The people who still believe the benign intentions of their respective governments need to read about operation Gladio.
Quote: Operation Gladio is undisputed historical fact. Gladio was part of a post-World War II program set up by the CIA and NATO supposedly to thwart future Soviet/communist invasions or influence in Italy and Western Europe. In fact, it became a state-sponsored right-wing terrorist network, involved in false flag operations and the subversion of democracy.
The existence of Gladio was confirmed and admitted by the Italian government in 1990, after a judge, Felice Casson, discovered the network in the course of his investigations into right-wing terrorism. Italian prime minister Giulio Andreotti admitted Gladio’s existence but tried to minimize its significance.
The main function of the Gladio-style groups, in the absence of Soviet invasion, seems to have been to discredit left-wing groups and politicians through the use of “the strategy of tension,” including false-flag terrorism. The strategy of tension is a concept for control and manipulation of public opinion through the use of fear, propaganda, agents provacateurs, terrorism, etc. The aim was to instill fear into the populace while framing communist and left-wing political opponents for terrorist atrocities.
This discussion is similar to the religious ones: some of us asking questions and examining available evidence to the best of our ability and logic, and some with a blind faith beyond reason.
Nuli, I respect you and I feel for the victims and their families and friends. Yet, how can you know the truth, if you don't do your HW? The official story is full of holes, the collapse of WTC7 being just one of them.
As I posted before, the one person to have an informed opinion, Lord Goldsmith, insisted that the war was illegal until he was coerced into changing position. I can quote you more international law experts who agree with him. Of course, there are also the John Yoo's who think the war was legal, and torture is just fine.
An illegal war is one against international law/UNSC resolutions. In my eyes, both terrorism as well as state terrorism are illegal. Self-defense is somewhat more justified, though it has to be proportionate to the threat. You don't shoot someone cause he may pull a hair of yours.
Quote: Sir Gus O'Donnell, the cabinet secretary, wrote to Sir John Chilcot on 25 June to allow the inquiry to publish more documents relating to the legal advice. The most significant of these documents was a note on 30 January 2003 by the then attorney general, Lord Goldsmith, to Tony Blair. In the note Goldsmith wrote: "I remain of the view that the correct legal interpretation of [UN security council] resolution 1441 is that it does not authorise the use of military force without a further determination by the security council."
Goldsmith famously changed his mind on the legality of the war in March 2003 after Admiral Sir Michael Boyce, the former chief of the defence staff, demanded a clear undertaking that military action would be lawful. Boyce feared that British forces could face legal action unless the invasion had legal cover. On 7 March 2003, after visiting Washington, Goldsmith told Blair that a new UN resolution may not be necessary, although invading Iraq without one could lead to Britain being indicted before an international court. Ten days later Goldsmith ruled that an invasion would be lawful.
Among other crimes, UK together with the US pushed for and executed an illegal war in Iraq, based on fabricated evidence. Hundreds of thousands of victims, the vast majority of them civilians. British soldiers are usually the victims, as are the Iraqis.
I'm a native Greek, yet I'd be hostile to the Greek army invading other peoples' land and killing them indiscriminately. Maybe I wouldn't resort to violence, but that's dependent on each person's disposition and morality. What I'm saying is I don't need to be an immigrant to set my morals/beliefs higher than patriotism or the country I live in.
