Is it you or is it I

Hear the sound of silence
knocking at your door
is it you
or is it I

Hear the sound of laughter
in an empty room
curtains open to garden
where flowers used to bloom

Is it you or is it i
which one came back again
to the place we began
house upon the cliff

We said we would return
if our love came back
in the shadows i stand
with a suitcase to unpack

Hear the sound of silence
knocking at the door
i am here
waiting for you

Cornwall remembered

The countryside held his boyhood
in a village quite sublime
country lanes, fields of wheat
church bells pealing, sunday time
morning papers, sunday lunch

Music from the 60s played
the honeycombs in sight
drummer girl and vocal band
sung" Have I the Right"

the garden flowers sway
Seeds and planting
natures garden
vegetables, flowers so bright,
burning rubbish garden type
by walls beside the field

Compost burning,smoke is rising
in the garden, by the wall
that extended round to meet
the garage and farmers gate
the tree stump cut
stood upon it five feet high

a boy with his new radio
sat and viewed that scene
brand new wireless airing music
Ivy League, who "tossin and turnin"
Was what they seemed to do

take bike and country lanes
railway station, spotting trains
meeting people there
going down the village lanes

Pass under trees
stop beside a tiny bridge
hop the wall and over
there the little brook
rolled on it's quiet way

Boyhood was the moment
heading into manhood
down the road away.

Climbed a Hill

Climbed way up a hill there
years ago when time was new
i left the farm and wandered on
to a place where time had gone

Up that hill through the day
following the marked out way
trees and pastures
lay behind me

Then upon a certain place
paused to say a prayer
so close to heaven
and God is there

There on knees said a prayer
God and clouds everywhere
still and peaceful
find the memory there

Some say God does not exist
then you have to see the mist
in that silence you will know
he will always his love show

MIRAGE Of A Man

Nobody saw, he came and lingered
a pencil held between the fingers
that wrote the diary of days
Don't dot the t or cross the I;
and think, before you ask why
should it be thus for some

A vapour wearing casual clothes,
they are disdained by someone's nose
But at the start with cry of birth,
a celebration held with thirst,
and quenched that moment
when he was born to this.

Like shadows, mist, upon the land
he seeks if some would understand.
Surrounded in that moody state
while at the fair, or on the gate;
the inner yearning long to see
that someone notices, someone..

But what to do is ours alone,
at birth the celebration there
it wanes when older we become
until success alone or kin
marks company for us
for poor, and failed, forsaken

So life its page and book
by tear, and sigh, and prayer
with hope and strife
like seeds into the air
a man of years and seasons
ponders out the reason

Sea So Blue

I would go back to that sea so blue
and the pier where i could view
the ocean deep and that creeping tide
where at night the stars don't hide

I would go along to the cliff top there
and the wind would play with people's hair
on a summer's day people walk that way
it's the place where old folk stay

I would walk the promenade and there
see the sandy beach like a woman fair
as caressed by waves upon her shore
in that pleasant town again once more

Dawn has opened up

Dawn has opened up
the shop of life again
sunshine or maybe rain
who can tell

Stirring, believing, and hoping
rising awake to each day
shaking the dreams
as the moonbeams fly away

Walking through time
reasons that rhyme
mountains of problems
assail and to climb

School of life
we are in
life time members
the class begins

Win or lose
stand or fall
give it your best
on heaven call

You are not weak
to call on God
he is a friend
more than we know

Impossible things
we give to him
all of the rest
is ours to do

Valleys and mountains
symbolize journeys
all of us moving
on pathways we choose

There is a peace
we can obtain
when in the storms
or going through rain

Call upon me
i will answer to you
this is the promise
of faith that is true

So in the journey
that call we can make
finding a friend
who will never forsake

She is you

She is you
close enough to love
bursting like
a ray of morning sunlight

She is you
staying close beside
filling the air
with moments of love

She is you
like a daffodil
fragrant and new
dazzling the view

You and her
hands to finger
love just begun
in midnight sun

You and her
share moonshadows
and fields of green
ocean so blue

You and her
like all lovers
want a life together
a journey for two

And it begins
when love arrives
two into one
she is you

Loving the Sea

Soul on a beach
eyes upon the water
incoming waves
swimming ashore
kiss sand once more

Sea symphony
harps and violins
thunderclap of cymbals
orchestral splash
over every rock

Oceans stirring sound
refresh my ears
wind and water run
part of natures song
souls made strong

Winds push on me
as it does the sea
there thoughts live
the mind is refreshed
oceans simply bless

oh to be at the shore this morning, instead of at the gates of hell...errr, work. life is cruel! my soul needs made strong again, by the seaweed strings of the seashell symphony. not feeling too blessed today. thanks serpico, it's naturally wonderful.

Can I Read Your Heart?

Debra, can i read your heart today
if i did what would it say?
peel back the pages of your book
open your life allow me to look

You are tender
eyes of jade
hair auburn
lips red full
arms and waist
for me to pull

Can I read your thoughts today
scan the papers of your mind
see those paragraphs
smile and sing and laugh

Look upon your hurt and sadness
made up of incidents you do recall
Ointment of love tenderly soothe you
kiss and caress with sensitive lips

Light and Darkness

I have walked in the darkness
in the dead of night
and was glad to have
close by me light

Down the motor way
as i thumbed that night
i was glad to have
the road side lights

Light house by the sea
warns of danger
to the ship out there

Light scatters darkness
directs our way
as a torch in the night
so the light by the day

We have light
understanding of mind
its the torch we have
for a path to find

Shine on each other
sister or brother
lend your assistance
by words or deeds

Shine on you
shine on me
may your journey
ever safe then be.

Chill Out

Hope is the cup that we reach for
faith is the hand that makes the movement
love is the aim the nectar flowing
here in a world the candles blowing

Light a candle in the darkest room
fly your kite or your balloon
let the child in you just live again
young at heart in summer rain

We can lose the simple things
we can lose the dreams and rainbows
though one needs reality
one must also learn to unwind

To busy to dream its easy to be like that
workaholics i was one of these
til a friend showed me how
to mark the meadow and see the trees

As they say stop and smell the roses
as they say catch the fragrance there
smell the coffee feel the silence
as the breeze touches your hair

Life is a journey reflections are there
let life be fun as well as real
for a workaholic can miss this
and i know as i was one
