Japan is probably the leading country for a majority of these appliances but the Germans in particular make some very high quality white goods & kitchen fittins ( ovens etc)

They all do! and they all make junk also. Get off your wallet and you can buy good stuff from any of them.
I am a furniture dealer among other items. I have a list of over 50 brands........made by the same maker. This list contained many such list for all kinds of products called appliances....washers,dryers....etc.,,,and a list of the true maker.
Shop wise as to how they are made and then get off your wallet and buy good stuff........watch paying for bells and whistles that are just pretty to look at but never used.

I'm sold on Hobart appliances, Westinghouse and Fridgidaire are tied for second. I have heard, and it is also my opinion, to stay away from department store (sorry, don't want to risk having the thread locked by negative specifics!) brand associated appliances. As far as country that makes the best--I have heard Sweden is top shelf, as well as France and Germany. Smaller appliances, such as toasters and coffee makers are best from France, I have heard.

I have American,Chines,Japanes and german products but didnt hear any swedish product ever.Anyways ,Good post
