If I didnt shave my noggin id have to sleep standing up...more than an inch long and id need tar to keep it in place...and id scare small children!..."hair is horrible, bald is best" [on me that is] LZ.
I whole hartedly agree with Englishman55, ive done a few PIF,s myself and the look of suprise you get when they find its an act of kindness without reward is priceless, so few people are used to getting something truly usefull or helpfull completly free...and the great feeling they and you get after such an act is reward in itself...i urge everybody to try it at least once...and make it to a perfect stranger, its a great way to restore some balance to your life and theres...LZ.
Sharron Shannon / button accordian....just up the road...otherwise put your head round any village pub to hear musicians of great worth just having a barnstorming session...LZ.
I have to say, I would walk away. there is room enough to consider the childs needs by any loving or surviving parent, but the problem appears to be the parent child dynamic...its up to the father to assert his role as the adult in there relationship. letting go of firm but fair boundries will leave the father unable to function beyond the wishes of his daughter, this is unhealty for both as in later life he runs the risk of being unable to do things without her approval, and she will have intolerance issues which will be hard to break through pre and early teens, and maybe even adulthood...im sure every one reading your post would only want what is best for all, but in-action is no action to take...sad to say...LZ
the tax office...the post office...the vehicle taxation office...the bloody que at tesco, (when there supposed to have staff on)...the car insurance office...the damn filling station...the loo at night clubs( and like you girls dont have a bad enough time of it!!!)...the ticket machine where you pay your parking( quickly, before you pay for another bloody hour)...dammit, im staying home instead...lovely little post...rant over...LZ.
Laugh the weekend away, three of the funniest films around...WITHNAIL and I...gets better with each viewing...eminantly quoteable....THE JERK.. once upon a time steve martin was " the wild and crazy guy"...there will be tears.....of laughter...BLAZING SADDLES... mell brooks brings his A game and we thank him dearly for this comic gem...hope these films will make it to your player....good luck...LZ.
John Prine 'bit of a hero round these parts... but just now, aimee mann..."jacob marleys chain"... she could sing the telephone directory and id be ok with that...LZ.
Ive read your post and the follow ups...really, its like seeing myself 30 years ago..whatever anyone says, dont put off asking the girl... that you have had feelings this long will do you no good putting off asking her out and will eventually build a wall between you both...i completely understand your doubts as i have been there myself and i was 25 before i had my first relationship in the proper sense...please dig deep and find the courage to ask her soon, you seem like a decent chap and everyone deserves happiness...now go and get yours...good luck mate...LZ
Thank you for mentioning Withnail and I...a stone cold classic, seek out the anniversary 3 disk dvd set and immerse yourself in the history of this marvellous film...worthy of a full discussion thread all by itself...LZ
ELP, brain salad surgery gatefold...HR Geiger before Ridly scotts Alien..stunning..LED ZEP,(ok, easy now!) physical gaffiti, with its peep scene windows was reportedly one of the most expensive album covers ever...like to see them pull that off on a cd jewel case..or is that the spinny wheely thing you mentioned?...LZ
"The wages of fear"..original french version (1956), forget "the sorcier" rubbish william freidkin remake...the first film i remember seeing as a child, it terrified me then and leaves me in awe now..."night of the demon" by jaques tournier (1958), quite simply the best horror thriller ever made (imho), a steller performance from a classic cast, particulary Nial McGunnis...and finally "miracle mile", by steve de'jarnet (1988, i think) a warm and tender love story set about the last 58 minutes before a nuclear holocaust... i strongly urge you to seek out these 3 films, any one of them would be worth a dozen "Avatars", this is a hard list to populate down, good post though...
Ah yes, the cryptic hidden (or are they?) messages, were early black sabbath records really responsible for me eating all that junk food?...got to admit, it was a handy excuse!..now if youll excuse me i have the devils bidding to do....
Vinyl...love it. first single, Virginia plain, roxy music..first lp, They only come out at night, edgar winter group (remember frankenstien?.)..first complete set by an artist, the albums of King Crimson..fantastic gatefolds, still have all my "frisbee,s" in mint condition around 200 of them, no money big enough for me to sell the history, and my kids discovered much of there music from my collection...good post for us old,uns...
