran's nuclear program,
"Given ten years time, Iran might be able to build a single nuclear weapon to use against Israel, which itself has had a couple hundred nukes for quite awhile?" Pretty lame, too.
So the Bush leaguers had to jazz up the story some.
They said to themselves: "Here's how we'll spin it, We'll say Ahmadinejad has stated publicly that he wants to wipe Israel off the map. And since Iran is trying to enrich uranium for its nuclear power plants, we'll say that Iran plans to nuke Israel.

Man get Real!!!!!! Quit trying to blame Bush for everything. He said it face it. I have friends that lived in Iraq they will tell you exactly what he said and why he said it. He believes in OOOh well it isn't even worth trying to explain, some people will only believe what fits there preconcieved belief and no matter what you say they won't hear it unless it fits what they want to believe . Iran wants Isreal wiped off the face of the earth and never to be allowed to exist again . As far as being able to produce Nuclear Weapons there are different reports but most point to the fact they could have them within a year. several say even sooner. The reason the world is so worried about Iran haveing them is they will use them . Isreal has been a nuclear country since the 1970's and has never used them .
