Its not the questioning with an open mind for understanding, but a questioning so that the answers can be mocked. If you choose not to believe, and you are pretty much set in your ideas why bother to question? I doubt anything said here will change your mind.
You're right, Christians should set a better example, but realize that just by being Christian does not make them perfect. We are to try, but sometimes we fail.
It is probably pointless to talk about the bible to people who have access to it and plenty of churches to go to. If they hear or have access to the word of God and choose not to believe that is up to then. I would rather talk to someone who is interested in knowing more.
It probably is. It seem like too many people question the Christian faith not because they want to have a better understanding, but because they want to set traps. That is why the forums are probably not a good way to discuss religions beliefs. Too many people want to argue. I must admit that I get caught in that as well, and it isn't until I take a step back that I realize this is not helpful. It probably isn't helpful to start threads that is not conducive to better understanding, but a battle between the differences.
The bible says we are supose to be fishermen on men. It is our duty as a Christian, though sometimes I really hate it, to tell the non-believers of the love of Christ. We are suppose to do it peacefully, and sometimes I fail on this.

Were we not commanded by God to preach the world throughout all the nations? I do agree with you that arguing does not help. It is hard sometimes to not get drawn in.
This I believe is his first thread, so you must give him credit for that.
I agree, people do make a mess of their lives with bad choices, but sometimes they make bad choices out of desperation. They may have grown up in homes that offer little love or affection, and then they turn to people who offer any scrap of love.
The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. ~ Henry David Thoreau
You might as well, because you are not listening to anyone else. Now you all can be so smug and tell each other how smart you guys are. If a person is really smart, do they have to go around telling everyone how high their IQ is? Well, I'm out of here. It is kind of pointless to go on and on discussing something you refuse to believe. All I can say is time will tell.
From the Christian's perspective, you can choose one or the other. There is no fence sitting. If Jesus died for your sins, the pass isn't exactly free, he paid a great price. God does not wish for anyone to perish. It is hard for people to understand why God would forgive someone who is so evil and let them into heaven, but God can even change their lives. It is not based on how good or bad we are, but on the mercy of christ.
In the Bible book of Matthew 4:8-10, Satan the devil showed Jesus all the glories of the world and promised to give it to Jesus if he worship him. Think about this. Would Satan had offered Jesus "all the kingdoms of the world" if the world is not his? No, he would not. It is the devil who is causing all these problems.
I seen my father healed. He use to have such a bad back that he couldn't stand upright. He was in so much pain. Then 3 Christians prayed for him and he was instantly healed. He hasn't had back problems since and he is 87. My dad is an honorable man who has always accepted life as it is. He is never one to complain. It was amazing to see, yet it wasn't something you could put under a microscope and analyze it. There is so much more out there than what our 5 senses can tell us.
Not everything can be measured nor quantified. We are talking about a spiritual realm. That is why it has to be their journey. I cannot save them, nor convince them of the truth. Perhaps that was the way God wanted it to be. He wanted a personal relationship with them. That is why he said, I stand at the door and nock.
Sometimes it's like watching someone who is about to walk in front of a train and you try warning them, but they will not listen. Instead they tell you how stupid and naive for you to believe that a train is coming down the track. Should you let them go on their merry way and get hit and figure that you told them, or do you fight with them no matter how hard they resist so they won't be hurt. Well, Jesus was mocked too.
They are probably the same people who done "studies" and found that blonds are dumb, red heads have a temper and women over 40 are more likely to be hijacked by terrorist than to get married. After taking a statistic class, I see where it is so easy to get false results if you have bad input.
Yes, pretty much. Christianity is based on the bible. It clearly says how to be saved and what God expects of you, for example the ten commandments. That is why I have also said that they need to search for themselves. I am only answering questions. It is up to each individual to choose for themselves.
Ok, you are probably right on the empathy part, some primates can feel this way, but they do not have the intellegence to the level that man has to comprehend their actions. Humans can plan ahead to do wrong.
RE: For those of you who say that there is no God!
