those big prairie potholes in your middle and ours, make for some great habitat for birdwatching though I love the way the grasses from the prairie move in a small breeze and colors they turn at the sunset :)
I think so too, yes. But not sure why that is.....maybe people don;t take enough time to talk to make sure their expectations line up B4 they get together
that is so funny sounding here because the further north the cooler here. Hot weather is OK as long as a beach is nearby! I have heard great things about the beaches in Australia, My son was there recently.
I lived in Germany briefly and visited Copenhagen and Malmo. Lovely Going back to Germany would be nice. Then I could visit Switzerland and harrass Conrad
I wonder tho' reading on here: Does a woman's happiness now come at the expense of having a partner?
I think we paid for our equal treatment in the workplace with having to still go home and do another job as a homemaker. No one is happy long with 2 full time jobs.
At first men were unhappy because they liked the domestic bliss their spouses created and I think that was a good thing too when AGREED on by both. Eventually in the US it was no longer a choice. Now both need to work to afford even the basics. So a man can't "afford" to be unhappy about his working spouse. He needs the income in most cases.
But is there any less dissonance there regarding traditional roles? IDK, really
cool...OP means Original Post...your title post...not sure where you were headed with that but now that you clarified it makes sense. Yup love to reminisce with others about the good old days :). There will always be good old days and things that we also choose not to remember.
I think the 70s were actually more influential than the 60s even tho the 60s got all the "noise" because of women entering the work force in large number...permanently. Here in the US anyway
OMG yes! East Tenn. is on my short list of places that I want to go....for hawk migration mostly. I've been looking into this place called Roan Mtn...know of it?
Oh and harryonline, you said something that I believe mirrors a wrong perception that foreigners have about the US. What this last election tells the gov't is that most of us do not want a lot of change or extreme measures. We want our country's traditions & laws to be respected, there is no agreement here that any major change to our country is needed....as evidenced in the election results. most Americans are proud of America.
The vote represents DISSATISFACTION with much of the recent change or planned change. We are not happy with Obama's promise to "change America." This country has been markedly successful by implementing change slowly and only if needed, built on compromise.
completely agree haryyonline, so many now look to the gov't to solve their problems rather than looking to solve their own problems with the help of the gov't IF needed. The advantage, the essence of a democracy is for change to come from the local level and on up NOT the other way around. Power To The People, person :)
thank you Harryonline. Britain seems like it would amazing! I shouldn't pick on the Scots, I had some trouble understanding what the Beatles - liverpudlians - were saying at times. I saw a Scottish film once tho...one of my favorites BTW - and they used locals to play the locals. nice touch, but good lord trying understand them!!!
totally understand. there are so many great places here I'd love to stay in for a spell right here in the good ole USA....in Tennessee near Nashville , in Louisiana with the Arcadians, in Cape Cod with James Taylor.... lol, in Alaska with the Inuit....that is just the short list
Where would you...?
