RE: beeches are closed..

I believe the Irish don't have to worry about sharks off their shores. Your most common is the spotted dogfish shark (which loves worms and crusty critters) and the 10 meter long basking shark (plankton lovers). Irish fisher dudes thought the dogfish shark had teeth that look like dog teeth.

RE: Quake in Canada near Victoria felt in Seattle.

Nah, this is just one of the side effects for Fracking in Ohio.

RE: Say Anything

California is the first State to pass a hover board law : Assembly bill 604 signed by its governor. playball

This bill would define the term “electrically motorized board.” The bill would prohibit the operation of an electrically motorized board upon a highway while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage or any drug, or under the combined influence of an alcoholic beverage and any drug. The bill would require the operator of an electrically motorized board to wear a helmet while operating an electrically motorized board upon a highway, bikeway, or any other public bicycle path, sidewalk, or trail. The bill would require an operator to be at least 16 years of age in order to operate an electrically motorized board. The bill would also require electrically motorized boards to be equipped with safety equipment, as specified, and restrict the operation speed of electrically motorized boards. Because a violation of these provisions would be punishable as an infraction, this bill would impose a state-mandated local program.

Nice... Looking back, I see the 1980s as a decade of optimism, of smiles, a time before Al Gore invented the Internet. wave

RE: Are Donald Trumps plans to bld a border wall & deport illegal Mexicans unfair?

Yeah, well, the politicians believe we are brainless.

RE: Are Donald Trumps plans to bld a border wall & deport illegal Mexicans unfair?

Oh, that's an astute observation. Sometimes I think we have as much wall area here in Ohio than the actual road surface area they surround. As you've pointed out, these walls are primarily for privacy, aesthetic and sound-barrier purposes.

RE: Are Donald Trumps plans to bld a border wall & deport illegal Mexicans unfair?

I think none of it is unfair. However, I think the wall is silly, especially when you consider the length it would have to be, imho. Build a 10 foot wall and they will use 12 foot ladders.

RE: Should women go to war ?

We haven't had a draft military since, maybe, the Vietnam conflict.

One of the reasons youth are preferred in conflict is because they have fewer second thoughts about doing something in a battle because they usually haven't accumulated wealth, finished college or built families yet.

Have you ever talked with any veterans of wars? When you are in the heat of a conflict, you aren't fighting for God and country, duty or honor, you are fighting to survive and help your buddies there do the same... If you can. If women can do that job, is there any reason they should not be allowed to fight?

RE: Blind date

Maybe ooby is referring to my earlier whale of a joke post in post #11

RE: Should women go to war ?

Are you asking whether a single parent should be exempt from any draft, or by exempt do you mean that single parents should not be allowed to enlist in a volunteer armed service like we presently have in the USA?

Have men (drafted or volunteer) ever been exempt from continuing in the military service?
Curious....

So what happens if a single woman (drafted or volunteer) gets pregnant while serving in the armed forces in an active conflict?
Will that delicate condition always be a woman's ticket out of war?
Does she get an honorable discharge?
Does she have the child with the federal government assistance so she can return to active duty....

Is any of the above fair? Does it make sense in the way that it is going to make our armed forces better and stronger like POTUS Obama has proudly stated?
